Wow! You spent a lot of time drawing those. Good job! The second one in particular is well done. The human eye tends to like threes.
I would recommend having your characters in the second cover that are wearing armor to also wear helmets (or at least holding helmets). The helmet isn’t used very often in movies or pictures…[Read more]

Power replied to the topic What Kind of Writing do You Excel at? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years ago
For example, I like (I will not say that I excel) to written poems (as long as I have a decent topic), humorous banter (Never would have guess this one I’m sure) and random little stories that are based off of sayings (I mean really, who was Life anyways, and why does it give people lemons?). I tend to write good papers about…[Read more]

@e-k-seaver
I sit correct. So to clarify my question that apparently questioned the wrong thing, I will rephrase my question. “What topics and in what forms of writing show your skills at their greatest advantage.” Hopefully now my question questions the right thing. Any questions? -

So what kind of writing do you excel at? (Assuming, and I assume it is safe to assume, that you are indeed a writer and not a brilliant brontosaurus who has infiltrated KP in hopes that you come across some spinach coupons.) Perhaps you have problems writing a novel, spending more time hitting the keyboard with your head than with your fingers,…[Read more]

@daisy-torres
Actually, after looking up Urban Fantasy I don’t think either or the book series above mentioned would fall into that category. Sorry about the confusion. -
Power replied to the topic When is it okay to defy the government? in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 3 years, 1 month ago
From a total secular view point, The purpose for government is to protect the rights of the people. When it is not fulfilling it’s purpose the people have the right to annul the government and replace it. In short, power is given by the people, for the people.

Also remember bullets and arrows don’t allows miss or “Whizz over their head”, and when someone is hit by one of these they don’t just say “Ow ” and keep running.

Draw out a map of the place they are trying to escape and their route of escape. Look through history at times when people have escaped or broken in to some place.

The Mysterious Benedict Society might fall into Urban Fantasy, the O’Malley series (Good books, but they are romances 🤮 and can be disturbing at times, especially the one about the forensic pathologist.)

If you having a hard time reading the books, I recommend finding them in audiobook form. Then you don’t have to push yourself (Which could lead to you not liking the series even more).

Power replied to the topic What's a book that hasn't aged well for you? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 1 month ago
A book series that hasn’t aged well for me is the Enola Holmes series. I have three siblings and all of them girls, also our mother has been a voracious reader for about her entire life, so a lot of the literally I’ve been introduced to was written for girls ( The American Girls book, Little Women, the Little House on the Prairie series, the Ann…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Sorry, but I don’t have a pancake. Perhaps try IHOP.
@anatra23 I recommend not trying to translate it. It appears that the code got corrupted at some point in time (
last time I trust a morse code translator.jk I’ll probably use it again 😜.) -
Power replied to the topic What’s an unexpected place you got a story idea from? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 2 months ago
@kathleenramm I haven’t use the birthday cake corpse ideas in a story (and don’t really plan to). What I got out of the dream was the emotions and experience of being near someone when they are told that a loved one has passed.

An odd dream. Yes I know that dreams aren’t particularly unexpected places to find story ideas (at least not for me), but like I said, it was an odd dream. How many of you have had a dream were you were at a funeral and the family of the deceased through birthday cake at the corps. Yes, you read that right. The inspection I received from the dream…[Read more]

From Braxton Redoak, a red fox.
“Well slap me across the face, and call me a pickle!”
“When in doubt, scream for all your worth.”
“Wouldn’t I make such a handsome corpse?”
From the Black Mongoose a.k.a. Charles Wettoe II
“Sadly I must flee. All the little animals really hate me.”
“I hate Romance! I’d prefer to bite someone.”
“Life is a very…[Read more]
