@kathleenramm I wish I knew that typing was more efficient than handwriting.
Thanks to choices my 12 year old self made, I am still handwriting a certain story to this day.

@avacoulter It’s probably the farthest I’ve gotten in a novel, actually, heh. I’m looking forward to writing the ending.
What do you like most about the writing process?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 2 years, 11 months ago
@avacoulter Oo, interesting! Dystopian stories are always fun.
One of my current projects is about a guy named Joey who works at an antique store, time, wings, existence, and memory. It’s a weird kind of story so I feel like a premise wouldn’t encapsulate it enough. It’s basically inspired by things and people I saw throughout summer.

@avacoulter Hm, I’ve written so many, it’s hard to choose a favorite, haha. Do you have a premise for your current WIP?

@avacoulter Fair, fair, haha. Any favorite stories you’ve written so far?

@avacoulter Hoi, welcome! I’m Lin, always dabbling in a variety genres, like crime/fantasy and other things.
It’s been so long since I’ve commented on any of the intro threads, haha. Anything in particular you wish to share?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic What Kind of Writing do You Excel at? in the forum General Writing Discussions 2 years, 11 months ago
@power That makes a tad more sense… No need to rephrase it again, people reading this thread will understand.
I suppose I am best at writing emotional snippets, usually quite sad and dreamlike. Not sure, though. Not many people have read them.

@power Bold of you to assume that I can’t both be a writer and a brontosaurus.
As for what I excel at, I can’t exactly tell you. The way your question is phrased raises a lot of questions in me. Why, what kind of writing do you excel at?

@kathleenramm Nope, only taken breaks. Because at this point I’ve invested too much time in it to stop.

YESS!!! I had actually watched two before number one, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, so I DEFINITELY need to do a re-watch too.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic What's a story that you worked on for while but completely scrapped later on? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years ago
@kathleenramm My second short story I was going to start. It was going to be about characters in a story who were going to be fighting these monsters at the end of the world, but they were kind of like actors in a movie setup with the Narrator as the director. The story would alternate between them inside the Story and their lives outside of the…[Read more]

True. Where do all those Eastern Dragons be tho?True. True. I actually liked the three introductions when I first read it too. I thought it was a deliberate poke at all the fantasy clichés. I hoped the story would be a somewhat fun yet heartfelt parody of the common fantasy stories. However, the rest of…[Read more]

Not-So-Secret Secret Assassin replied to the topic How do I make a non-cliche escape scene? in the forum Plotting 3 years ago
I have written quite a few escape scenes in my lifetime (the very nature of my stories require it to be so), and cliche escape scenes are one of my pet peeves in stories, so I think that I have a few tips that I can help you with.
First, what constitutes a “bad escape scene”?
1. It’s super easy, and it makes the villain look weak
2. It’s…[Read more] -
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Any Urban Fantasy clean book recommendations? in the forum Book Discussions 3 years ago
@daisy-torres Aye, I’ve heard both good and bad things about Wattpad, and I feel like the stuff I write doesn’t fit into the romance vibe of it, so for now I’m hopefully going to be sticking with Webnovel and Tapas. I’m glad you had a good experience with it though.

Shortest story to write: That’d be the first novel I completed at like 12 years old. I wrote it in a month, and I have no idea how long it was, probably less than 50K but maybe not. I wrote it by hand, and I was probably able to finish it so quickly because I had a lot of free time on my hands. I was homeschooled with few other hobbies, y’all.…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Lemme see if I can find the premise again…
There are 13 worlds. There are Magic Users. There is a question: “Why is there no happy ending for a Magic User?”
13 different installments, following so many different storylines that somehow entwine together.
This is the story of the Magic Users, and their search for a happy…
