Hi KeePers! I’ve been reading over some of my old writing and I’m a little discouraged right now. It’s not that my books are unbiblical or unethical, it’s just that I’m lacking strong, foundational themes in my books recently. I’ve been trying to add them in, but they seem a little forced and/or preachy. (
It might also be that the genres I wri…[Read more] -

Girl, I totally understand feeling stuck about this, and might I say, @gracie-j, I’m honored that you tagged me! 🙂 Okay, so first of all, this elements sound very hooking and I know it can be a struggle with introducing new worlds/characters in a flash. Seriously, my novel is chock-full of this.

Your writing is really, really good! I enjoyed the fast pace. Ember and her brother are certainly very likeable, and the first person perspective is very clear. But I think I agree with @jodi-maile. You may need to pause a bit more a reflect on what’s going on in Ember’s head instead of focusing entirely on external things. Besides…[Read more]

Thank you so much!! Especially about the sword fight. It’s great to hear that it was good from someone that used to do it!
To explain about the war, there technically isn’t one yet. Her brother is just in the army responding to little things like the raids. There will be a bigger war toward the end of the book. It’s good to know…[Read more]

Hey Lexi! Nice to meet you!
My favorite genre to write in is fantasy.
I’ve been making stories from an early age, and trying to write a novel since 2015.
My favorite novels are often parts of series, so I…[Read more]

@writerlexi1216 @jodi-maile @relia
Thank you all so much!! I suppose the main thing that I want critiqued is the main character, Ember. That’s she’s likable enough, I suppose. Also, I haven’t written in 1st person before, and I just want to be sure that everything is clear in that person. Oh, and there’s a sword fight in chapter 3, and I haven’t…[Read more]

Hello friends!
I hope everyone is doing well <3
So, long story short, I’m attempting to “get back into” reading. It’s been a long while since I’ve read regularly for pleasure (I blame being an English major in college–it’s difficult to find the mental space for a “fun” book when you’re floundering through various reading lists, you see), and I…[Read more]

Favs… LOTR: Gandalf, Hunger Games: Johanna, and Star Wars: Darth Vader… or maybe R2?

@jodi-maile Thanks for the advice! That is a problem for sure since I would probably end the book without really fleshing out her new relationship with her siblings much. I don’t know if my readers would appreciate that much. 😛 It really depends on how long my book is at that point. I don’t know if I will write a sequel or not, but if I could f…[Read more]

Hi! My current top three favorite books are probably Moccasin Trail, Pride and Prejudice, and The Bronze Bow. I have read a lot of fantasy which probably is why I like it the most. It’s so much easier for me to write as well and I’m sure that watching the Chronicles of Narnia also probably helped. 😉 Nice to meet you too!
