Oh… oops. XD I didn’t know this would start a whole discussion. But that’s okay! It’s really interesting to hear y’all’s opinions.
I wasn’t necessarily trying to say that publishers aren’t looking for a good book. I’m just saying that publishers can be really harsh with what they accept and what t…

Okay…I think I’m just not good at saying what I mean. Let me try again, haha!
But Esther has a good point of view, that publishers are also looking for well-written material to a degree, because readers like good writing, and therefore good writing will sell. I’m not saying all readers have quality taste, but…

One book that I found interesting is The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein. It’s sci-fi, but it is about a revolution on Luna against Terra, and the parallels are brilliant! I actually have a clearer picture of what it must have been like in some ways in the revolutionary war. Beware, Heinlein is not a Christian. T…[Read more]

I don’t know too much about that time frame, and I haven’t read any books in it that I can think of right now. Also, I have pretty much zero experience writing from male POVs, so I wouldn’t be much help there either, lol. But it does sound like a cool idea, and I would love to read it once you start it!

Well, I’m not good at coming up with questions, but I noticed that most people seem to use the same ones all the time, so I figured I could do that.

Esther replied to the topic Revolutionary War story idea in the forum Historical 1 year ago
Yeah, sometimes it helps to have two POVs, and other times it’s not necessary. I’ve become so accustomed to it though, that when I start coming up with a story idea, my mind naturally creates two POV characters. XD
Glad I could help!!

Ooo!! Cool idea!
I don’t have any plot ideas and such right now, but I’ll let you know if I think of any!
Aannddd… even though I write mostly male characters, I don’t really have any advice. 😅 I agree with what Esther said, though.

Oooh, I like the idea!!
That said, if anyone has any interesting plot ideas or conflict suggestions, let me know! Or if there are any good book recommendations from that time period, I’d love to hear them.
I will say writing a book over the span of eight years could be a challenge, but I’m sure you could do it. 😉 A series isn…[Read more]

Oh wow!!! This is a really cool idea!!
I’m not really sure how you want your story to go…but I would really recommend developing your characters before any plotting! Figure out their character arcs and internal conflicts. (Abbie Emmons on YouTube really helped me learn why internal conflicts matter! But if you do watch her…[Read more]

I don’t eat much sugar normally, now I have to eat sugary things. I also have to keep a candy in my pocket whenever I go somewhere now. My sugar levels are slowly going back to normal.
Apparently, it’s bothering me now because I was recently on Doxycicoline for Lyhmes, and that just messed up my body enough that I went downhill…[Read more]

You’re fine.
Lower. I literally could barely walk yesterday it was so low, but today, I seem to be basically normal, besides semi low levels, a lack of balance, and dizzy spells.

It’s type 1. I don’t eat much sugar, unlike my brothers, and even then apparently it’s not all getting into my system.

Thanks again for the prayers, it means a lot<333

Yeah…I stayed up late last night and I woke up and I was so tired! I was super confused why my grandma was standing in my room and singing, “Happy New Year, Happy New Year from your Grandma next door!” My Grandma is super funny sometimes…haha.

So nice to meet y’all!
What is one thing God did in your life this past year? Hmm… God did a lot of things in my life this year, including one really big thing I prefer not to talk about, but one thing He did this year that I’m really grateful for was He got me safely through my first semester of university. 🙂

I think that is awesome! I don’t have any theological problems with that. I tend to avoid doing robots and stuff, because I don’t believe that such a creation would have a soul, and I would usually rather avoid writing about those topics. I haven’t thought about how that would extend to a human created in a lab. There’s nothing biological about a…[Read more]

I don’t like to play with sentient and rational robots, honestly those creep me out. The idea of Alpha being originally a a robot made out of flesh came from me just thinking about him. It was really weird, I was talking as Alpha to his best friend Terry and it just spilled out. I was making it up as I went, but it sounded like it was a set piece…[Read more]
That makes sense to me. I think we’re pretty much on the same page.
I haven’t thought about it in depth, but from first glance, I don’t have a problem with it either. I guess it would depend also on how he was created. Did they take human DNA to create him? If that’s the case, then I think he would have a soul just like any other person, because the rest of us are created with human DNA, even though the process of…[Read more]
He was made from mixed DNA, to give him the traits Grathmere wanted. I believe most likely, he was made the weird 3D printer way at first, and developed from there.
He was actually interestingly enough, not made to have any moral compass. He was supposed to be a heartless assassin that did what Grathmere wished. He’d have limited free will, but…[Read more]
I think that’s a really good idea. I don’t find any theological issues with it. Er, I don’t really have any other comments ATM 😅
@rae
I like the idea! I think it makes sense that he would be without breath at first, and I think that God could definitely give him a soul if He chose
Ooh, ok. So I see where your doubts are coming from. Here’s my opinion…
I believe that as soon as a baby is conceived in the womb, he (referring to either gender in this case) is a human being with a soul that is loved by God. Obviously he cannot physically breathe yet because he’s only a few cells. But when he is born, God is ultimately the O…[Read more]

I think this is a fun idea. I don’t think there’s any theological problems. Is this your fantasy, or something else? If the first, then I wouldn’t think theological and scientific problems should be your primary concern, because what you say goes. Even if your more into hard worldbuilding, you can build up a distinct theological system that is…[Read more]
@thearcaneaxiom Yeah, this is in my sci-fi/fantasy Galaxy. Alpha is one of my main charries.
I don’t think this is too weird an idea for a sci-fi universe. It’s basically like God put literal, actual life in a body which was built, not born. Like a machine built out of flesh and bone, it was working, but it wasn’t alive quite yet. I think the way he explains it is a little strange, but that’s an explanation and can be modified a bit.
My only issue is that if his heart was going but not his breathing, he would die pretty quickly, so maybe he was effectively “dead” with neither organ working, and when they tried to “jump-start” him, his heart started but not his lungs, and then when they were confusedly trying to figure it out he started breathing.
That was a weird explanation, sorry….
It makes sense…in fact that was the way I pictured it in my mind, just Alpha sometimes says things weirdly, and leaves out parts.
I believe the term for during but still coming back to life by revival is called “clinically dead”. Not sure if Alpha falls under this or not, though…
Ok, good, it made sense…lol
