Trahia the Minstrel replied to the topic Hello hello! in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 6 months ago
Hi, Beth!
I also love fantasy, and write it. I don’t feel comfortable about writing Magic, so my stories don’t have magic either. (Yet. Maybe in the future…? Who knows.)
My top three favourite
booksseries would be:The Viking Quest series by Lois Walfrid Johnson
The Five-Find-Outers by Enid Blyton
The Snow White with the Red Hair manga…[Read more]

Hi, Elishavet!
Tráhia the Minstrel here.🙂 I think all your story ideas sound cool, but the one that makes me laugh is the fact that one of your worlds is called Eirtan, and I have a city in my book called Iertan.
It seems we have a similar bent in made-up names 😁
On a side note, I don’t suppose you could help me through the process of ge…[Read more]

Hi! I’m 18, and have been homeschooled all my life. 🙂
I think it’s epic what you said about writing clean fiction for kids — that’s exactly what I want to do in fantasy as well. My current project almost completed stemmed from the fact that I wanted to be able to have an epic fantasy story in the style of the anime I always heard my adult sibling…[Read more]

Hi, everyone! Tráhia the Minstrel here!
I’m really looking forward to being a part of this forum, and making some great friends here. I’ve found it a bit hard to find a wholesome place online to hang out and nerd with fellow teen writers, so I’m really glad to have found Kingdom Pen!
Here’s a little about myself:

So, I thought it’d be fun to share three of a character’s lines (or however many characters you want to do) that are distinctive to their personalities and could, by themselves, be used to describe your character. Here’s mine:
Character: Catherine Miranda Davis
“The day you come to court me, Rudy Newark, is the day I learn how to use Uncle J…

The moonlight shone in through the kitchen window, sending shadows skittering across the tile floor. I pushed up the tablecloth that was draped over my hideout – kitchen tables are very useful peices of furniture – and peeked into the dark recess of the pantry for the umpteenth time. The double-sided tape, chipotle pepper, mousetraps, and frying…

Welp, I’m very late to the party, but I thought I’d pop in anyway.
I think that when things like what you’re experiencing happen, drafts show their beauty. 🙂 I know with every draft of my novels/short stories, they become better. Perhaps if you tried finishing the story, taking a bit of a break, and then diving in again, you’d…[Read more]

Yeah, I like birds! I don’t watch them or anything, but I enjoy learning about them. I used the chickadee’s “Fee-bee” call in one of my school papers. It’s so fun how it can be interpreted to mean the name “Phoebe;” perfect fuel for a writer. 😉
Aww, thanks! 😀
Ooo… That sounds amazing!!! I love the idea of writing in some of the “pu…[Read more]

Lydia S. replied to the topic How to know if your book should be a standalone or series? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 7 months ago
I am pretty much going to echo what a lot of the other gals said! Honestly, I simply decide based on if I have more stories to tell. For my romances, there is only going to be one book. I don’t have enough material to stretch it out any longer. My fantasy world is the opposite. Right now, I’m at five novel ideas (one in the pro…[Read more]

for me, I had more than one unanswered question that needed to be answered at the end of the story, I was happy with my suspenseful ending, and I wanted to make a series, because I have a whole world dreamed out and I have to write it down
I think if you can put it comfortably in one book, do it, if you can’t, then maybe write a…[Read more]

Ah, yes, the methods of the Shrike… They’re a bit startling coming from a creature that appears so harmless. Did you choose that pseudonym for your villain based off of our villains personality/characteristics?
Aww, thx! Yeah, that is sad. Dragons are so cool!
Well, it’s a bit like medieval fantasy in regards to the weapons and armor…[Read more]

@jodie-maile oof I almost never end up keeping my original ideas in a story, everything changes constantly until I write one I like, but everything plays like a movie scene in my head, so if I don’t like the scene, ‘cut!’ Lol
If I have to stick to something, then once I realize I don’t like it, I leave it alone for a bit, an hour, a day even,…[Read more]

@kathleenramm well most of my characters are based off real people that I either know really well or have observed, and I recognize people by their voices and I guess I note how they talk. I’m weird hahaha
Also, after that, I write how I think, so it seems to work well.
Idk if that made sense haha, but that’s the best I can explain…[Read more]
