Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Fanart (or, as my phone tried to correct it to, "Canary") in the forum Art 3 years, 3 months ago
@keilah-h Oo, nice! Ah, I think one reason I like it so much is because of all the emotions that each character brings me, from Sam and his dad to Rinzler and Clu… It makes me want to cry, especially the ending part.

@akbaer Sounds interesting! I have several at the moment (too many), but lately I’ve been working on a short story about a villain with a conscience.

@zatara Hi there! Welcome to the forum! I’m Linyang, though most call me Lin, and I enjoy writing fantasy/slice-of-life/crime/time travel stories. We’re so happy to have you here!
Ay, the only superhero movies I’ve able to fully enjoy is The Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan (probably because I’m a big Nolan fan), but I’d love to see more…[Read more]

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic What's your character's Lie? in the forum Characters 3 years, 3 months ago
@joy-caroline I don’t…actually…plot out Lies… I don’t like following the character arc template either, since it feels too constraining to me… If I do anything it is all purely by accident, since that’s the way I work.
Ahem. Anyways. Upon further examination of my stuff, I have realised that there are some characters who start out…[Read more]

@abigail-m Ay, thanks for sharing! I’m afraid my hands are a bit tied right now, but I’d be glad to give it a gander when I have the time!

@akbaer Hey there! Welcome to the forum! I’m Linyang, though you can call me Lin as well.
A fellow fantasy writer! How lovely. What can you tell me about your current WIP?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Have you ever fallen out of love with writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
@kathleenramm Ah, I’ve heard that the best stories are all written by people who’ve suffered. So, well, I guess when we’re going through trials, we can see it as something good for our writing.
Me… I’ve had times where I didn’t write, usually burnout. But never really fallen out of love with it, like I do with piano. I mean, maybe there have…[Read more]

@keilah-h Thanks for the tag! Yeah, most of the time I do fantasy. Nice scene! Very dramatic indeed.
*thinks for a very long time* Yeah, I really don’t remember or know what scenes I write are dramatic… Here’s a prologue from a short story that I’m working on, though:
“If you don’t tell me the information, lady, I’m afraid I’m going to have to…

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Maps (creative title, I know) in the forum Fantasy 3 years, 3 months ago
@faith-q Well, I’ve handdrawn really bad maps before…just to get an idea of what direction my characters are going. But yeah, there are online map-makers that you can use.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Christian Dystopian novel– easy read in the forum Novel Critique Requests 3 years, 3 months ago
@e-k-seaver I honestly don’t have much or any experience with writing or reading Christian fiction, so I honestly can’t be of much help, besides giving you, like, y’know, a regular reader’s perspective. You have my email already, so if you want to send it to me, I’d be happy to give it a read.

@nova21 XD Plenty of adventures to choose from!
I love your lines as well! Dylan sounds like he’d be quite hard to work with.
@writerlexi1216 Felicity sounds like what you described her as. Nice job!
@daisy-torres I’d want to be Catherine’s friend!
@lewilliams I want to meet Horace, like, right now. He sounds so proper.

@nova21 Oo, fun! Hard time to find which MC though, haha…
This is for Nan Jinqi, who’s, um, what is he like… He’s quiet and dependable, I think. Quite observant. Hard-working. I don’t know that much about him yet.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Overcoming Writer's Burnout : in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 4 months ago
@writerlexi1216 Ah, yes, the first time I won NaNoWriMo I didn’t write another word for 4 months. Not worth it lol. But since then I’ve built up my writing muscles.
For me I just keep floundering around in water like I’m about to drown. I tell myself I’m gonna keep writing, but in reality it’s so painful I can only get out 100 words a day. But…[Read more]
