I have a snippet of a scene from a contemporary story I’ve been working on recently. This scene sort of just flowed and I’m loving the sibling relationship between River (the MC) and her brother Blaze. I haven’t shared anything from this WIP before because it’s still very new, and quite honestly, I started it without having any idea of what the…[Read more]

@beth-torresLol… we were hiking through the fog one time and it gave me the warm fuzzies because it made me think of mystery novels. My dad was just mad because he couldn’t see the mountains we were supposed to be seeing, and to this day he still doesn’t understand why I liked the fog XD.Â

@acancelloI guess it depends what you use social media for and what you like to post. I do have Insta, and used to have Facebook. I think Facebook was easier to post on (Insta only lets you do ten photos in a post, so if you’re a photographer like me who likes to dump photos from a photo shoot, it’s a little frustrating. Also sometimes depending…[Read more]

Haha here are some Madlibs quotes from my household:Q: What is the strangest bench you have ever eaten?A: Boys dipped in gasoline.”While waiting, do not jump in the middle of the street. You might get run over by a sticky mushroom.””My head is growling.”

Oooh memories were just triggered lol. Enjoy this one:Classmate 1: *eating a Clif bar* “This looks like a dehydrated hamster.”Classmate 2: “What?”Classmate 1: “Yeah, like just imagine sticking a hamster in the food processor and dehydrating it. It would look like this.”Same classmate also remarked that he liked eating rotten wood with termites.

@highscribeofaetheriumI feel like a lot of people I know have been sick the past two weeks or so. My dad and I were just talking to our youth pastor at church this morning and he was saying his whole family had something this past week and several of them had fevers for three or four days straight. He himself said he couldn’t even drink coffee, it…[Read more]

@loopylinYeah it seemed like all of a sudden there were multiple glitches happening. The other day the forums stopped loading for me, too- I’d click on one and it would never open up. I finally gave up, and when I came back later it was fine.

@theducktatorUnfortunately, where I live in PA, most of the “mountains” are just really big hills lol. But my family has been going up to New Hampshire every summer for the past couple years. In my opinion, those are the best mountains east of the Mississippi. I’ve been to the Blue Ridge mountains, too, and they’re pretty, but they still don’t…[Read more]

@theducktatorAghhh my post was eaten… how unfortunate. Now I’ll have to type everything out again. Sigh. I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, because I love hiking, especially in the mountains. I write mostly historical fiction, contemporary, some mystery, and some journalism. I was also homeschooled, and technically I’m a PK, although my dad’s role…[Read more]

@esther-c @whalekeeperHere are my thoughts on the serious/not serious aspect of writing. I’m not necessarily agreeing/disagreeing, but I just wanted to add something else that came to mind while reading your posts. The Creator created us with creativity, and I think He has given us the capacity to be able to create things that reflect His…[Read more]

Idk if it’s just me, but the recent topics page will show that someone posted to a topic, but when I click on the topic, I don’t see their most recent post. Wyoh has been busy lately.Â

Trailblazer replied to the topic Playlists/Soundtracks/Etc in the forum Music 8 months, 3 weeks ago
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of worship music or instrumental worship while I write… it helps me focus on God while I’m writing, and the instrumental is relaxing and I don’t get distracted by other words lol. Other than that, I don’t really have a specific playlist for writing.Â

@freed_and_redeemedI think I’d say the same, that my characters are really what bring out the theme in my stories. If the characters weren’t learning and growing, then is it a book worth reading? I think the theme naturally begins to show itself through my characters as they discover things about God, about others, and about themselves. Everything…[Read more]
