I wanted to add some thoughts on the question of discerning truth. I agree with Whaley’s assessment, because if we are constantly making decisions based on how we feel, we’re headed down a dangerous path. Feelings and emotions don’t last; we may feel something one day and the next day have a totally different feeling…[Read more]

Trailblazer replied to the topic How to write non-magical fantasy in the forum Fantasy 1 year, 1 month ago
What exactly do you mean by non-magical? Or maybe a better question is, what things do you classify as magical? I feel like everyone has a slightly different take on what they consider magical. And also it depends how it’s used, too- C. S. Lewis has some in his books, but the approach he takes on it is different than other books.

Welcome! I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, and I write a lot of contemporary and historical fiction (which, if you’re interested in reading his/fic, feel free to check out the topic I started in the novel critique section, where I’ve been posting segments from my WIP), a little bit of mystery, and some journalism. I enjoy hiking and…[Read more]

I’m jumping into this conversation a little late, but just thought I’d mention another RP I’ve been in that just recently started. I didn’t start it, but it’s called Characters of England/ A 19th Century Role Play. Idk if that would interest you at all, but the first party just started and then the RP sort of stalled, so it would…[Read more]

Trailblazer replied to the topic Writing about weddings and kissing and more! in the forum Romance 1 year, 1 month ago
@acancello It’s a longer scene that I realized it was, so I’m gonna see if I can condense it. If not I might just post a link.

@anyone
Y’all I just remembered a really sweet scene in a story I’ve sort of set on the shelf for a little while now… the story needs some major tweaking (haha maybe remodeling is a better word) but there are a few parts of it that I want to keep, including the scene I just thought of. It’s better with context but I think it could stand alone,…[Read more]

Welcome to KP! I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, and I’ve been hanging around here for about a month now! It’s so fun to see new people joining! I write a lot of contemporary and historical fiction, but I’ve done some mysteries as well, and I also enjoy journalism. I like hiking, photography, and mountains.
A couple questions for…[Read more]

Welcome to KP! I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, and I write a lot of contemporary fiction, historical fiction, a little bit of mystery, and some journalism. I love the idea of writing about your great-grandfather; I’ve thought of doing the same thing, but never had quite the right inspiration for it. Aside from writing, I love reading, hiking,…[Read more]

Kari
Kari was surprised to see Ottoline when she opened the door, and even more surprised when Ottoline asked if Kari could do her hair and makeup. But Ottoline seemed timid now, and her bow and arrow were nowhere in sight, so Kari opened the door wider.
“Sure,…[Read more]

I had a teacher who used to pretend he was a cat…. Sometimes I questioned his sanity lol. I think he should’ve been teaching kindergarten instead of high school.

Trailblazer replied to the topic Hi guys! in the forum Start HERE 1 year, 1 month ago
Welcome! I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, and I write mostly contemporary/historical fiction, but I’ve also done a little in the realm of mystery, and I’ve explored journalism as well. Like you, I’m not much into sports, but I love hiking (and I will use any excuse to get to the mountains lol). I was homeschooled most of my life, but…[Read more]

“How do you do?” Adeline greeted a young woman with glistening black hair. “I’m Adeline Thurman.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Isabelle Jefferson,” the young woman replied. “Have you known the Baumanns before?”

“Are you okay, Amir?” Kari asked, looking at the shattered armor and the boy sprawled in the midst of it. She wanted to laugh, but poor Amir looked so embarrassed that she bit her tongue.
