I write under a pseudonym. To begin with it was just because I thought it sounded cooler and more fantastical than my real name, lol. And initials are pretty popular among speculative fiction authors (fantasy authors in particular). But as a woman it’s nice because I won’t have to worry about deciding whether or not to change the name I write by…[Read more]

I’m so sorry about your studio! Actually, you remind me a lot of my sister, cuz she’s starting tae-kwon-do, and she likes korean pop…[Read more]

Chamomile is the best. I like to imagine being wrapped in a fluffy blanket, writing my story with a candle and the Little Women soundtrack in the background. <3 Then I am happy. :)) (Which reminds me, are you big into movies? If so, which ones?)
That book journal sounds awesome! How long have you been doing it? It would be sup…[Read more]

Welcome Lavender! I’m Ella, nice to meet you! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Ohh nice, sci-fi and fantasy? Sounds pretty awesome to me. :)) I’m writing a book about a girl who’s trying to escape the last ship leaving earth (which is almost inhabitable) to save her sister, who was left behind. It’s a stor…[Read more]

Heyy Heaven! (I LOVE your name btw) Your blog is so pretty, and I love your mission too <33
CWW!!! <33 I’ve participated in it for two years but this year I didn’t because school was just too much work, but I agree, it is SO helpful! I hope you keep your writing streak on KP too!
Wait. Ahhh! I’m a tea drinker too! (wha…[Read more]

I’ll rephrase XD I write whenever I can, but not as consistently as I’d like. For example, over Christmas break, I wrote almost every day but as soon as school started again, I’m having trouble making time anymore. So summer is my dream time to write haha
Anywayys, I’m writing two stories when I can:
WIP Emiyn (em-eye-in) is a…[Read more]

Heyyy! I’m Ella, nice to meet you!!! Lana is such a pretty name <3
Oh yes, fantasy is amazinggg. I’m going back and forth between two WIPs: Project Emiyn (em-eye-in), where Earth’s climate is failing, and people have no choice but to go to space. Emiyn was chosen to be one of the Candidates for the space exploration, but…[Read more]

R.M. Archer replied to the topic What's something you wish you knew when you first started writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
I wish I’d known how to properly format dialogue and split up paragraphs. Some of my stories, even up until just six or seven years ago (which… actually sounds like a lot longer when I count the years XD), are really difficult to follow (or just plain cringey) because my paragraphs are a disaster and my dialogue is formatted improperly.

R.M. Archer replied to the topic Witnessing to Non-Christians Through Our Stories in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 2 years, 11 months ago
NO! The YA section needs more clean, quality stories. YA fiction is so, so, so important, because YA is where readers are trying to find out where they fit, and what to think, and what is important. They’re shaping their worldviews, and while our books won’t be the only voices shaping that (nor even the strongest, most likely), fiction is…[Read more]

R.M. Archer replied to the topic Have you ever considered quitting writing? Why or why not? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
Wait, what? You’re younger than me? I for sure thought you were 20-ish. XD
The thought of quitting has crossed my mind a couple of times. I have a tendency to look at my writing, or at my list of unfinished (and unstarted) projects, or whatever the case may be and think that I’m not really very good at the whole writing thing; I’m better at…[Read more]

R.M. Archer replied to the topic What's a story that you worked on for while but completely scrapped later on? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
Prose. Plots are still a struggle, and themes and characters are both a lot better but still a little hit-or-miss. My prose is still a little bare sometimes, but it’s at least much less stilted than it was then, lol.

@kathleen
A LOT of things, lol. The characters were all one-dimensional, the plot meandered, it was theme-less, the villain was incredibly non-threatening (especially for being a demon), my prose was lousy…
I was only about… 15 when I was working on it? Which doesn’t necessitate that it was awful, lol, but I’ve grown a lot with my writing in…[Read more]

Hm… This question is tough for me to answer because I don’t often work on stories for a long time and then completely scrap them. If I work on something for a while, it means there’s something to the story that keeps my attention for an extended period of time, and even if the story is largely unsalvageable, I’ll still keep it around in case I…[Read more]
