Agh, no! 🙁 That’s awful! I hope you can get through it quickly.

I’ll probably get there pretty soon! I know I have the order of the scenes pretty well memorized. Right now, the story can just feel very… blegh. I want to move on to the further adventures of my characters… 🙁 But for now, I must press onward. *sighs and casts a longing look at the future sequels*
Out of those three authors,…[Read more]

@relia I’m not British, so if there’s any Britishers on here, please feel free to tell me I’m an idiot.
Anyway, I’m Australian and we tend to swear a lot and very similarly to British people, for obvious reasons. “Bl**dy” (censoring because I don’t know everyone on here’s personal views on certain words), h**l and d*mn are all pretty “low level”…[Read more]

That’s so cool that you love ASL so much. I love Jo March too, and I loved the 2019 Little Women movie! Have you watched that version of the story?
The World War II era is so interesting! There are a lot of possibilities for writing in that era, which is what makes it such a popular historical fiction setting I suppose.
Welcome again! 🙂

Typos:
Night had decended upon the land, tucking her starry blanket over the sky and misting the fragrant, fresh scent of flowers and wild grass into the air.
Kathleen lay on the thick prairie grass, her bonnet temporarily discarded by her side as she stared up into the gentle folds of midnight sky. Her shoulders burned terribly from hours spent…

@nanisnook Honestly, I’m in the same boat right now lol. I always come to a point in my novels (usually about 6/8 of the way in) where I feel like everything I did is trash and I wasted 4/whatever years of my life on a dumb novel that no one will ever like or read. But you know what I tell myself? It’s my dumb novel, those are characters I love,…[Read more]

@nanisnook Good question! (Thanks for the tag! <3) Honestly, I probably need to do the whole “jump ahead” thing because I’ve been stuck on a scene for a month and haven’t written a word :))))) Sadly, I don’t, so I just procrastinate actually being productive and figuring out what I’m going to do lolll

SeekJustice replied to the topic Keep going or jump ahead? in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
I usually force myself to keep going through the scene. Usually all it needs is a few hundred more words and then I’m writing freely again. Having said that, in one of my last WIPs I got really stuck at a large portion and completely skipped four or five chapters and just kept going. It depends on what works for you really.…[Read more]

@sami-eastwood That synopsis sounds awesome! I would love to read a book about that!
Disaster movies are certainly unique. I don’t usually go to watch them but I have watched several. And those are an awesome choice of books!
Ah, I’ve heard of ranch dressing on pizza, though I have yet to try it! I will have to, though!

@nanisnook I usually end up procrastinating for a week and regretting it, but yeah I usually push on through instead of skipping around.

I’m doing…well, ok, but I’ve definitely been better. However, my job is going really well, abd I’ve just been offered a permanent position which is absolutely amazing! My dogs are good! Unfortunately a…[Read more]

Well, most of the time I just push right through it, but if a scene’s coming up and I don’t know what’s gonna happen AND I just don’t feel like writing it, I’ll just put: something really cool happens and move on. I’ve only ever done that once, tho, so it’s no a super common thing for me. 😉

Lydia S. replied to the topic Not sure if I should add an idea to my book in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 5 years, 3 months ago
I think it sounds like you could totally pull it off! It would add another element to the story as the siblings’ bond will be tested by an addition to the family. Also, depending on your storyline, you have an opportunity to have scenes where the twins get mistaken for each other, which, in my humble opinion, would be a ton of fun to…[Read more]
