SeekJustice started the topic Blogging Buddies Wanted in the forum General Writing Discussions 2 years, 5 months ago
I’m looking for blogging buddies! I recently rebooted my blog after a couple of years of really spotty posting due to…you know *gestures vaguely at the world*
But sadly it seems like most of my original blogger friends have grown up and got real adult lives (unlike me) and don’t blog anymore. Who’s out here running a blog? I’d love to get in to…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym, and why or why not? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
I started entering competitions and submitting work to magazines/anthologies when I was about 13 I think? I’m pretty sure I was first published at 14, and then had several other publications after that.

@faith-q You need to write at least one short story under Vierra F. Spring, and no one will understand except that one person who laughed at you.

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym, and why or why not? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
I was seriously considering using a pseudonym for several years, but I decided against it for a couple of reasons. One being that I started getting published when I was quite young, so my real name was already out there. I’ve won competitions under Chelsea Hindle, been published in magazines, and obviously did my internship here with that name, my…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Which story was the quickest to write and which was the slowest? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 1 month ago
All I can say is…wow.
That is…quite a lot of words.
The quickest I ever wrote a full length novel was in Camp NaNoWriMo one year, 2018 i think, when I finished my 90k novel in three weeks. I have never done that again 😛 I think the longest I’ve been actively working on a project is about eighteen months,…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's a book that hasn't aged well for you? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 1 month ago
I’m a huge rereader, so if there’s something I read in my youth and I can remember what it was called, I’ll probably reread it.
The ones that don’t stand up for me now are usually older books, like Pollyanna (while I like that Pollyanna is cheerful through a lot of bad things, personally I think she’s way too cheerful and the…[Read more]

Ooohh, Elsie Dinsmore…you’ve just brought up quite a lot of repressed memories. And you’re right, Elsie is the epitome of legalistic Christianity, and if that was an accurate representation of Christianity…well, I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with it.
But like you, it’s also one of the reasons I’m committed to writing…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic dealing with overloads of stress :)) in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 3 years, 1 month ago
Girl, I really just want to wrap you up in a big hug. I have a pretty good understanding of how you feel and it absolutely sucks. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it.
I also have chronic health issues, though not covid related, and with them comes a lot of chronic pain and chronic fatigue, so I get you there. It’s really hard trying…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever created a crossover fanfiction? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 3 months ago
@keilah-h sorry for my late reply! Almost all of my fanfics were for the kids/YA series Warrior Cats!

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever created a crossover fanfiction? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 3 months ago
@keilah-h I’ve written a lot of fanfiction in my life, but I’ve only dabbled in crossover fics. I guess it was never really my thing in particular. However, a lot of original stories have started out as “what if I blended les Mis with star wars?” or something like that! What crossovers do you enjoy writing?

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the harshest critique you've ever received about your writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
@kathleenramm I love this question!
This most difficult feedback I’ve ever received was on my little novel that I wrote when I was 17 and am still working on to this day. It was consistent feedback from the three people I’d picked to review the third draft and they all pretty much said the same thing, that I didn’t know my characters and that my…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever pantsed a novel? in the forum Plotting 3 years, 4 months ago
Yep! I’m somewhere in between a plotter and pantser, I pantsed some novels and plotted others. At the moment I’m pantsing my way through a historical fantasy novel, and my last WIP was almost completely pantsed too. However, I do tend to plot my NaNoWriMo novels, because I don’t write pantsed novels fast at all (I’ve been working on…[Read more]

Hello! Is anyone around? I’m currently studying, plus writing, plus reading over an old story so I can decide how to rewrite it. Anyone wish to join a lonely Australian?

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the most recent book you've finished? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 4 months ago
Haha 😛 I’m a qualified dog trainer and trained dogs professionally before the pandemic and I’d like to get back into it in a few years, I mostly read animal behaviour books to deepen my knowledge. But I do also like reading them for curiosity’s sake.
Hmm… personally I’m not sure what I would have done different. It seemed to me…[Read more]

I’ve read mostly nonfiction, animal behaviour books this year which probably isn’t going to be very interesting for ninety nine percent of the KP population 😛 The last fiction book that I read which wasn’t a reread was Wuthering Heights.Â

@maryg3
Hey! I’ve never tried using Wix before so I can’t give you any specific advice regarding that, but I have been maintaining a blog for almost 5 years at this point.As to what you can write about…well, people often suggest just writing about one topic, because that way anyone who stumbles on your blog will immediately know whether or not…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's your character's Lie? in the forum Characters 3 years, 4 months ago
I love this topic! Thanks for starting it.
Personally, I don’t really plan these things out, so I can only identify my character’s lies after I’ve finished a first draft, sometimes much later (second or third draft). One story I’m just about to start the fourth draft and I’ve only just worked out the lies of the majority of the m…[Read more]
