@maryg3 I can relate to the uneventful childhood! I was homeschooled and we lived remote. like, the nearest city with a Costco was 6 hrs, and people think an hour is nothing to go visit each other. And we only had one vehicle that my dad drove to work, so the only real social interaction with people was Sundays and the occasional church potluck.…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I’ve never been to a waffle house at any time of day, so my imagination is doing a good job of creeping me out XD
And I totally know what you mean about the doppelganger thing!!! I know two people who are totally unrelated (well, we’re all human, so all related that way but you know what I mean) and they look and sound very similar,…[Read more]

Elfwing replied to the topic Planning out a trilogy! in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 1 month ago
@joy-caroline oh bother! it ate my response again, now I can’t remember hahah
Anyhow, pretty much; if it works to make it into three, then do it. I made a 6 book series because I wanted to make a story about the lives of the people in my world. I ended book 1 with a cliffhanger that is (hopefully) suspenseful and emotional, and a major moment…[Read more]

Elfwing replied to the topic What's something you thought was necessary in writing, but actually wasn't? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 1 month ago
For me it was that as in real life, the antagonist does not have to be a corrupt human or evil demon kind of thing; it could be anything.
Everyone has something in their life that is their ‘antagonist’, it may be a literal person being a pain in the butt, but it could be anything from financial problems to chronic pain to health…[Read more]

@lydia-s mwahahahah well… let me pull something up out of my 1000 pages of organized chaos called a series XD
hahaah my charries sound insane out of context, but I think the lines do sum them up pretty well XD
and I love that line of yours, the shotgun one. Made me laugh out loud and startle my cousin XD

@kathleenramm I am so late to this topic, i haven’t been on here in over two weeks lol
Well my greatest strength? whew, I am not sure; probably making new worlds and ideas with every moment I am awake and not preoccupied with life, so… endless ideas that I can use in stories? XD
Weakness…
Well, I’d say Im weak in a lot of areas, but…[Read more]

@daisy-torres My mom has tried the essential oil trick but all it did was clear my sinuses haha. What happens when people lose their sense of smell and taste to covid, is that the inflammation sometimes causes damages the nerve endings, affecting smell and taste. I was sick for almost two months, so I guess it did *shrugs
I have tried…[Read more] -
Elfwing replied to the topic How to know if your book should be a standalone or series? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 1 month ago
for me, I had more than one unanswered question that needed to be answered at the end of the story, I was happy with my suspenseful ending, and I wanted to make a series, because I have a whole world dreamed out and I have to write it down
I think if you can put it comfortably in one book, do it, if you can’t, then maybe write a…[Read more]

@mkfairygirl aw I’m sorry, that’s kind of scary 🙁
I do have some tips, I was sick for over 6 weeks with long covid and almost hospitalized, and although I didn’t have pneumonia, my lungs were pretty bad.
I’m still struggling with tiredness and achiness and loss of taste and smell a year later. If I’m around people for two hours and it exhausts…[Read more] -

Elfwing replied to the topic When you don't like the direction of your story… in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 1 month ago
@jodie-maile oof I almost never end up keeping my original ideas in a story, everything changes constantly until I write one I like, but everything plays like a movie scene in my head, so if I don’t like the scene, ‘cut!’ Lol
If I have to stick to something, then once I realize I don’t like it, I leave it alone for a bit, an hour, a day even,…[Read more]
