I am sorry for being late to this topic, but you’re definitely not the only one who’s wanted to chuck everything in the garage. I myself probably feel like doing that almost every other week since I often feel like my writing is scrambled, unclear, or just plain unsalvageable. And we’re not alone either, one of the greatest write…[Read more]

Hi Milena! Welcome to Kingdom Pen! I’m Abigail by the way and you write poetry? That’s awesome! 😀 Poetry is one of my very favorite things to write and there’s always so many fun formats and freedom with it. Do you write structured or freestyle poetry? Do you have a favorite poem or poet?
Once again, a hearty welcome:D It’s amazing to…[Read more]

Hi Elfwing! I am really sorry about this late reply, and I truly appreciate your patience with me here:)
Ooh, I LOVE the dynamics you created with the griffons and the firebirds. That’s extremely creative and intriguing! 😀
*High fives* That’s awesome! Not too many writers use omniscient, so that’s cool that you do as well. Three side…[Read more] -

Hi Joy! Sorry for being late here, but yes! I understand exactly what you’re feeling about your writing. I don’t think my writing goes as heavy and deep as yours, but I often delve into deep themes, allegories, and topics. So you aren’t alone one bit and I concur with @lewilliam s when she says we’re always growing and learning. And…[Read more]

Hi Alexa! (Btw, I don’t think I ever asked you, do you like Lexi or Alexa better? Either is 100% awesome. I was just wondering:)
Don’t worry about it at all:) And I agree sophomore is really tough to wrap up, but that’s awesome that you did last week! 😀 Relief isn’t it? I mean, afterward, there’s always so much more time for…[Read more]

Hi! Welcome to Kingdom Pen! It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Jodi, one of the writing interns for KP. When I’m writing my stories, I usually write fantasy, historical fiction, and sometimes dystopian fiction.
I’m excited to read your poems! I love the poetry Kingdom Pen publishes. Short stories can be super fun–I’ve been trying to do one a…[Read more]

This is the story of my life. I’ve struggled with this during so many stories. My best advice to renew your interest in the story would be to do any of these things:
Up the stakes
Let some characters encounter the consequences of their choices and have to navigate those consequences
Give the protagonist a specific amount of time…[Read more]

@joy-caroline I just remember that my previous WIP had a boring plotline as well! Honestly, I’m not sure what I did to make it more interesting though!!😂 My MC kinda took control and then changed EVERYTHING I had planned before the plotline became interesting. So, yeah, I hope you’ll work it all out for your story!!!!!!! 😀 <33

@joy-caroline Something like this has happened to me. I was working on my current novel several weeks ago and found myself bored with it. So, I decided to skip the boring scenes and write a more interesting one. Though I’m not sure that helps with your situation. On the other hand, I not all that great with plot anyway (at least, I don’t think I…[Read more]

Oooh, new story!!!
Oh, yeah, this happens allllll the time. And when it happens for me, it’s pretty awful, ’cause I get bored REALLY EASILY in stories.
which may or may not explain why I was insane enough to have a fight scene on PAGE SEVEN in one of my novels *sheepish grin*Well, this is the best advice I’ve EVER heard when it…[Read more]

Ooof, sorry it took me forever to get here. I’ve just not had the time to be very active on KP liked I’d wish. :,(
Anyway, the biggest thing is seriously DON’T COMPARE. I always get soooo down on me and my writing whenever I start comparing my sloppy, first draft to my favorite novels ever. But then I have to remember that you know…[Read more]

Girl, you are not the only one! I get discouraged over my writing all. the. time. It’s sooo much easier to feel bad about our writing more than it is to feel good about it. But God doesn’t want us to feel discouraged over our writing – something He has given you the interest and passion for. You can ask God to help you view your writing…[Read more] -

Hey there! I love a good mystery, and some of my favorite novels are legal thrillers XD
I have some ideas for you:
What if Jocelyn wasn’t the main suspect at first? What if there was another suspect who was the main suspect until they were killed, and then Jocelyn was framed for both deaths?
What if someone important/close…[Read more]
