I think this is very interesting! Love where you’re going with Torrent, Indy, and this mysterious cave of rebels. Beaumont sounds like he’s going to be a great side companion too, but what I find really neat about this is the involvement with Indy and the possibility of Torrent getting an alliance from these rebels to find her fat…[Read more]

Abigail.M. replied to the topic Making Bible Characters Relatable in the forum Biblical Fiction 4 years, 6 months ago
Hi, JC! I adore this topic and everything you said in the description! You described writing and giving flaws to Biblical characters extremely well. It’s so true what you said that people from the Bible often feel distant and in a different universe than we are in. Which is true to an extent since they lived so long ago and dealt w…[Read more]

Wow, it has been a while since I’ve been here… feels awesome to be back:)
Ooh! An allegorical fantasy!? That is awesome and I was so curious as to what this story could be about when I read the title. Then as I was reading the description, I was thinking WOW! I like this a lot.
Kai sounded like such an amazing character and jus…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic What aspect of writing have you grown most with as a writer? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
@kathleenramm I think for me it was probably plot and themes. I remember when I first started writing I didn’t really know what themes I wanted to write about, how to incorporate them, or if I even wanted a theme. Now I think that everything I write has multiple themes woven throughout, though I can’t quite tell what they are. (This is why I…[Read more]

What aspect of writing (characters, prose, theme, etc.) have you grown the most with as a writer?
For me the biggest part of writing that I’ve grown most in throughout the years, is learning how to not make a story contrived. When I was younger I thought there had to be a set amount of events and plot points in my story for it to be a interesting…[Read more]

Okay, I’m going to reopen The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes now. Even from what I read, though it wasn’t my favorite, I still learned a lot about writing from it. The writing style really inspired me to develop mine.
I love how you described it like poetry or song. Because it’s so true, yet it’s not blatant or distracting. Which is…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic Topic suggestion for Biblical fiction writers in the forum Questions and Support 4 years, 6 months ago
Awesome idea! And since I have unlimited power with whatever is created on the site *chuckles evilly* Biblical Fiction is now a topic under “Genre Fiction”!
If there is any technical issues with it, just let me know and I’ll get right on it!

Kathleen replied to the topic What’s an unexpected place you got a story idea from? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
Haha, well, it doesn’t really have to be exciting to be unexpected.
Like the amount of times I’ve gotten story ideas out of an unexpected look, laugh, or hello is absurd.
Have you ever gotten an idea for a certain trait for a character from a person you know?
That’s cool. Now you’ll have to credit Evanescence as a co-writer…[Read more]

@maryg3 I can relate to the uneventful childhood! I was homeschooled and we lived remote. like, the nearest city with a Costco was 6 hrs, and people think an hour is nothing to go visit each other. And we only had one vehicle that my dad drove to work, so the only real social interaction with people was Sundays and the occasional church potluck.…[Read more]

Oof, yeah. Present tense first person isn’t something I’ve ever tried, but I can already see it going terribly wrong, haha.
The ending is pretty good? I was always a little curious about how it was going to end, but know I’m even more intrigued. I guess I’m going to have to finish it then!
As for your questions about The Hunger…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I’ve never been to a waffle house at any time of day, so my imagination is doing a good job of creeping me out XD
And I totally know what you mean about the doppelganger thing!!! I know two people who are totally unrelated (well, we’re all human, so all related that way but you know what I mean) and they look and sound very similar,…[Read more]
