It is traumatic. I was telling my brother about my book and about Rubin, when suddenly I stopped and just said “oh no.”
He started laughing.
Since then it has been a battle of ‘why’. If his death wasn’t a pivital point in my story, he would have a good chance of surviving. As it is, I already have a song for his funeral.

Oof, Korean is hard sometimes. I think I only struggle mostly with pronouncing the vowel sounds accurately… and sentence structure… and formal tones… and… you get the picture. It’s great to learn tho!
Learning is made a lot easier, since I’ve been blessed with a tutor who’s half Korean, and can speak and read it. I was nannying…[Read more] -

Poor Jake… :'( Love the lines, though!
Ruben sounds like an amazing brother and an amazing character! I’m a fan already. 🙂
Agh, I love the accent! Otto sounds like a fun guy. XD
Aww, thank you so much! <3333

Oooooo, I’m glad you asked!!! Honestly, the first thing I would do is give the character internal questions. Like, if the character is worried about something, show the reader he/she asking the question to him/herself. Like how @scoutfinch180 did in the first two examples Scoutillus gave. Inner monologue can really go a long…[Read more]

Pleasure to meet you!
I am @ScoutFinch180. I am 19 years old and recently graduated high school. I love fantasy as well and have roughly 6 completed stories, two short stories approximately 8,000 words long, and then some pieces of flash fiction 500 to 1000+ words long. I’ve written much more than that in the form of…[Read more]

(@scoutfinch180 Very good point!)
My eyes fell on a bottle of chipotle chili power perched upon a brand-new package of double-sided tape.
A rescue? I think not…this called for a trap.
(Question: with the “three sentence rule”, does that mean three grammatical sentences or more like three lines? Mixes of dialogue and fragment sentences make i…[Read more]

Kaunon has been into a lot of scrape and survived by the skin of his teeth, the scares are from fire battles and a nasty sand dragon that tried to eat him and when that didn’t work it tried to crush him 😂
here is the meeting of Alinnas parents
Gaol kept flying north, and after a few hours of steady flight, passed the m…

@scoutfinch180 Hi! Thanks for the input. I’ll see how I can improve it for sure! 🙂 I’m not really into emotional scenes of this kind but these two have a special relationship, so I wanted to add it. And this is the first draft which is why there may be repeating words, and thank you for mentioning that as I sometimes forget that kind of stuff X…[Read more]

Thank you for tagging me! I’m glad I didn’t miss this:) It hooked me right on the sentence where the siren’s tail is mentioned and from there I was reeled right into the story. The songs and aesthetic were awesome, the only suggestion I can make in that area is that the second line of the third song felt kind of prolonged and…[Read more]

@scoutfinch180 if I may, I simply glanced at KP for a moment, but now after reading this, I want more of its kind.
I love this captivating little tale. Criticism I don’t have much of here, it was pretty compact, perhaps a little less scene description if you’re really trying to shave it down further. Maybe explore more of the curiosity that the…[Read more]

I also like the Chosen One hero, but sometimes I feel like it’s a bit over done in fantasy and dystopian novels.
Yeah, I definitely agree about anti-heros. I really like strong and inspiring characters, that although are from from perfect, are still striving for good.
And this is probably one of the most popular…[Read more]

Hi guys! I need some brainstorming help for my Camp NaNo project…
Let me break it down:
Hope, MC, is living in the wild with no one except a stray dog as a friend. She lives in a cabin in a valley, surrounded by cities full of hostile people (who are diseased). The cabin is strange–there are weird sounds in the attic, strange knocks on th…[Read more]

Hello everybody!! 😉
Have you ever had a fantasy world in your head that you just wish you could actually see?
Welp, y’all, look no further.
I stumbled upon a program similar to Photoshop recently, it is actually very easy to use and very quick too. It’s possible to make portraits (that can look either very real, like actual people, or on the a…[Read more]
