Finally a place to share this thought!
You know you’re a writer when a random sentence in (insert language) class strikes your fancy, so you write a short story instead of finishing your lesson.
For instance:
(.אנחנו הילדים)

Let’s hope I’m not double posting this…
You know others know you’re a writer, when your dad says in front of the whole church “when my girls hear the word ‘character’, they instantly come up with things like backstory and plot.”
And when you added “character arc, weapon choice, world building” under your breath, you know it’s true.

A few George MacDonald quotes:
“Whatever is capable of aspiring, must be troubled that it may wake and aspire–then troubled still, that it may hold fast, be itself, and aspire still.”
(If you love Sir Gibbie…) “Gien I was a Burnie, wadna I rin!”
“For one moment…she fancied she saw the Lord Himself. Another woman might have made a more…[Read more]

Here’s an assortment of quotes from my WIP IFF.
“So, I smiled and waved as any other highly trained operative would do as they pencil dove from the top of a fifty-thousand story river lodge.”
“Who do you think you are, Spiderman?” Master Pinkerton glared at me over his glasses.
I straightened my collar and shrugged. “Actually I prefer James…[Read more]

Hello there, and welcome to the Kingdom of Pen! I’m Koshka, a writer of middle-grade fantasy and spy-fi (if that’s a word), besides the occasional rambling poem. I was homeschooled as you’ll find most of us Keepers are.
(I have yet to write someone I didn’t like into a book, but I have seriously considered it)
Now for the…[Read more]

Do you want individual scene ideas, or help coming up with them?
Here’s what I’m sort of doing to come up with scenes. I’m using the Save the Cat notecard system for plotting.
For Act II (fun and games) is basically the characters either “winning” or “losing” as their arc decides. So…
What is the big story point you want this a…[Read more]

Koshka replied to the topic Playlists/Soundtracks/Etc in the forum Music 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I have two mixed playlists that I’ll listen to while
daydreamingstory building, one for each series. They’re basically a mixed up playlist of songs (and a few sound effects) that somehow connected to a character. So yeah, I probably should organize those more.
Then I have a playlist of just instrumentals that I’ll listen to when I’m writing…[Read more]

Sure! I can’t wait to meet her.
And yeah, groups usually get too big when there are too many authors, not characters. XD

“Mornin’.” She nodded to the men and flashed a smile at Eleanor. “Good to meet you too.”
Eleanor gave what could have passed for a smile in Siberia. The jitters melted away from Amanda’s step. I guess she saw something I didn’t, something she understood and…[Read more]

Also, hehe, what year did you pull Leon and Isaiah from for this RP? Because…
Half Raffe’s family is Israeli, and he has dual citizenship. So, is Raffe a citizen of a country that doesn’t even exist yet, or is he part of a really controversial state?
What time did you say Marek and Elenore are from? Cause…[Read more]

The hall went quiet for a moment but for the quiet patter of footsteps. A quiet patter that was practically shuddered in my head due to its sheer volume, or rather lack thereof. I shrugged to Raffe when he glanced my way and kept a faint smile in position.
Beeeeeep.
Great. I casually slapped a hand over my…[Read more]
