When taking a look at that Isaiah passage, I think it might be important to note the difference between God’s will and God’s heart for his people. Certainly God longs for the Israelites to turn back to him. But he ordains that they do not, from what I can see in Scripture, for purposes of his own.
I think there’s a d…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting Thank you so much, Linyang <3 That’s so kind of you to say that. Haha, it seems like I remind people of their different friends or family, I guess… maybe I just have that kind o…[Read more]

Libby replied to the topic What is a popular book that you dislike? Why do you dislike it? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 10 months ago
@nova21 I know, right? Pride and Prejudice is pretty hard to beat ; ) I’d with @devastate-lasting and definitely recommend Oliver Twist if you ever get the chance.
Also, thank you for your comment on my profile pic. That’s so, so kind and it made my night <3 I was dressed for my brother’s wedding, though, so I don’t look that nice everyday ; )

@devastate-lasting Thanks for tagging me : )
@r-m-archer So, when it comes to attaching “san” to the end of a name, it depends on the situation whether you attach it to the surname or first name. In intimate settings, I’m called “Libby-san” or more often “Libby-chan” by my elders…[Read more]

Please forgive me, everyone I responded to in the last week, for not replying sooner! Life got a little crazy during the fall and in December, but I’m hoping to get back into the community in the coming months. Thanks for your patience.
In Christ,

I completely understand not wanting to read through all the longgg posts ; ) Not a worry.
To answer your questions, I like to play classical piano mostly, though I enjoy hymn-arrangements and some movie soundtracks. Genres I like to read include biographies, history, historical fiction, faery tales, classics, theology,…[Read more]

@kathleenramm The Hunger Games sound like such a cool series. I’ve got the first book, and I’m hoping to dive in soon. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and a little more on the other books, too. I’ve added them to my ever-growing TBR list : )
That’s so neat that you’re so invested in learning Korean. I’ve never absolutely love…[Read more]

@seekjustice I’m over here bemoaning the fact that you just dismissed Oliver Twist and Pride and Prejudice in the same paragraph, haha. It’s so interesting to hear everyone else’s opinions, but it makes me sad when people don’t like the books I love ; )
@kathleenramm Perhaps one of the things I love most about Pride and Prejudice is how Aus…[Read more]

Today I read a couple more chapters into A Long Way Gone.  It’s certainly a lot heavier than I expected. I don’t know what to think yet, except my heart is just breaking over what the author and so many had to go through.

@william-starkey I do remember you from Story Embers on some of the poetry threads. It’s good to see you here. And congrats on being a poetry intern – that’s wonderful!
Yes, I love Into the West, it’s so poignant and deep. Glad to hear that you like it, too : )

@gracie-j I’ll have to check Lifehouse out sometime for sure then ^.^
Ah, I see. Somehow I thought you’d already read Wuthering Heights. That makes sense.
Haha, well, I wish I had more to tell you about my novel (entitled Grey for now). I should probably write a blurb, but I don’t have one yet. I tried to work on it during NaNoWriMo…[Read more]

Well, I hate to say this but I honestly didn’t like Animal Farm that much. The ending… :'( Excellently written, super relevant, some people would say brilliant, and I wouldn’t disagree with all that. But I like books that have at least semi-satisfying endings, even if they’re sad. Animal Farm was depressing and left me with this feeling of ju…[Read more]

Similarly to SeekJustice, I grew up around language – not in my own family where “stupid” was considered a “bad word” by us kids for a while (not anymore), but my best friend regularly spouted ugly language, along with others I grew up with. I could never bring myself to say out loud or in my head any of those words, even when my friend…[Read more]

@kathleenramm It’s hard to enter a writing community without meeting people who like The Lord of the Rings : ) I’ve heard a lot of people like The Hunger Games trilogy, but I haven’t yet read it.  If you don’t mind, what about it did you like? Would you recommend it to any reader, or is it a book you think only some would appreciate?…[Read more]
