Only advice I have is just brainstorming. If you want it to be really unique, think of a different concept or idea that could maybe be tied into the story, but I don’t think it has to. If the plot and characters are good readers won’t care if the setting isn’t super distinct. Maybe @thearcaneaxiom could help? (Sorry if she already tagged you.)

Hi, Miriam! It’s nice to meet you! I’m Hybridlore or Hybrid on here, and I write YA science fiction mostly. I’m a high school sophomore, and I’ve also been homeschooled my whole life! Some things I like are singing, playing my violin, and reading.

Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Hybridlore, a violinist, science fiction writer, and also a homeschooler, but I don’t live in Canada, lol.
That’s awesome! I think @kyronthearcanin either is or used to be on YWW, and hmm… I know there’s some other people on there but I can’t remember who right now.
Some newbie questions…

Sure! Also, is there a connection between CHIME and the whole moon situation, or no? Because you might not want to name the book something related to the moon if it doesn’t really come up in the book. Does that make sense? Basically, if the power shortage thing is just the setting of the story and doesn’t really have anything to do…[Read more]

@acancello
Yep! I don’t think it’s unrealistic that scientists would try to launch something into space to collect energy, although I don’t really know how sunlight and energy works out there. @thearcaneaxiom might have some better suggestions. (Sorry if you’ve already been on this topic, I don’t remember.) -

Okay, got it. So it harvests energy from the sun (maybe because it’s slightly close to the sun than the earth is?).

hybridlore replied to the topic Help with a title? in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year ago
So, where does the moon get the energy from? And why wouldn’t it just be like, a satellite or something? What’s special about a moon?
I’m thinking maybe something with Lunar in the title? Lunar Overload..?
I kinda think Eclipse would be interesting, because it references the moon and basically, they’re having an electricity…[Read more]

Those are good points! I’m using the You version app, but I might check out the Bible project app! I don’t really have too much to add, but I enjoyed reading what you guys thought!

hybridlore replied to the topic What is the cringiest thing you've ever written? in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year ago
If it were in a published book I would think ‘this isn’t very good,’ but for what it is, it’s not bad. How were you that good at seven?
Exactly!! That’s pretty insane, lol.

hybridlore replied to the topic How many stories/books have you written? in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year ago
Unless it was a historical fiction or something, which doesn’t allow that sort of thing.
Fawkes and Romanov by Nadine Brandes are both historical fiction with fantasy mixed in. They’re both really good.

I have only ever finished a flash fiction piece, a short story, and a cringy picture book when I was like seven. But I have a ton of started and abandoned ideas, ranging from like a page long to 20k words. I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish any of them, but I might go back to some eventually.
Now I lean towards softer science…[Read more]

@esther-c @savannah_grace2009 Hey! I’m really interested in Abbie Emmons after seeing you guys mention her. I’m going to check out her channel, and maybe her book 100 days of sunlight. Have either of you read it?

Oh awesome!! She can have some really helpful stuff, but take it all with a grain of salt, because I feel like not everything she says works for every writer. (Like outlining your entire novel before writing it). But yeah, super helpful stuff. 😊
I’ve been wanting to, but haven’t gotten the chance yet. She has a sequel to that and I believe it’…[Read more]

I don’t know too much about that time frame, and I haven’t read any books in it that I can think of right now. Also, I have pretty much zero experience writing from male POVs, so I wouldn’t be much help there either, lol. But it does sound like a cool idea, and I would love to read it once you start it!
