You’re welcome! I can’t think of anything, but then, there might be something like that one of the mythology enthusiats here would know about. I don’t know much about fantasy in that direction myself.
Actually, Artham did inspire a character/creature in one of my books: essentially, the eagle I described above.
I was facsinated with…[Read more]

Wow, we do share quite a few favorite authors!
You like researching/designing fashion? Approximately, what eras hold the most interest for you, and what do you enjoy about it?
Personally, I enjoy learning about and recreating old clothing because I love history, and anyway, it’s great for world building! (Plus, hey, dressing up is fun.) 😉

Hmm, I’m not sure. The most similar thing besides angels (not fantasy, agreed) I can think of is either a pegasus or a huge eagle.
An eagle with a ten foot wingspan, strong protective instincts, and ready to sacrifice all if it would help those close to it.

And yes, that was MUCH more than needed. I got a bit carried away, I’m afraid.
My sincere apologies.

Thank you! (It’s a phrase deeply precious to me.)
Yours is beautiful too. I love a good quote!
As for my allegorical WIP, not only would I like to share it, but I need to hash it out with someone other than my sister. (Not that that is her fault, she’s a wonderful person to work stuff over with, and she’s welcome to comment on it,…[Read more]

I don’t know if I’m good at world building, but I completely agree. It’s fun.
Ban Rona was a mess. Yes, I fought, what’s more, I fought for my life. Those battles are longer in experience than in the records.
Edmund taught you? Wow, that must have been an amazing experience. I’m currently under the training of Master Sejus. 😉

I heard a few if the Piano Guys’ stuff, but it was a while ago. They’ve done a lot of good arrangements basing off what I’ve heard.
Yep, Beethoven’s work is beautiful, but I’m definitely not there yet. 😉
Who’s my favorite wingfingy character? Artham, Janner, or Kalmar, but perhaps Sarah or Arundel? (Or Nia…) It’s hard to choose,…[Read more]

Elishavet Elroi replied to the topic What's something you wish you knew when you first started writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 4 months ago
I’m still rather new to this, so I’ll probably be coming up with great answers for this question in about two to three years. 😉
However, I do wish I understood both the importance of developing my characters and not to be afraid to change something even after months of work. Also, just to think through where I want my story to…[Read more]

Oh no! XD
So far I’ve loved shaping a little mirror of reality, so I hope as I get more in-depth it won’t stage a mutiny or petrify into something else. The one I’m the most concerned over is my allegorical series. It’s just not an anything-goes-here kind of situation when it’s a figure of Christianity and salvation. (Eeek!)

Sorry I took a while to respond. Anyway, yay! I don’t know exactly how I’ll work it, but it’ll definitely be something like that. Yes, fantasy is so open for creativity: that’s probably why I’ve ended up in that genre.

Ah, plotting is climbing a mountain: hard, but worth it at the top. Your WIP sound so interesting. I’ve never read dystopian, but yours captures one of my all-time favorite themes: ‘what is truth?’. Yeah, definitely a book I might read.

Hello there, and welcome to KP!
I’m called Elishavet Pidyon around here. *Curtsies* It’s nice to meet you.
What songs do you like to play the most? I’m just learning to read music.
I love art too, meaning that I can paint some, but mostly draw, and enjoy photography. Your art sounds interesting. I’ve not really tried hand lettering…[Read more] -

Hi, @annabelle !
Ach! Those are all great characters. Artham is probably my absolute favorite, but, yeah, it’s hard to choose. 😉

Ah, that library. I have only been able to visit a few times, and after getting lost in the secret passages, they make sure I have a guide. I still don’t know how I found that passage….
I am from a village called Kigor about five day’s journey to Rysentown. However, I was not born in Aerwiar, and if my suspicions are correct, I’m…[Read more]

Ah, it is good to meet another Annieran here. As for my favorite THAGS I am at a bit of a loss. I obviously love Word, but Form…Â some of my earliest memories include drawing. As for Song, music is truly amazing. I guess Form or Word. Or Song, oh dear.

Or spinach!? You might have just saved my rapidly crumbling castle.
Ah, emotion. I don’t know if I write it well, but I do love to sort out highly emotional scenes from a character other than the POV, so I write them a lot in my head. Then they usually become convoluted as I try to write them down and I end up with a REALLY weird…[Read more]

Yay!! Thank you, I hope is was encouraging at least.
Speaking of miracles, I’ve been thinking. Why do we need magic in our books if we have a powerful God? I have nothing against using magic as an allegory of His power, but I realized that just because I don’t have magic in my books doesn’t mean I can’t have unexplainable things!…[Read more]

Oh, and I love this topic too. For my work to be good, I will want it to edify the reader in some way. Bunches of my stuff is to entertain, but I want to put lessons/themes in them too.

Ok, so I don’t know if you’re still working over miracles, signs, and wonders, but I thought I’d join in, if it’s all right.
I understand how miracle scenes can fall flat. God is so amazing, and our best writings are so inadequate to describe Him.
Then what to do when writing miracles? Well, what do we do when we see miracles? Do…[Read more]

So, I have noticed that I’m not the only person using symbolism in my WIP, and I thought it would be beneficial to have a place to discuss our allegories and find both inspiration and critique. Hence this board.
This is for all the parable tellers around here, whether your tale is a complete retelling of a Bible story, or dedicated to expanding…[Read more]
