SeekJustice replied to the topic Does this sound remotly interesting to anyone? in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 4 years, 1 month ago
Sounds like a fascinating story idea! I just don’t know that you can fit all that in one short story!

SeekJustice replied to the topic Merch much? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 2 months ago
I’m a bit late to the party, but if I buy merch its always a hoodie, mug or notebook! Love the minimalist look, with maybe a sketch and a quote, or something like that.
I won’t be able to buy any merch, because shipping to over here is wildly expensive, so I’m sad about that. Good luck with it though!

SeekJustice replied to the topic Putting a Character where you live? XD in the forum Characters 4 years, 2 months ago
Only one! A dystopian novel I wrote is set in a futeristic version of the town where I live. I mean I really kind of destroyed my hometown and it was really quite fun.

I’m looking for blogging buddies! I recently rebooted my blog after a couple of years of really spotty posting due to…you know *gestures vaguely at the world*
But sadly it seems like most of my original blogger friends have grown up and got real adult lives (unlike me) and don’t blog anymore. Who’s out here running a blog? I’d love to get in to…[Read more]

Jenna Terese replied to the topic So….does anyone else have any advice on how to jump my book sales? in the forum Questions and Support 4 years, 2 months ago
@wilder-w So exciting! Here are some of the most important things in my opinion for promoting your book: 1) a website, 2) a newsletter/email list, 3) social media.
Think of your website as your “home base.” This is where you want to direct more traffic to, because there people will learn more about your book/whatever you’re selling, how to buy it…[Read more]

Jenna Terese replied to the topic How to make a side character more interesting? in the forum Characters 4 years, 2 months ago
@joy-caroline Something I try to remember when I’m working on side characters is that they are the main character of their own story. Even if they don’t have a POV in the story, they will have their own values, goals, motives, etc. in the story. I love working on their backstory, because it’s usually then that I discover their internal conflict…[Read more]

Jenna Terese replied to the topic How do you draft/write the "first" document? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 6 months ago
I used to totally pants my first drafts. Now I find it more helpful to make a plot outline and scene outlines before I get writing, but I still give myself the freedom to deviate from that outline if I feel like it. That’s just me though. 🙂

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic Does anyone write rap lyrics/rap music? in the forum Music 4 years, 6 months ago
Nice to meet you too, @Libby! So do you! 😊
I like to rap about whatever’s on my mind and what I’m feeling. It’s a refreshing mode of expression. 😁😎👍
What do you like to rap about?

Lately, I’ve been writing some rap lyrics. I don’t know why. I just felt like trying it, and it’s fun and therapeutic.
Still, I know very little about it, or if anything I’m writing is any good. So I was wondering if any of y’all are familiar with rap?

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic What come to you first? Plot or Characters? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
I would say that usually, I get a plot idea first, then the character just naturally shows up as I’m plotting, but sometimes I do get an idea for a cool character first, and then the story plots itself around them.
So it varies.
Plot and characters (or at least, main characters) are very connected for me, though. They’re essentially…[Read more]

I love a good bromance! Frodo and Sam’s friendship is so moving. I really enjoy reading about guys’ friendships, more than I do romance. Maybe because I’m a girl and it’s more mysterious to me? I don’t know.
All I know is that there’s something awesome and powerful about it, and also vaguely incomprehensible. XD
And cool. Which reminds me, I…[Read more]

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic Does writing energize or exhaust you? Or both? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
Writing energizes me and fills me with joy. I’m truly happiest when writing. I can get tired while writing, but it doesn’t usually exhaust me. It’s only really exhausting if the words or inspiration or whatever I need just isn’t flowing as it should. :/
But if I’ve turned my light off and I get a sudden spark of an idea… I may turn the light…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym, and why or why not? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 7 months ago
I started entering competitions and submitting work to magazines/anthologies when I was about 13 I think? I’m pretty sure I was first published at 14, and then had several other publications after that.

@faith-q You need to write at least one short story under Vierra F. Spring, and no one will understand except that one person who laughed at you.
