SeekJustice replied to the topic What's a book that hasn't aged well for you? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
I’m a huge rereader, so if there’s something I read in my youth and I can remember what it was called, I’ll probably reread it.
The ones that don’t stand up for me now are usually older books, like Pollyanna (while I like that Pollyanna is cheerful through a lot of bad things, personally I think she’s way too cheerful and the…[Read more]

Ooohh, Elsie Dinsmore…you’ve just brought up quite a lot of repressed memories. And you’re right, Elsie is the epitome of legalistic Christianity, and if that was an accurate representation of Christianity…well, I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with it.
But like you, it’s also one of the reasons I’m committed to writing…[Read more]

@calidris
YES the Haikyuu writers made you care for every team! But Karasuno is my fave, and Hinata my favorite character (but Tanaka and Nishinoya are hilarious too) 🙂 -

Girl, I really just want to wrap you up in a big hug. I have a pretty good understanding of how you feel and it absolutely sucks. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it.
I also have chronic health issues, though not covid related, and with them comes a lot of chronic pain and chronic fatigue, so I get you there. It’s really hard trying…[Read more]

That’s so exciting! 😀 I’d definitely recommend figuring out how you want the whole series to end. Ask yourself, at the end of the last book, what do things look like? Where are the characters? What has been resolved? What hasn’t? In regards to plot and character arcs, think of the series as a whole one big character arc, or one big…[Read more]

@keilah-h sorry for my late reply! Almost all of my fanfics were for the kids/YA series Warrior Cats!

@keilah-h I’ve written a lot of fanfiction in my life, but I’ve only dabbled in crossover fics. I guess it was never really my thing in particular. However, a lot of original stories have started out as “what if I blended les Mis with star wars?” or something like that! What crossovers do you enjoy writing?

Jenna Terese replied to the topic Multiple Protagonists in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 1 month ago
I can definitely understand your dilemma lol XD I personally don’t usually like books with that many POV’s (just because it can be hard to keep them all straight in my head), but that’s just me. I would say that you’re definitely doing something right if you’ve realized that each of your major side characters have protagonist…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the harshest critique you've ever received about your writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 2 months ago
@kathleenramm I love this question!
This most difficult feedback I’ve ever received was on my little novel that I wrote when I was 17 and am still working on to this day. It was consistent feedback from the three people I’d picked to review the third draft and they all pretty much said the same thing, that I didn’t know my characters and that my…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Have you ever pantsed a novel? in the forum Plotting 3 years, 2 months ago
Yep! I’m somewhere in between a plotter and pantser, I pantsed some novels and plotted others. At the moment I’m pantsing my way through a historical fantasy novel, and my last WIP was almost completely pantsed too. However, I do tend to plot my NaNoWriMo novels, because I don’t write pantsed novels fast at all (I’ve been working on…[Read more]

Hello! Is anyone around? I’m currently studying, plus writing, plus reading over an old story so I can decide how to rewrite it. Anyone wish to join a lonely Australian?

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the most recent book you've finished? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 2 months ago
Haha 😛 I’m a qualified dog trainer and trained dogs professionally before the pandemic and I’d like to get back into it in a few years, I mostly read animal behaviour books to deepen my knowledge. But I do also like reading them for curiosity’s sake.
Hmm… personally I’m not sure what I would have done different. It seemed to me…[Read more]
