Writing itself does not energize me, but thinking of characters and plots and stuff energizes me. I can be seen frantically scribbling in a notebook or laying awake at night thinking of something new to add, but I can also be seen in front of the computer typing with fatigue. In general, writing if I don’t really have a clear plan in mind exhausts me.

The plot usually comes to me first, although it is shortly followed by characters. For my current WIP, the plot kind of came at the same time as the characters since I had always wanted to write a story with triplets who possessed special talents. My plot ideas, however, are what made me actually start writing the story. In general, however, I come up with an idea which turns into a brief plot which usually ends up in my notebook of stories to write at some point. 😉

I guess since I did Jem last time, I’ll do his sister Jewel this time.
“Ouch!” she cried, “what did I hit?”
Jewel rolled her eyes and muttered something about it still being snooping as he opened the bag and pulled out a metal box.
“Now that is definitely snooping,” said Jewel, “what if someone comes in and asks us what we are doing?”
“How am I supposed to get down there without getting caught?” she replied.
And here’s some lines from Wisdom the other triplet:
“And rather boring,” added Wisdom.
“Are you sure you read that correctly?” said a surprised Wisdom
“Let me read it,” said Wisdom.
“Unfortunately, yes,” said Wisdom.
And lastly, here’s Serah the youngest sibling:
“Pride is never a good thing,” reminded Serah.
“Not except that it is special for some reason,” said Serah.
“How could it not be fake though?” said Serah.
Hopefully those make absolutely no sense. ;P

I think that it’s a great, workable idea, and I encourage you to work on it while you are still really excited about it. I am a total panster, so I understand how that works.
I have some questions that may help you develop the story more. What happened to the dad (is he still alive)? Is the only driving theme the sibling conflict? While that can work, it might need outside forces to make it more realistic depending on what you make their relationship like before they discover their abilities. How do they find their abilities and why did they not discover them sooner? You’ll need a plausible explanation for how all of that plus the world works, but I know that as a panster, you’ll figure that out as you go along. 😉 I like your thoughts for POV and having a main Protagonist. You’ll just need to decide if you’re going to equally develop the brothers as siblings or make them enemies, sidekicks, etc.
Anyway, just some thoughts to hopefully make your brain juices flow.

You sound a lot like my brother, except I didn’t do many strenuous physical things with him because he was so much older. He used to swordfight with my oldest sister all the time though. I’m sure your sisters appreciate your protectiveness (or not). ;P Thanks for sharing!
You sound a lot like my older sister who is 2 3/4 years older than me. We are definitely best friends, but we fight over the silliest things. All my siblings are either in college or graduate school now and I miss them a lot, but when they come home, you can be sure that we’ll have a disagreement over something trivial. 😉 I totally agree with you that siblings are great which is why I’m writing a book that involves siblings. =D

As for wordless communication, I can kind of relate since my siblings and I can understand each other’s facial expressions pretty well, but I imagine it is much more magnified with a twin.
That’s hilarious! My family doesn’t like to play Risk in general because it is sooo long. 😉
My siblings and I do not look alike at all, but people still mix us up sometimes. There has been some pretty awkward conversations with someone mixing up our names. Not so much with mixing up our looks though, they just forget which name belongs to who. I imagine that it is so much more complicated with twins! I hope to incorporate some twin/triplet swapping in my book. 😉

I actually read the second book first because it was the one we happened to have. I later checked the rest out from the library; therefore, I didn’t have enough time to actually analyze them or anything. Personally, I think that they are good books if you read through them at a decent pace and aren’t trying to analyze the writing. The first book I thought was boring. Since I had already read the second one, however, I ended up reading the whole series anyway. I can totally see how you reached your opinion, especially if you didn’t read the whole series. They weren’t the best books that I had ever read, but the overall plot kept me reading. I also liked some of the unique ideas that Peterson had and incorporated into his books. Although I must admit that I was disappointed at several points throughout the series, overall, I thought that the books were good.
Also, Podo does have a dark past that his grandkids discover.

Regrettably I don’t have a younger sister to tell stories to, however, that sounds like a wonderful way to hone in your story telling/book writing skills.

Ooh. An eagle would be cool! Come to think of it, I should add a bird to my list so that I could fly. 😉 How about if I I just combined being a lion and an eagle – an eagon?

Welcome to the forum! I also play the piano and violin and have an ocarina (I wouldn’t say that I can really ‘play’ it)! I have also been homeschooled my whole life and am a LOTR fan. I am a Christian fantasy writer as well, but haven’t worked on my WIP in a long time.
Now some questions for you (sorry if any of these have been asked already):
1) Do you have any pets?
2) What do you like to do besides write and draw?
3) What is your favorite movie?
4) If you had to become an animal, what animal would you choose to be?
I live on a farm so I have a lot of “pets” and enjoy reading, writing, taking pictures of the animals, creating things with Legos, spending time with my family, and doing pretty much anything outside. I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the Wingfeather Saga, although it would be impossible to say what my favorite book is. My favorite movie is either The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe or How to Train Your Dragon. If I had to become an animal, I would probably want to be either a cheetah, lion, or dolphin. Once again, welcome!
