Elizabeth replied to the topic Okay, I need a MaIn ChArAcTeR name in the forum Characters 3 years, 4 months ago
@whalekeeper I don’t really have any suggestions (naming characters is SO HARD oh my) but I just wanted to say that your character sounds so cool!! Phoenix powers sound so unique and generally just awesome. Also, props to you for revamping an old story!! *fistbump of solidarity as I recall the story that I started as a wee 13-year-old and has be…[Read more]

Elizabeth replied to the topic Christmas Sci-fi short stories, feedback is necessary in the forum Genre-Writing 3 years, 4 months ago
@sarafini Oooh I like this!! Especially the last line—really gives you a nice glimpse of the stakes. Also that’s super nice of you to write a short story for your parents for Christmas!!
A couple questions (because I’m curious and decided I’m just going to go ahead and be nosy about your story :P)
1. Does Jessica have a mom in the picture…[Read more]

@starofthenorth I blazed through the first 8 books in like a two-week span of time over a year ago, so pardon me if my memory is a little fuzzy 😛
I can definitely see why you would find the books too intense! I was rereading some of book eight yesterday actually, and was like… wow everything escalated very quickly. It’s definitely more in the…[Read more]

@felicity
Aw, I’m so happy that KP helped gave you what you were looking for! It’s awesome to have you as a part of the community. 🙂As for the genre, I’m thinking more slice-of-life modern-day with some fantasy, mystery, and maybe even a bit of paranormal/horror elements added in the mix as well.
I want it to feel both grounded and heartfelt…[Read more]

Kathleen!!! Welcome back friend!! I hope you’re doing well <3
Oooooh a new novel!! Always so exciting. How is drafting going so far?
As far as suggestions go: I’ll take one of your ideas a step further by proposing (aka daring) you to set the entire thing in a particularly decrepit Waffle House. (Just kidding. But for real, how…[Read more]

Wassup guys, I haven’t been active on the forum in a minute, but I’m back and writing a new novel!
Starting afresh, and writing my magnum opus. 😤
Since I’m in the brainstorming phase of the novel writing process, I thought it would be fun to see if the beautiful folk on the KP forum have any suggestions of what I should include with this…[Read more]

I can’t figure out her tag. That’s frustrating. I’ll have to look into that.
But here’s a direct link to my post on her blog, as well, so you don’t have to scroll down and find it.

I’ve self-published a standalone short story, two short story collections, and a novel. I prefer self-publishing, personally, for the freedom it provides and for the opportunity to work with my own choice of collaborators (editors, artists, etc.), but I would like to try traditional publishing down the road as well for the sake of…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic song lyrics critic and ideas for next verse in the forum Poetry Critiques 3 years, 5 months ago
Woah, this is awesome! I love the rhythm and the adventure-esc feeling to it.
The only suggestion I would have is to add some more specific details about your world or characters in the song. Like something that shows that this poem could only be written in this world, or by these characters. Like lyrics about a specific event,…[Read more]

The groups haven’t even grown out of hypothetical-hood yet, and Palpatine wannabes are already taking control smh.

Woah, great ideas! Don’t be surprised you end up seeing these things come into fruition in a very hypothetical way for a very hypothetical idea.
Ooh, those are really cool ideas. Both could even be fun things we could do here on the forum or blog!
Like a contest where the someone posts the first chapter,…[Read more]

Okay so I haven’t been super active on the forum lately, (tragic I know) but I return with a very hypothetical question. (Trust me this is very hypothetical and not in anyway going to impact the future of Kingdom Pen)
Say Kingdom Pen had a writing groups for each of the three types of writing we publish on on here, Short Stories, poetry, and…[Read more]

Woah, it’s really cool how your writing a story for your friend. To have someone write a book specifically for you, man, that’s special.
As for your question, the best thing I think to do is talk with the person you know who is a single father. And maybe, if it isn’t too touchy, mention that you are writing a book with a single father…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic I discovered a great book series all of you should read!! in the forum Book Discussions 3 years, 5 months ago
Nice! It was one of my favorite series growing up. But when I read them there were only three books in the series?
Huh, I guess the author decided to write a couple more because of their popularity. Are the last two books in the series worth reading?
Also, I’m quite curious, what would your ranking of the five books be?

Oh, having reread North! Or Be Eaten I can say I enjoyed it much more this time around and I’m not sure why I didn’t like it as well the first time? It features a culture I enjoyed, more character development for Tink and Artham (a couple of my favorites), and several other fun additions (to the characters, world, and conflict). It’s still not as…[Read more]
