Hah, those novels can be so stubborn in that regard sometimes. XP Best of luck with this one!
Series, no; novels, yes. I’m planning on writing a duology this year, which will be my first time writing anything that really builds on itself. I’m quite excited for it. 😁
XD Yeah, that’s always a pitfall that can be too easy to…[Read more]

Ooh, sounds awesome! 😍 This idea has a lot of potential. A few thoughts about your story in particular and fantasy in general, if I may. . .
#1: As I read through the descriptions of the countries, the line between light and dark felt a liiiiiitle too sharp. There are definitely times when that can work, and I get that you’re…[Read more]

Whoa, lots of awesome responses – one thing I’ll add is that it can be nice to focus on more than just one sense. If you usually describe the way the tears burn in the back of your character’s eyes, then mention the way the tears glint in the moonlight. If your habit is to describe how hoarse your character’s voice is, then show their…[Read more]

Yep! It’s very exciting! And that sounds awesome – have you written any series before?
Aw, thank you. The different reasons. . . hm. Evren has so much of me in her – the dreams, the love of stories, the things she’s drawn to. . . it’s been really interesting to explore that part of my personality through her. And L (who refuses…[Read more]

(Aww, thank you! ♥️)
Ah, but of course. *settles down and pulls out pen* Fire away.
I do indeed have a WIP – scheduled to be finished (first draft, anyhow) by the end of January. My favorite character is likely either Evren or L, for very different reasons. 😛
I write character-driven speculative fiction, and I love the grandeur of possibility…[Read more]

Karissa Chmil replied to the topic Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym, and why or why not? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 10 months ago
Mm, not really – when I was younger I did use a pen name for the most part on the internet just for safety reasons, but once I turned thirteen I started using my real name more.
Part of me is drawn to the idea merely because a pen name sounds fun (XD), but the rest of me just doesn’t want the hassle. Trying to constantly keep those two parts of…[Read more]

Imagine stumbling upon a website that calls itself Kingdom Pen. Imagine pausing, letting your eyes linger on the name – It’s beautiful, you think.
Imagine delving into the wonders of the wealth of knowledge that lay in the articles, of spending hours pouring over different tips and tricks and coming back again and again to learn more of how to…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I use a pen name, since I don’t really like other people knowing my real name, though for pieces I write in real life situations I use my real name. I think it’s cooler to have a name that I chose for myself, and it gives off the kind of vibe I want to give off.

I write under a pseudonym. To begin with it was just because I thought it sounded cooler and more fantastical than my real name, lol. And initials are pretty popular among speculative fiction authors (fantasy authors in particular). But as a woman it’s nice because I won’t have to worry about deciding whether or not to change the name I write by…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Currently can’t think of anything much, but I do have a short story idea that I’m expanding on, about a hitman hired to take out world leaders over enacting a law about teleportation.

To be honest, I’ve never totally gone through this problem. At one time when I first started writing, I did a little bit but I never stuck with a story long enough that it mattered. XD My current series, The Heir Saga, is probably the one book I am the most in love with and is closest to my heart, but after the end of book…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 One time I started a five book series that turned into thirty-six books and now is sitting at fifty-books and boy can I tell you I am sure glad I am out of ideas. Every day I lament over my former self’s cruelty towards me, but alas, I must finish this. Pros: I have greatly increased my writing speed. Cons: This is going to take a…[Read more]
