@nova21 (I read Oliver Twist three times in one year in two languages I highly recommend)

@joy-caroline Aw thanks sister. I’m glad to hear you’re pursuing your dreams. At this point I’ve long accepted it though and it’s too late to change anyway and I’m sure I’ll grow to like it, so it’s fine. Thanks for your words, though!

@joy-caroline Ever since I switched computers I haven’t been able to use Word because it’s not free anymore but now I use WPS office! Works almost as nicely, though the hyphens I haven’t been able to figure out how to convert into dashes.

@r-m-archer I don’t world-build often, so I’m afraid I can’t be of much help…but I’d love to see what you guys come up with!

Lin replied to the topic Brandon Sanderson Books??? in the forum Book Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
@nova21 I have not read any of Brandon Sanderson’s books…but I can give you random recommendations! I highly recommend Bryan Davis’s Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire series. Some of my favorite fantasy series. Christian, too.

@r-m-archer This is awesome! I’m going to spend some time thinking about this — I do have experience with everything you mentioned except maybe language, but I’m certainly not a master at developing the things you mentioned. I do give a lot of attention to the cuisine and fashion in my novel so if I can figure out a good way to write out my…[Read more]

@ugroza Collin would rather never say anything remotely funny.
Would your character rather always call everyone by their first name or last name?

Lin replied to the topic Need Some Advice in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
@joy-caroline Ah they’re lyrics from a song called “The Moon and Sixpence” by a Christian band called Falling Up! They’re my favorite band and quite underrated; most of their songs aren’t explicitly Christian but have a lot of metaphors and stories within, which is one of the reasons why I like them so much.

@joy-caroline You should go with the new thing! I don’t think it’s an excuse to not work on your novel; it’s a break, a refresher. They say to work on two projects so that you can always procrastinate on the other one. (And you’re looking at someone who likes to juggle in between 4 or 5 projects at a time…)
You should definitely go for it!…[Read more]

@nova21 Aven would choose isolation.
Would your character rather have to share their drinks with their siblings for the rest of their lives or always have random people steal bits of his food?

Lin replied to the topic Would You Rather Character Edition in the forum Characters 5 years, 3 months ago
@nova21 Brian would rather have ten dogs.
Nice pfp, by the way!
Would your character rather be a student or a teacher?

@seekjustice Hiii!! Thank you! How have you been?
@alia Thank you!! I like your profile picture — how long have you been playing? I picked up the violin almost exactly a year ago. 🙂
@ugroza Greetings! I definitely want to publish my WIP someday, although I probably won’t pursue publication until I’ve written the entire series just because I’m…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Ahaha thanks for your two cents. I would say that it would partially be because of myself and my expectations for myself (I had pretty much decided that this was gonna be the job route that I was gonna take since I was twelve or thirteen, before I started writing) and partially the environment I was raised in (practicality and…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What is a popular book that you dislike? Why do you dislike it? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 3 months ago
Everyone has already said my absolute least favourite book, Pride and Prejudice, so I’ll mention another very popular book I really, really hated. I could not bear Oliver Twist, it was awful, it was boring, it was convoluted, Oliver wasn’t even a person, more of a plot point. This was highly disappointing because I love Dickens (h…[Read more]

Hello! How are you? I’m the resident Australian weird person.
What sort of things do you like writing? What about reading? What are a few of your recent favourite reads? My recent favourites were The Night Circus, and Frankenstein.Â

Oh…well…if we’re all pouring out some emotions here…
Sometimes I grow really sad when I think about my future, and how I’m not going to become a full-time author. It doesn’t support, yeah, yeah…
Because recently I’ve discovered how much I love writing. And when you apply for colleges they tell you to do what you love, but honestly, for…[Read more]
