SeekJustice replied to the topic In Search of Book Recommendations in the forum Book Discussions 3 years, 5 months ago
@lewilliams hello there! I haven’t heard from you since the Intern days 🙂
*Rubs hands together* I’ve got plenty of recs for you.
First of all, I recommend a good reread. Whenever I get in a reading slump, I do a reread of some of my favourites. I just finished a Narnia reread and I’m currently doing a LOTR reread (in which I also hope to read…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Writing and Jobs in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 5 months ago
@relia I’d choose to have another job as well, either as a dog trainer or a speech pathologist. I love writing, but it could never be more of a side job for me. I’m a hands on person and I would need to be out in the world in order to actually write good things.

That is so incredibly cute! And I think we need a sequel to that short story about the janitor 😛
Occasionally little things I’ve experienced make it into stories of mine, but one thing that happened actually made it into the work I am possibly most proud of, a short story I wrote a few years back. Essentially, my family had lunch…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic A question for any Brits/people-who-know-about-this here… in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 5 months ago
@relia I’m not British, so if there’s any Britishers on here, please feel free to tell me I’m an idiot.
Anyway, I’m Australian and we tend to swear a lot and very similarly to British people, for obvious reasons. “Bl**dy” (censoring because I don’t know everyone on here’s personal views on certain words), h**l and d*mn are all pretty “low level”…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Keep going or jump ahead? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 5 months ago
I usually force myself to keep going through the scene. Usually all it needs is a few hundred more words and then I’m writing freely again. Having said that, in one of my last WIPs I got really stuck at a large portion and completely skipped four or five chapters and just kept going. It depends on what works for you really.…[Read more]

Hello! I’m having an absolutely horrible day and just seeing your little username pop up in my emails has made it a little better.
I’m doing…well, ok, but I’ve definitely been better. However, my job is going really well, abd I’ve just been offered a permanent position which is absolutely amazing! My dogs are good! Unfortunately a…[Read more]

Oooh, Canada looks so beautiful! I really want to visit Canada and Alaska, and the Artic circle. Unfortunately there’s that virus that shall not be named.
Are you close to the ocean?
Hmm, kind of?? Most Australians live on the coast, but I’m a little bit more inland and I hardly ever visit the ocean, so I don’t think of myself as living…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Not sure if I should add an idea to my book in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 3 years, 5 months ago
@morgan Since it’s your book and I haven’t read it, I can’t really say whether it will “ruin” your book, however I think if you want to do it, go for it! Ultimately, whenever I have to make a decision about my story, I decide with my gut/heart. Do you want this? Will it make you love your story more? If yes, do it! And by the way, I think that s…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic Hallo! *waves* in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 5 months ago
@faith-q Hello Faith! I’m one of the KP interns and I write mainly historical and fantasy!
That’s awesome that you’re learning ASL! I’m studying Auslan (which is Australian Sign language) at the moment in the hope of becoming an interpreter!
Also, that’s a lot of siblings! I only have four and that’s more than almost anyone else I know 😛

@sami-eastwood Hello! My name is Chelsea/SeekJustice, and I’m a very tired writer from New South Wales (which is in Australia, not Wales, confusingly). What sort of stuff do you write? Personally, I mainly write historical fantasy, with a little straight historical, and a little straight fantasy here and there. but historical fantasy is my sweet…[Read more]

I like you already! I also talk like Gollum on a regular basis, and I probably should have a psych evaluation. 😛
May I ask where in the world you come from? Be as vague as you like. I’m from New South Wales, which isn’t in Wales unfortunately, and is actually in Australia. I would love to learn Welsh one day though.
What sort of books…[Read more]

Haha, I’m not an American so I have absolutely no idea what the original 13 states are lol 😛
Oh, those are some great books! C.S. Lewis is a particular favourite of mine 🙂

@morgan Hello! I’m Chelsea, one of the interns at KP, and we’re so happy to see you! If you don’t mind me asking, whereabouts are you from? (be as vague as you like!) I’m from somewhere in outback Australia. And do you have any favourite books or authors?

@kathleenramm That’s hilarious!
Well, I couldn’t decide between my current WIP and my last WIP so I decided to do them both.
My current WIP:
1. Mere, the POV protagonist and a rather fiery girl who won’t take no for an answer, but in reality is deeply insecure.
2. Gabe, her brother and a renowned botanist about to embark on a voyage of…[Read more]

@milena Hi there! Lovely to have you here! KP is such an awesome place where we just get to hang out with other God-focused authors and chat about random stuff, and it’s so much fun!
Hmm…let’s see…Some questions! Where in the world are you from? (Feel free to be as vague as you like!) And do you have any pets? Or if you don’t, would you like some?

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic What is your least favorite type of hero? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 6 months ago
I think I know what you mean, @gracie-j. Good heroines are hard to find. Elizabeth Bennet is definitely one of the rare exceptions. She’s brilliantly written, and we’re the same personality type (ENTP), so it’s hard not to like her. We think too much alike. 😉
My sister is an INTJ and she likes Darcy for the same reasons. We enjoy debating and…[Read more]

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic What is your least favorite type of hero? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 6 months ago
I think my least favorite type of hero is the chosen one. It’s pretty overdone, and at times so cliche. I don’t hate it, though.
Also, the Mary Sue hero, because it’s just really hard to relate to and like a hero that is overpowered through basically no effort of their own, always gets stronger right when they need to, and never seems to actually…[Read more]

Hopefully I can be of some help! I’m by no means an old writer (though I occasionally feel old amongst all the young teenagers on here 😛 ), but I feel like I have some experience with this topic.
When I was a really young teen (13/14/15, even all the way up to 17) I tackled some pretty heavy topics in my writing and I really did…[Read more]
