Found family trope. Definitely. I have, like, three stories with that theme (but in one of them, the character that finds his father is actually a minor character, and ends up dying in the end, sacrificing his own life to save the family he found….I know, sad). Like @joy-caroline said, it’s probably influenced by how that is really our lives as…[Read more]

@power Heya! Welcome to the Kingdom!
Wow, your hobbies all sound quite interesting! As well as your projects! And you answered my question about pineapples and pizza before I could ask it. What are you, psychic?
Anyways, hope you find some encouragement here to start writing your books, because they sound absolutely epic!

@elfwing Like I said, lizards (and regular lizards—not dragons). But I don’t see a lot of regular birds, like puffins or flamingos or emus. Those would be cool.

I love lizards, so….Those might be too close to dragons though. I love creating half man, half animal species for my stories…..like centaurs with the bodies of dinosaurs instead of horses

I have so many stories I can’t even remember the last time I wrote in some of them.
But that wasn’t your point, right? I usually have only a few different perspectives in my stories, but you can have as many as you want! I’d just warn you that you probably should keep the number of PoVs low, and make it clear whose perspective you’re in, so your…[Read more]

@hallie-jean Ah, it’s been a long time since I’ve read Percy Jackson… It is by that new Riordan press, though, right? The one with all the mythology YA retellings?
To be honest, if I were to redo mythology, I’d do Chinese mythology, because that’s my personal favorite, heh.

@hallie-jean Ah, no, actually! That sounds very fun, though! XD

@elfwing Mm yes ducks would make such cute spies. My guards would definitely let down their guard for them. If I had guards.
And yes, eat the chickens. Better than eating the horse, heheh.
And geese are absolutely terrifying they would definitely make very good watchdogs. Or turkeys. Forget peacocks turkeys would do more than just be decoration.

@elfwing How about…chickens? There seems to be an underwhelming amount of chickens in fantasy except in cooking.
And ducks. And geese.

These are incredible! Have you thought about published some poems on the KP blog? I did it once, with the poem The Journal.  You should totally do it!!
Also, welcome to KP! Feel free to join any topics that you want. Do you only write poetry or do you write fiction/nonfiction too?

Ugh, I totally get what you’re talking about! Sometimes daydream about my other books while writing a blah one, and I’m like “why am I even writing this??”
So I’d say go for it.  If you got problems, face ’em head-on. That way, you’ll be able to get over the problem more quickly. And as for your idea, I’m loving it!!! I’m per…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Secret identities —- your works sound lowkey like Durarara!, which has quite a bit of that around the climax.
Hmm…for me I find myself pulling more light novel tropes, usually, such as getting hit by a truck, white curtains blowing in a classroom, fireworks festivals, etc…. I watch too much anime…
Um…I use “the quest” a…[Read more]

@joy-caroline That sounds awesome! I’m all for parallels! Sounds like it would be hard to pull off but if you could do it, that’d be really good!

Undoubtedly, most definitely, undeniably dark and brooding love interests… 😐
They’re just so amazing, you know? And even if he isn’t the love interest, he’s probably gonna be a side character.
Also, hate-to-love romances are pretty amazing.
So ya, to some it up, romance tropes are most common in my WIPs… hehe!

@elfwing Star Wars, Tron, Marvel, the Warriors and Wings of Fire book series….and more I don’t remember. Often I combine two different fandoms.

@elfwing I’ve done war stories too, sometimes. But on fanfictions, I actually find them easier than regular stories because I have readymade characters, and if I want to add more I have “templates.”
