Elishavet Elroi replied to the topic What’s an unexpected place you got a story idea from? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
Ugh, I can’t remember…, but I have had many ideas from listening to music, especially worship/altar. For example, the soloist sings something like: “You didn’t think you’d make it through the night,/ It’s a wonder you survived,/ but you’re still here…” And a sunrise-on-the-battlefield scene pops into my head. Also I have a habit of listening…[Read more]

Yes, and it sounds so good. Will you have a glossary?

*note: to clarify my ambiguous “letter”. I meant ×› and ×—. Both make a throaty sound.

Thanks! It’ll be interesting to watch play out.
Also, about your culture, Horse and His Boy was always a favorite in our house. I can hardly run across hot pavement without thinking about Tashbaan. I love that you’re including the oud, which I only discovered the other day. About the veils, I know very little except what one might find in early…[Read more]

Oh, I love building cultures and hearing what other people have made!
Let’s see… I don’t know the ú sound, it might be Hebrew (I’m not very far in).
Keivan Rus is basically the name of a federation of Slavs in the 9th to the mid 13th century. The part I mixed in is mostly from the older northern groups. They were a…[Read more]

Ok, I’m sorry I have taken so long to reply. My favorite genres to read are most likely (medieval) fantasy, or theology/doctrine. I also love a good historical fiction!
All four of my books are differing types of fantasy, between medieval and animals (if that’s a type). My other project is kid’s church curriculum.
What are yours?

Ok, so now I can’t contain myself. @trahia-the-minstrel, did you say your desert country is Hebrew influenced? (Note gleeful chewing of lip) I’m learning Hebrew. Also, Eirtan is a mix of Celtic, Norse, Kieven Rus and mid-east/isreali culture, so I’m a tad unduly excited. (By the by, that particular letter you mentioned is my personal…[Read more]

At least he dies late in the book? Or perhaps that makes it worse. Yes, he will be missed, but Viktor needs to be who he was made to be, and Ruben wouldn’t want to go any other way.
@lydia-s I know this is random, but I didn’t realize you had read the Green Ember etc. What is your favorite character/lines? We love Helmer and Jo Shanks.…[Read more]

Small fuzzy things in general, with cats, foxes and squirrels at the top. I have a hard time deciding.

Hi there! (I’m sorry I didn’t greet you earlier.)
I’m a homeschooler and book worm, and I probably talk out of turn a bit too much. I create all my worlds with no gun powder.
Question: What’s your favorite animal(s)?
Anyway, greetings and salutations! (And I totally agree, Fall is beautiful)

@trahia-the-mintrel
Thanks! I hope it turns out well. Your story sounds fascinating too.
Siblings: just have to love them for it.

It is traumatic. I was telling my brother about my book and about Rubin, when suddenly I stopped and just said “oh no.”
He started laughing.
Since then it has been a battle of ‘why’. If his death wasn’t a pivital point in my story, he would have a good chance of surviving. As it is, I already have a song for his funeral.

Aye, (oh dear, this is what happens when I start thinking medievally) I understand about the username thing. We are all varying degrees of our pen names. Truly, someone else on here can’t really be a dark-furred, fluffy snake-eating creature. It’s the thought behind it all …
About being a twin, let’s see. First of all, there are different…[Read more]

Hi there, @trahia-the-minstrel, it’s very nice to meet you!
That is so funny, what is your tale about, and how is lertan pronounced? Here’s a bit more on Eirtan:Â [eeir tahn(r is flapped with EIr said farther back in the mouth)]a country, the head in the two brother-nations of Eirtan and Yartas, main enemy? Dorwin.
I would be glad to help, if I…[Read more]

@anatra23Â I’m not sure, it’s little like Green Ember with humans, or the Ranger’ Apprentice but cleaner, or Wingfeather with no “magic”: is that fantasy? As for the thought out part, I’m writing my first draft, and although I have only the prologue and part of the first chapter, I have made up scenes all throughout the book. That’s how I make up…[Read more]

Oh, these are great! What good idea.
@godlyfantasy12 I completely understand, most of my best characters don’t have a single word written yet.
From Ruben
“Welcome home, brother. I know it’s not pretty, and you have no idea who I am, but welcome all the same.”
“I’m glad I’m not you. I mean, sometimes I don’t want to be me either, but at least…[Read more]
