I love ducks!!! they’re good pets and would make very innocent looking spies, and also information carriers if you trained them…
Chickens!!! yessss. They’d make good traveling companions!

Elfwing replied to the topic Adding another perspective to my book? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 9 months ago
wow I would say YES but I really like adding a traumatized person to my stories and then tying in their story with the plot!
I would say as long as you make sure to keep it tied into the plot, do it. Like maybe they just miss each other or something…
anyways yes!

yesss! That’s great! 😂 love it!
Good point… I like zebras too! That’s a good idea! 😃

So I was just thinking about critters in fantasy. You know, dragons, eagles, orcs, etc. I get bored of them sometimes. (not Smaug; Smaug’s sense of humor and sarcasm will never grow old XD)
I know it’s fun to make up animals but at the same time, I like my earth critters.
I thought it would be fun to brainstorm real animals that don’t usually…[Read more]

Elfwing replied to the topic What trope is most common in your stories? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 9 months ago
mine is so secret identity!!! I have at least two people in each book of my series; sometimes the same and sometimes new ones. Not intentionally
i love the chances for discovery and adding layers
“well… we’re like onions.”
“So… they smell?”
“Yes— no! We have layers! Onions have layers!
“Well cake has layers!

cool cool! I haven’t seen many Star Wars, and only two Marvel, and the last ones listed I have never heard of… they sound cool! that’s a fun idea, combining two fandoms! 🙂

don’t get me wrong, I think it’s really cool you do those!

Elfwing replied to the topic Character Arc chat in the forum Characters 4 years, 9 months ago
Ahh ok. that sounds fun! what movies/books have you done fan fics on?
You know… the ready-made part is probably what makes it hard for me; I love making new things, and trying to replicate artistic works (except accents and voices) really doesn’t work for me, be it characters or drawings and paintings.

sounds cool! Good for you! I have never succeeded at fan fics, but everyone is different and I appreciate writers who can take a character and make their own fan fic and it turn out really cool. From what you’ve described here and other topics, I’d say you must have lots of fun doing them! Keep it up! 🙂
I must admit… I love doing…[Read more]

thank you!
i do like those kinds of characters as well. After all, no one is perfect.
In this case it’s the villain’s fiancé/soon-to-be wife who defends him and yet criticize him. She loves him fiercely and the two are rather a funny pair, but it works XD. She’s got a quick temper and trust issues but once you have her trust,…[Read more]

I have unwittingly written many XD. I admit I automatically do that with characters. Maybe too much. I have two favorites.
The main antagonist, who I mentioned in the topic of the week, is the one I’m currently doing. I debating a few endings… but I decided on a positive character arc instead of him staying locked up in the far…[Read more]

Elfwing replied to the topic Questions on drafts and beginnings… in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 9 months ago
I do the same as @daisy-torres. Although, I do keep my first draft in a separate doc in case I reread later and don’t like my 2nd draft. I like to end a chapter mysteriously as possible and pick up on a different POV if there’s more than one. I like stories where the chapter ends in one charrie’s POV, and starts in a different one;…[Read more]

Alrighty! So abt the draft thing: I have basically the ideas of Jodi Maile, so thank you for putting this into words.
So for book beginnings, I have opinions very similar to Ted Decker’s. To begin a book, it depends on the writers style and choice of course, but I’m just throwing options and things I typically use. Jumping into the…[Read more]

Well….. I am pretty basic with fonts… but as said by @writerlexi1216 changing fonts is like magic!!! It has helped me get past writer’s block, too.
@nova21 I wonder if it’s because it’s easy to do and something simple to control. It usually doesn’t take a lot of brainpower like story plotting does.
For all my books: Arial for…[Read more]
