@booksbyjayna Ooh, this is fun.
I will say that most of the music I’m listening to while writing is soundtracks from other movies… I got inspired for a whole fanfic that way which had nothing to do with the story the song’s supposed to be for……

I will definitely be praying for you! Moving can be hard. Just remember God is with you wherever you’re at, and he’s a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Hey girl I’m sorry I know that’s hard! I lived in Seattle for all my life until I was about 9, and we loved it. After we moved I always thought I would move back as an adult, but after living here for good bit It feels like home somehow. I know it’s really hard picking up and being in a new place with new people, but we’re still here! We’re…[Read more]

Hi @ancello!
Here are some of my favorite series….
- Viking Quest by Lois W. Johnson. This one is about a brother and sister who get captured by Vikings and convert them to Christianity eventually. They’re great!
- Redwall by Brian Jacques (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE) Pure simple awesomeness. Nuff said. Read it and then tag me with your thoughts if…

I am totally going to read your book, it sounds amazing! Just one question, what reading level is it? Amanda Dykes… She sounds familiar but I don’t think I have read anything by her yet 🙂

To be honest, reading in your genre is one of the first “rules” of good writing, partly so you’ll understand what readers expect and partly so you’ll know what’s out there (major themes, tropes, etc.) and avoid repetition. So yeah, you might want to start there.
Yep… I know… I just really need to do it. 🤣 (And I’ve read in like ev…[Read more]

I know nothing about dystopia, and it looks like you’re getting some good answers already. But one thing I would suggest regarding Len’s title is to take a look at other books in your genre and see what the standard practice seems to be. If fans of dystopia are used to this type of character having a title, they’ll probably expec…

Ok guys. My villain needs some help. Or rather, I, as his author, need some help. I need to decide on his evil title and part of his motivation.
First, some background on him: (Warning: There are a few spoilers. Read at your own risk.) (Another Warning: I do mention murder a few times.)
Derek Len desired peace. It was all he wanted. All he…[Read more]

It looks like Dreamhost is significantly cheaper than Bluehost for the same or better benefits, so I plan to go that route. Another thing to keep in mind (something a family member pointed out to me) is that software and other online products often go on sale for Cyber Monday, so that may be a good time to purchase things like the…

Are you a plotter, a pantser, or a tweener?
I think I’m between plotter and pantser. For all the main stories that I’ve actually made any progress on, I’ve started with a loose outline and intention to write and then begun to flesh out the MC/MCs and worked from there.

Hello! It’s nice to officially meet you 🙂
Honestly, I was kidding about the dystopia part. I was just surprised because the first three people who talked to me were dystopian writers. But historical fiction is AMAZING! I’m glad you’ve found your niche 🙂 I hope you have fun with the contemporary fiction stuff, too.
