Yep! I don’t think it’s unrealistic that scientists would try to launch something into space to collect energy, although I don’t really know how sunlight and energy works out there. @thearcaneaxiom might have some better suggestions. (Sorry if you’ve already been on this topic, I don’t remember.) -

Yes, but we’re basically writing our own planets for now. I don’t really even know too much about what she’s doing XD. I think it would be cool to write some stories on each other’s worlds, but at least for me, most of my worlds need to be developed further before they would be ready for her to come and write something in.
Okay, yeah! C…[Read more]

This is a new topic for my Celestiar series set on Ildin. I don’t know how many books this will be, because I’ve only been working on the first one. Again, as with the Adonial Saga, “the Ildin Saga” is a working name, but not the final one.
I’m switching my attention from the Adonial Saga to this one. I have a couple reasons why. First of all,…[Read more]

So start making a bunch of words for basic concrete concepts, then bonus points if you can ground those concepts in what is important to the locals where the language originated. After that, combine these concepts in all sorts of ways, again in the manner that would be important to the locals. Then you can add a hint of chaos,…

Looking back, I only found two occurrences of ‘Th’ and both were unvoiced. I’m not sure if that’s a coincidence or a rule of the linguistics that I just noticed. I’ll have to look at my list of names and see if there are any voiced ‘th’s.

Also, maybe consider having a different number system, or base? You don’t have to, this is a simple prejudice of mine. I just find base 10 boring. Unless their is a unique reason for it.
And don’t worry, I most definitely will have planets with different number systems! I really like number symbolism, so I’ll be playing aroun…[Read more]

So you’ve already got a lot of words down, so that’s really cool! Quick question, how is ‘Th’ meant to be pronounced? Is it voiced, like ‘that’ or unvoiced, like ‘math’?
I’d have to look back over all my words so far, but I know that the name ‘Thulac” has it unvoiced. I’m guessing it varies depending on the word, like in English.

True. It’s hard to try to argue about the accuracy of the Bible with someone, because most likely neither of you have the time or knowledge to look into translational things and stuff like that.

Cloaked Mystery replied to the topic Apologetics in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 2 years, 2 months ago
Right, and many simply discredit the “I Am” because John is regarded as the least reliable book, but there’s many indirect claims to His divinity throughout the other books. Like others calling Him God, and He doesn’t contradict them, and even commends them.
The problem is that for people who don’t consider the Bible entirely…[Read more]

I do find Lewis’s Trilemma to be logically convincing though (many just say that Christ didn’t claim to be the Son of God in response though, so it becomes a historical problem).
It bothers me so much that people say that, because if you understand the culture and tradition of the time and the language being used, it becomes obv…[Read more]

The flaw I see in that argument is the second premise. You have to accept some sort of multiverse theory where every possibility exists in some reality. Furthermore, if the definition of “all powerful” includes being able to influence all realities, then would said being not be preeminent over all real…[Read more]

Yeah, that could definitely have some unique impacts. That being said, I feel like changing the mass kind of defeats the idea of the mass shifting. It definitely could be a related ability, but perhaps those would could use the two powers in tandem would be a more rare bunch.

I need to get more into Brandon Sanderson… I’ve read The Rithmatist and the Reckoners series, but nothing else. My brother and dad are really into Mistborn and Stormlight, though. My problem with reading epic fantasy is when I start, I can’t stop, and my sleep schedule becomes thoroughly messed up. Last time I read an epic…[Read more]

That’s fair! I think the system has potential, though I do think it needs more of a mechanic to it. A version of telekinesis is cool, but what really sets it apart from normal telekinetic power? There’s the restriction to only cinders, and there’s some specific rules, but I think there could be more of a unique mechanic overa…

I think that is awesome! I don’t have any theological problems with that. I tend to avoid doing robots and stuff, because I don’t believe that such a creation would have a soul, and I would usually rather avoid writing about those topics. I haven’t thought about how that would extend to a human created in a lab. There’s nothing biological about a…[Read more]

I don’t like to play with sentient and rational robots, honestly those creep me out. The idea of Alpha being originally a a robot made out of flesh came from me just thinking about him. I haven’t thought about it in depth, but from first glance, I don’t have a problem with it either. I guess it would depend also on how he was created. Did they take human DNA to create him? If that’s the case, then I think he would have a soul just like any other person, because the rest of us are created with human DNA, even though the process of…[Read more]
He was made from mixed DNA, to give him the traits Grathmere wanted. I believe most likely, he was made the weird 3D printer way at first, and developed from there.
He was actually interestingly enough, not made to have any moral compass. He was supposed to be a heartless assassin that did what Grathmere wished. He’d have limited free will, but…[Read more]

I like the idea! I think it makes sense that he would be without breath at first, and I think that God could definitely give him a soul if He chose
Ooh, ok. So I see where your doubts are coming from. Here’s my opinion…
I believe that as soon as a baby is conceived in the womb, he (referring to either gender in this case) is a human being with a soul that is loved by God. Obviously he cannot physically breathe yet because he’s only a few cells. But when he is born, God is ultimately the O…[Read more]

I think this is a fun idea. I don’t think there’s any theological problems. Is this your fantasy, or something else? If the first, then I wouldn’t think theological and scientific problems should be your primary concern, because what you say goes. Even if your more into hard worldbuilding, you can build up a distinct theological system that is…[Read more]
@thearcaneaxiom Yeah, this is in my sci-fi/fantasy Galaxy. Alpha is one of my main charries.
I don’t think this is too weird an idea for a sci-fi universe. It’s basically like God put literal, actual life in a body which was built, not born. Like a machine built out of flesh and bone, it was working, but it wasn’t alive quite yet. I think the way he explains it is a little strange, but that’s an explanation and can be modified a bit.
My only issue is that if his heart was going but not his breathing, he would die pretty quickly, so maybe he was effectively “dead” with neither organ working, and when they tried to “jump-start” him, his heart started but not his lungs, and then when they were confusedly trying to figure it out he started breathing.
That was a weird explanation, sorry….
It makes sense…in fact that was the way I pictured it in my mind, just Alpha sometimes says things weirdly, and leaves out parts.
I believe the term for during but still coming back to life by revival is called “clinically dead”. Not sure if Alpha falls under this or not, though…
Ok, good, it made sense…lol
