Michael turns red and glances at Briana.
“You have a lot of awkward moments,” she says.
“I know,” says her poor brother.
. . .
“Um . . .”
“I know,” says Chris. “Can I say?”
(Hope this is legal)
“That time when you tried to attack the guy who was…[Read more]

Hey there! Haven’t talked to you in a while 😊
I honestly stopped it because the romance was getting uncomfortable and there were several inappropriate scenes/comments.
I noticed that a lot of people on the library website commented about that. I only read the first three books, so I didn’t get into that a lot.
Aside from that, I didn’t l…

Oh, okay!
Ach, poor Michael. *rubs hands together*
Michael cautiously sits down in the circle, next to Briana (his sister).
“Um–”
“Say dare,” Chris says, smirking.
“Say truth, it’s not as bad,” says Briana.
“Um–”
“And don’t take all day,” Kaine says.
The others smile behind their hands.
“Um–”
“Um–”
“Truth?”…[Read more]

Nice story! I love the Little House feel.
I guess one thing I would say: when the Grants arrive, it seems like Pa automatically assumes they’re new to pioneer land. Maybe you could say he sees that their wagon is full of furniture and other belongings, or say something else so it’s obvious they’re new? Do what you want though!
I’m…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 @everyone else
So . . . I take it we give each others’ charries the truths and dares?
Are we taking turns in any special order?
Sorry I’m a bit confused, I’ve never done anything like this before 😊

I made a moodboard for Christopher and Briana, I just need to figure out how to post it. I can’t seem to copy and paste the entire thing. How do you do it? (It’s in a google doc)

K, I’m finally here!
I’m going to use four charries for now: Christopher (call him Chris, his name takes too long to type!), Briana, Michael, and Elena.
I’m going to make Chris and Briana be engaged at this point, since…[Read more]

It’s cool you want to write an autobiography!
I don’t mean to discourage you from doing what you want to, but it might be better to wait till you’re older and have more to write about. Unless, of course, you have a story that you want to share about what’s happened to you already.
Another thing you could try is writing a story with…[Read more]

Hey there, Caitlyn! I’m Erica.
I love science too! What area of science do you like best? I love marine biology.
So . . . questions!
1. What’s the coldest weather you’ve ever experienced? (Seems to be a popular topic around here lol)
2. Is black coffee good? 😁
3. When did you start writings?
4. Who is your favorite…[Read more]

He’s fun. Currently, he’s trying to get me to play piano for church!! But I’ve got stage fright 😅😨. Maybe I will sometime.
OH, you should!! I play for youth group . . . I was so scared at first, but now it’s just normal. You get used to it!
Ok, we had an arctic front come in, so the wind chill is literally -26 here.…

Great job! I love your characters!!
Ah, yes, put the whole bottle of hot sauce in.
That reminds me of (sorry, @arien) when my sister put a whole can of chipotle peppers into soup instead of one single pepper . . . I ate it anyway. My dad actually enjoyed it . . . lol
But as to critiques?
I personally feel Asher and Iris a…[Read more]

(Nice to meet you! I’m Erica!)
It’s definitely more in the YA realm of intensity rather than middle grade, though the bright covers can be a bit misleading.
Yes, I would definitely classify KOTLC as YA. I haven’t read many YA books at all, so maybe that’s why I’m more sensitive?
As for the intensity I personally felt t…

@whalekeeper @others
I agree that the ‘breaking the rules’ trope is typical for the magical schools. I think it depends on the context. Honestly, I think it’s perfectly fine to read books with that stuff in it, unless you’re easily influenced by the characters’ actions. I don’t think it’s the best trope ever, and there are definitely better ways t…

Kids breaking rules is basically standard in all books where kids go to fantasy schools.
I think that’s @arien ‘s point. Just because it’s super common doesn’t make it right.
That just doesn’t seem right to me. The breaking rules and getting away with it was a big problem for my parents, which is why I wasn’t allowed to read Har…

We have snow . . . 16 inches of it at least . . . and a lot more coming . . .
We’re having a blizzard right now!!
Where we live (Ohio) we typically get snow in November, barely any in December, then more in January and February. We’ve actually had snow on Easter before!! 😄

So this past year @arien and I started reading the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. We got three-four books in before deciding to stop reading.
So I’m wondering what you guys think about the books.
Personally, I felt they were very intense, with all the mind control and brokenness, etc. At first I thought Sophie’s mind-reading powers were just…[Read more]
