Lin replied to the topic Anyone Else have Book Playlists? 😉 in the forum Music 4 years ago
@freedomwriter76 I make playlists occasionally for short stories if I’m feeling bored, or just add songs I think fit with a novel to a playlist to eventually sort out, heh. I think they’re somewhere on Spotify? I’d share if anyone wants t see em.

Ooo… Good question!
One thought I had while reading your post is where did your character get his wisdom from?
- Is he speaking from experience? If so, how have his experiences shaped his personality? Have they scarred him physically or emotionally?
- Is he passing on advice he’s heard elsewhere? If so, has he himself found the…

Kathleen replied to the topic What happened to KP Critiques? in the forum Questions and Support 4 years ago
Hey Sam!
Yeah, KP Critiques has been put on hold. Mainly because, to put it blatantly, my sister was the one doing critiques but she moved on to other things, so we currently don’t have anyone able to critique work at the moment.
Though I do know that some people here on the forum who like to critique each others’ stories so…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic What do you love most about your current WIP? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years ago
@kathleenramm Honestly I really like how well everything’s tying together for it (plot, themes, character, worldbuilding, backstory, etc etc). Probably my most structured novel yet? I’m enjoying the single POV and small cast of characters, a nice change of pace from my usual big casts, as well as structuring internal and external conflict to all…[Read more]

What do you love most about your current WIP? (Setting, plot, theme, characters, a particular scene, the backstory, etc.)
My 3 siblings and I have written, scrapped, and rewritten outlines for our current WIP countless times to the point where we’ve decided to pants the novel and just focus on the characters.
I think that was the best decision…[Read more]

Jodi Maile replied to the topic How to make a side character more interesting? in the forum Characters 4 years ago
@joy-caroline I think something to consider is what theme you’d like this character to represent, and then working with that. So if your themes are love and faith, maybe finding a way for this character to struggle with one of those things. An estranged family member they have to reconcile with, and demonstrate love? A health crisis they have to…[Read more]

Welp, I’m late. *facepalm*
Honestly, I don’t have any experience in this area, so I don’t think I can help, I’m sorry. 🙁 I hope you find the info you’re looking for, though! Wishing you the best with this project. 🙂 <333

I’m doing well, too! School has ended for the year, so that’s nice. 🙂
I haven’t been doing a lot of sit-down-and-focus writing lately, but I’ve been brain-dumping scenes from a series in my spare moments. Hopefully, someday, I can get around to writing it. As for reading, I mainly read for school now, unfortunately, but I enjoyed…[Read more]

Arabella
Her blood ran cold. This…Vulture, had brought a feeling of dread and terror to the group. Vulkasin and Zlatan looked…angry and even lost. As if reminded of something long past.
Or perhaps not even that long ago…
Either way, she didn’t like the way their fists were clenched and their jaws set at this Ocran’s…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic Do you prefer simple or complex storylines? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 1 month ago
@kathleenramm Complex. The more complex the possible. I don’t want to know what’s gonna happen. At least when reading.
Writing…hhh I want to get good at complex storylines.

Do you prefer simple or complex storylines?
I honestly love both. I have favorite stories that are incredibly complex and other favorites that are super simple.Though when it comes to writing, I definitely prefer simple storylines. I could say the reason is because of the commonly preached principle of doing a few things really well rather than…[Read more]
