Sami Eastwood replied to the topic What do you do when you hit a roadblock in your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 5 months ago
Mostly I find when I’ve hit a roadblock it means I’m too much in my own head. So I read other stories or watch a movie. Basically, the reason I’m blocked is because the creative tank is empty, and I get my best inspiration from other creative works. Movies and other visual entertainment work best for me because I write as though my…[Read more]

Sami Eastwood replied to the topic What's your favorite type of villain? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 5 months ago
There are a lot of great villains out there. I am partial to the intelligent-but-increasingly-psychotic villain. The slow slip to insanity is where a lot of interesting things can happen to a person especially when they’re brilliant and mostly self-aware. I think I like it because it can happen, you know? Ordinary people can just…[Read more]

Sami Eastwood replied to the topic What's the weirdest story you've ever written? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 5 months ago
The weirdest story I ever wrote was for a fiction writing class in school. It was about a woman who was taken into an archive filled with mythological items. And not just like “Oh look it’s Thor’s hammer” it was also things like Amelia Earhart’s plane and the body of the Headless Horseman. It was so weird, but it was also incredibly…[Read more]

Sami Eastwood replied to the topic non-typical critters for stories in the forum Fantasy 3 years, 5 months ago
I don’t know if you’ve read these already but CJ Darlington wrote a series of stories starting with Jupiter Winds and the main character owns a farm of Zebras! I think you’d like it.
As far as missing critters in fantasy I would have to say I don’t see a lot of goats. I guess they’re not the most exciting animal but when…[Read more]

@abigail-m Hi Abigail,
No worries about the late welcome, as I’m offering you an equally late reply. I have never heard of Reedsy but thank you for introducing me I’ll definitely check it out. My favorite setting to write in, assuming you’re talking about the physical author me is anywhere where I can see the outside view–preferably of nature. I…[Read more]

Ah, the third drafts. Don’t you just get to the point where it’s either “I have read this book so many times I know it word for word” or “Who wrote that? Not me.” I definitely do.
My top three favorite authors have to be Stacey Lee, C.S. Lewis, and Neil Gaiman (though he can fall in and out of favor with me depending on his…[Read more]

@lewilliams Hey Elizabeth, fistbump right back at you!
When you aren’t writing, what kind of things do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not writing, I like reading (when I have the focus for it) or hanging out with my sister. I like doing active things either with a friend or alone. Most of my best thinking is done away from the computer, then l…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Hi JC!
I would mostly describe myself as a Fiction Writer but I love focusing on Christian themes like forgiveness and mercy. I haven’t written that much so it’s hard to say what I’m “good” at but so far my ideas are a bit all over the place.

@kathleenramm So great to meet you too!
My favorite thing about writing is that it’s an adventure for me as much as it is for my characters. I got really good at daydreaming when I was a kid and now I just put all of that into my writing, so it’s like I get to hold onto it forever, and hopefully other people will enjoy it too.

@devastate-lasting I’d love to answer your questions!
My current WIP is about a girl who falls into a coma after a bad accident and wakes up in the Unconscious Place. The place where people go when they’re…unconscious. It’s about her adventure to escape the Unconscious Place and wake up. (not a great cover copy, but you get the gist lol)

Hi Chelsea it’s nice to meet you! I’ve mostly been focused on fantasy at the moment but a lot of my story ideas fall into the other fiction categories including Historical Fiction. One of my majors is history so I also really love historical fiction. Recently I’ve been reading Panic by Lauren Oliver, the tv show based on the book…[Read more]

Hey everyone, I’m so excited to be here and part of this with you! You can just call me Sami, I’m a self-published fiction writer. My strength is the content, and my weakness is definitely with the grammar and editing. I’ve been writing for six years, since I was seventeen. I believe life is all about learning from mistakes and from others so I…[Read more]
