Gabriel dearly wished to be able to read well. The pictures looked beautiful to him, and he wanted to know what they said. But he couldn’t admit to the young girls that he couldn’t read. He was supposed to be their protector, yet his education was worse than theirs. To him, such an admission was one of the rare things his pride wouldn’t allow at that time.
Instead, he took to looking around at the strange furniture.

Speaking of, I would love to age Lu into a teenager. She would be much more trouble. Gabriel would absolutely not be able to control her, and things would happen. But I was originally planning to just age her back to adulthood, which has its own fun potential. Decisions, decisions.

We could totally do that! She could probably turn teen, then adult later, like some kind of weird sped-up aging back to normal. We can do some weird stuff in that rp, and I’m here for it!
Gabriel and Marcel would relate to each other on multiple levels. I also like drawing Marcel with long hair because he rocks that look.
Honestly, that’d be a pairing I’d approve of! I think Gabriel and he would be great!
At this point, Lu is suspicious of Lillian and isn’t sure if Gabriel’s judgement is to be trusted.
Does she know about sirens? Because I’m waiting for her to accuse Lillian of forcing Gabriel into liking her.
For the record, she isn’t. Her native language is a series of clicks and calls like a dolphin or whale so far from seductive to a human. She does have a power over the mind, but it can’t conjure emotion, though it can illicit an emotional reaction depending on the person.

I do wonder what it would be like if Noelle was one of the children in the rp. But I’m pretty sure Gabriel hasn’t met her yet. I can’t imagine he has, because he acts clueless around children, and she would have come up in conversation by now.
Yes, lol. When he meets Lillian, he’d been separated from Bwerdy for a few weeks at least. He had sent her away for her own safety temporarily at the time, and it really didn’t help that he had no news if she was truly safe or not, so he of course was fretting. By the time Bwerdy met Lillian, Lillian already knew a lot about her.
I’d imagine she would have come along in the RP as well by now if he had met her, in the form of his internal thoughts wondering if she was okay.
He has been princess-ified.
I feel like if his build weren’t so masculine, he could pass off as a girl even easier than Baron LOL. Also, I’m slightly obsessed with his hair being grown out. I like it in a high ponytail.

I don’t think Sniper realizes my boi over here might be a crepuscular monster-killer, but he’s like a perfectly cooked egg: if you poke him, he turns into liquid. That might be the strangest simile I’ve used yet, but hopefully it makes sense lol.

Gabriel Mai
Gabriel took the offered cheese stick, trying to open the packaging. It felt so weird to his fingers, smooth and cold without texture or the same crinkle as paper. He eventually ripped it open, but hated the texture of the cheese. It felt a bit slimy to him, but he didn’t want to offend Mel, so took a tentative bite. The taste was much more mild than he was used to, and he wasn’t sure if he hated it or loved it. He had had mild cheese before, but those cheeses usually had a softer, looser texture, not this solid smoothness.
Instead, he smiled at Mel, eyes straying over all the oddities in Mel’s house as there were in Lucy’s room. His own cabin had felt familiarly sweet despite all the memories, now he felt like he didn’t belong where he stood.
Gabriel has been introduced to mozzarella, and since I don’t like it much, he probably won’t either XD.

So maybe we – the labyrinth people – helped you realize Gabriel should be an older brother? :-p
Oh yes. I do kinda doubt not giving him a little sibling now by blood, but it’d complicate things that I don’t want to complicate right now.
So I’m settling for him being a single girl dad XD. I think I’ll name her Noelle, but I’m still on the fence. I have some time to decide, as in my head Gabriel refers to her as “Bwerdy” or “Birdie” right now.
She isn’t going to be exactly like Lucy, by any means (especially appearance-wise. She looks even less related to Gabriel than Lucy already does!), but it fills the hole that Lucy created in his story XD.
Also, Lillian decided she wanted a good laugh, so put Gabriel in a dress:

Wait, what scene is this? Is this a scene where he almost dies in the middle of the story, or is this the end of his story?
I guess it’s my turn to be a tease. I can’t tell you yet, because if I tell you, I’m gonna bury myself into it more and neglect what I actually *should* be working on. I will say this however, it’s at a point where Baron is facing one of his greatest fears.
I was going to say if it was his ending and you decided to bring him back, maybe he loses his connection to the wind permanently and that’s his punishment rather than dying. But idk if that works.
I had considered that. I decided against it because if his heart “beats with the wind” then when he’s alive again, why would the connection not be re-established? The way Elemental’s work, it’s sort of like if a normal human had above-average hearing. They’re born with it, but obviously if they die, they can’t hear anymore. However, once they’re brought back, if their eardrums aren’t damaged, they have hearing again (side note: Rya’s powers are like forcing ear plugs on them.) This isn’t a perfect comparison obviously as hearing isn’t connected to your blood really, but I think it helps?
I could possibly have the person who stopped his heart also stop the flow of what makes him an Elemental, but this person doesn’t know what exactly makes someone an Elemental (the scientific biological reason isn’t discovered for at least another 50-100 years), not even Baron knows (which is important to this scenario) so it’d be weird if they did that as well.
Obviously, Rya can block an Elemental’s powers, but she doesn’t know how it works exactly, it just does. Her power baffles even the elves.

No, no they actually do bring him back to life. He’s alive, just a little bit in shock because of the wind loosing connection and how his heart stopped.
There’s actually a “cool” explanation behind what or who stopped his heart.

You can’t save a character from something if you don’t know what you’re saving them from. I find it funny that people know something happened to Seb, but after all these years on KP, people still don’t know what it is.

We’ll all find out eventually, I’m sure. Though, I wish I could keep my own secrets as well as you keep yours. I always have to tell someone about what goes on in this head.

She was begging Gabriel for *years* to let her go out fighting with him, and he finally let her and that was the end of him being able to keep her at home XD.

Oh yes. The hair, and the way he covers up so much made them think that, plus originally he had a more slender frame.
Now in his story as it is currently, he works with a stone mason, so he doesn’t have lithe muscle anymore.
If any of my guy charries were to be mistaken for a girl, honestly it’d be Baron rn. He’s very slender, and when his hair is long, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Maybe the Protector role will be passed down to a girl someday

What is the reason for this?
It started because the Protector isn’t under the government, and when the First Protector appeared, the government were rightfully wary of civilians trying to mess with strange monsters.
Then it continued as partly tradition and partly that when the Protector becomes the people’s hero, it’s best to keep the personal life behind the mask so that people don’t ruin it.
Then it also works for Gabriel because of his birthmarks.
Random fact that I just pulled from the gutter of my mind: In the early concepts of Gabriel’s story, the news reported that they thought the new Protector was a girl…Gabriel, upon hearing this, was positively both offended and amused.
The setting back then was more futuristic, but I decided that didn’t fit as well as his current one. Gabriel also had a bit more fire in his personality then.

Cool little thing.
So last night I wrote a scene that has been in my head where Baron’s heart literally stops. You probably all know how it goes where you write something, then add something to it that you weren’t planning on but somehow makes so much sense?
That was this.
In the scene, just before Baron dies, his connection to the wind snaps. Turns out, a single moment without that connection is the scariest thing Baron has ever experienced.
I was thinking about it and it makes so much sense. Elementals are born connected usually, they live their entire lives with something they usually don’t consider just an ability, but as a companion. That’s what leads to the personifications of elements: the fact that Elementals see their elements as a close friend or twin.
Baron doesn’t just control the wind, he’s wind’s companion. It’s his friend who loves to run off into fields and pull at him to follow.
That single moment where that connection is gone would be the first time he’s never felt the wind there. It’s always been his constant, and suddenly it wasn’t anymore. That freaks him out more than dying in that final moment, because inside is too much calm.
Also, Wind Charmers usually have ADHD! Their always off, always distracted, always have a million things running through them. I don’t think Baron is, but that’s just a fun fact.
