Kathleen replied to the topic Topic suggestion for Biblical fiction writers in the forum Questions and Support 3 years ago
Awesome idea! And since I have unlimited power with whatever is created on the site *chuckles evilly* Biblical Fiction is now a topic under “Genre Fiction”!
If there is any technical issues with it, just let me know and I’ll get right on it!

Kathleen replied to the topic What’s an unexpected place you got a story idea from? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years ago
Haha, well, it doesn’t really have to be exciting to be unexpected.
Like the amount of times I’ve gotten story ideas out of an unexpected look, laugh, or hello is absurd.
Have you ever gotten an idea for a certain trait for a character from a person you know?
That’s cool. Now you’ll have to credit Evanescence as a co-writer…[Read more]

That premise sounds interesting! I’m definitely leaning toward the resistance saying no to Torrent, I feel like that would make her have to come up with her own solutions, which would be interesting to read about. I’m also a big Rogue One fan, so…yeah. That might have something to do with my choice XD

Kathleen replied to the topic Another Awkward Intro in the forum Start HERE 3 years ago
Oof, yeah. Present tense first person isn’t something I’ve ever tried, but I can already see it going terribly wrong, haha.
The ending is pretty good? I was always a little curious about how it was going to end, but know I’m even more intrigued. I guess I’m going to have to finish it then!
As for your questions about The Hunger…[Read more]

What’s an unexpected place, event, or thing that you got a story idea from?Â
A couple unexpected things that happened to me that I got some pretty cool story ideas from.Waffle House. Went to a Waffle House once in my life and that was at 2am when I was eight years old. Never will I go again. It was a very creepy experience and all the cu…[Read more]

Welcome to KP! It’s fantastic to have you!
Yo, your favorite food are definitely top tier foods.
Blue used to be my favorite color, until I started liking other colors too much and now I’m just confused, haha.
I love The Hunger Games! Each time I read it I pick up on something new. I also love how deep the POV is and how the three…[Read more]

Jodi Maile replied to the topic When you don't like the direction of your story… in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years ago
No worries! Thank you for your input, I always appreciate hearing other people’s advice about this issue, since it is something I struggle with more often than I like. With relatively small short stories, I’m fine with restarting them, since a thousand or so words is not as big of a commitment to me as a novel is. But I…[Read more]

Jodi Maile replied to the topic What's something you thought was necessary in writing, but actually wasn't? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years ago
True, villains and antagonists don’t always need to be in a story. I’m usually writing some kind of story where they’re like, far away, so they don’t always show up in the main story (you know, like a Sauron kinda thing), so I always feel like I have to find ways to have them interact with the protagonist. But…I don’t always need…[Read more]

@lydia-s so sorry for the late reply! And thank you so much for your advice, I’ll definitely keep it in mind next time I’m faced with something like this. I ended up trying to rewrite it a couple times and on about the third try, I got something I really liked! So I’ve finished that short story now 😁

Yep, pretty much same. Ever since I thought to myself that I could write stories like the ones I was reading, I’ve been trying to tell stories XD

@trahia-the-minstrel That’s so cool! We might have the same ocarina! And Song of Storms is such a beautiful one to play. I love Song of Time too!
I love the inspirations for your story. The novel I’m planning to write is about a girl who has to save her country from an invading army, but this WIP is still in the very beginning stages of planning…[Read more]

What’s something you always thought was necessary in writing, but actually wasn’t?
For the longest time I thought if you weren’t writing a romance, you had to have a main villain/ antagonist.Because without a antagonist your story would be boring and have zero conflict right? Boy was I wrong.
Antagonist are great and most stories are better…[Read more]

@lorelei-writer Hellooo! Welcome! I’m Jodi, and I write a bunch of things, usually fantasy or dystopia these days depending on my mood XD
Some questions:
Do you have a WIP you’re currently working on?
What inspired you to start writing? I’ve always loved fantasy books, which is how I ended up writing so much of it…
Anyway, nice to meet…[Read more]

Oh wow. YOUR ART IS AMAZING. When I first saw it I had to double check that I was on the KP forum and not an art forum, haha. It’s seriously that good.
How did you learn to draw?
Also, Heroic Legend of Arslan looks like a really cool novel series. Do you recommend?
