Jenna Terese replied to the topic To edit or not to edit… in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 10 months ago
I’d recommend editing it before you move on to book two, because sometimes with editing things change around with the plot and characters and it’d be easier to have those things at least somewhat set in stone before moving on to the next book than to have to do even more editing with the second book. It may have been confusing the way I…[Read more]

@kathleenramm It was one of those homeschool minivans, which is lowkey funny to me. That would make a great device, as well as a way to introduce a character.

Jenna Terese replied to the topic Writing and Jobs in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 10 months ago
That’s a really good question… As much as I want to write full-time (which is pretty much what I do now), I think having other jobs is a good way to gain experience in different areas.

@lewilliams Ah, yes, books. Also something I’ve been struggling with lately. But I’d be glad to give you some reccs of books that I love! Although, I have to warn you…lately I haven’t been able to stomach anything other than classic lit, so maybe a lot of these books will have the same flavor as the things that you read for your college…[Read more]

@relia Another job, because I feel like maybe, just maybe if I had to do writing as work then I might hate it.

@typewriter77 Hi Seth! Nice to meet you! I’m Linyang, though most here call me Lin. I also write fantasy and contemporary, as well as crime and now occasionally some dystopian and maybe eastern fantasy. I haven’t met anyone who’s written Wuxia before! I do love reading some of them. Might I ask if you’re an anime fan? You seem like the type.
Do…[Read more]

@kathleenramm That’s such a fun story!
Other than people that would make good characters…
On the first day of one of my classes this year I was heading in doors to the place where we hold our co-op, and anyways, while I was still outside in the parking lot, this car just drove by in front of my, crunching this safety cone (which are…[Read more]

Thank you! Oh wow, a country song? I’m intrigued. 😀 That’s awesome that you’re getting back into writing again! Yup, I’m working on my sequel. I made some pretty good progress yesterday. 🙂 Abbie Emmons is hosting a virtual ‘writing retreat’ during June with writing livestreams every Wednesday, if you’re interested.

@sami-eastwood That synopsis sounds awesome! I would love to read a book about that!
Disaster movies are certainly unique. I don’t usually go to watch them but I have watched several. And those are an awesome choice of books!
Ah, I’ve heard of ranch dressing on pizza, though I have yet to try it! I will have to, though!

@nanisnook I usually end up procrastinating for a week and regretting it, but yeah I usually push on through instead of skipping around.

I REALLY like your tag lines! The synopsis is good too; my one suggestion would be to briefly mention why the main character and her friend are being sent off to this circus land. But great job! 😀

Lin replied to the topic Not sure if I should add an idea to my book in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 4 years, 11 months ago
@morgan If it fixes your plot holes, I’d say go for it!
I think that adding another sibling could help strengthen your theme, as others have said before, you could probably work around with fleshing some of your characters out. And if you’re writing a sequel, I think that if there is a problem that arises in this book then it could be resolved in…[Read more]
