I know people who love that trope as well as people who hate it! Haha.
But it can be really good if it’s written well.
Is there a book or movie that you read/watched that pulled this trope off particularly well?

It’s been a while, but is this still an issue?
If it is, I can look into why it isn’t working and try to fix it.
And if there are any other technical difficulties you are having, feel free to let me know and I’ll get ’em fixed as soon as possible!

JULY 3RD TOPIC OF THE WEEK
What was the most boring main character you’ve read about? And what made them so boring?
I am going to honest here. For me, the most boring main character that I’ve ever read about was Chris Redston from Dreamlander by K.M. Weiland.I really love K.M. Weiland, but this main character… just wasn’t it. What I think…[Read more]

Not sure why I’m only finding this forum page now, but better late than never!
Okay, so here’s the first thing that popped into my head after reading your premise.
I really like the idea that every time he time travels, he is making an alternate universe, and not really changing the past.
But I think a cool way to take advantage…[Read more]

I usually draw new characters, but my goal is to be able to draw characters from my novel. The reason why I haven’t yet is because when I start, they don’t look like what they imagine them in my head, and give up. XD
*grabs a pencil and shakes it with determination*
But one day I’ll draw sketches of the characters in my novels…[Read more]

But that’s what writers do! Notice the small but fascinating things in the world that most people overlook.
Being strange is what writers do best.XD
Funny enough yes! I was able to dream about my fictional worlds.
Only occasionally and after many efforts, but when I did the world ended up being a lot more…[Read more]

I loved to make up worlds when I was younger as well. (Still do to this day actually).
But when I was little I would envision worlds with as much detail as possible as I fell asleep hoping that I would go there in my dreams. The world was almost always a fantasy world where I was a princess about to go on a perilous journey.…[Read more]

You like to draw as well! What kind of things do you like to draw? For me I love drawing characters from movies, dramas, tv shows, etc. but I also like to make up my own characters from time to…[Read more]

TOPIC OF THE WEEKÂ
How do you think of story ideas? How have you thought of story ideas in the past?
For me, I have always started with the main character. I would first think of an interesting character and dream up their life.
I would give them an occupation that always fascinated me, a family life filled with mystery and misfortune, many…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – Who's the most realistic character in a story? in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 5 months ago
What do you think makes Jack especially realistic?
I really want to figure out the reason why some characters feel like they’re alive and others feel as real my pet unicorn.XD

Kathleen replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – Who's the most realistic character in a story? in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 5 months ago
Yes, characters can be both realistic and UNrealistic in two different ways.
A character can have supernatural powers that make them unrealistic but also have a well-written character full of depth and heart that makes them realistic.
Some books I’ve read the characters feel like they’re just puppets being controlled by the…[Read more]

Last week was on favorite scenes, and this week is on realistic characters!
FORUM TOPIC OF THE WEEK:
Who’s the most realistic fictional character in a story?Â
My choice is the one and only… Leo Valdez from The Heros of Olympus series!
I don’t know the exact reason why he felt so real to me, but he felt as though he was an actual person that e…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic TOTW – What's Your Favorite Type of Scene in Stories? in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 5 months ago
I didn’t even think of those kinds of scenes, but I can definitely see why it’s your favorite to write!
It kinda sounds psychopathic but, for some reason, high emotion, and panicking scenes can be really fun to write. XD
Plus, I also like how you learn a lot more about the characters and see a side of them you didn’t see…[Read more]

Yes! I’m glad someone gave plot twists the appreciation they deserve! I love stories that keep you on your toes. I mean, if you already know how the story is going to play out from the beginning, then what’s the point of reading it?
What story has your favorite plot twist?
I too have the same struggle of not knowing…[Read more]

It’s hard to say what my favorite SW saga is because it’s been forever since I watched the originals, and the only prequel I was able to sit through was The Phantom Menace. (Sorry if any of you love the prequels, I just couldn’t stand the cringy dialogue and the CGI blinded my eyes.)
That being said, I guess my rankings from least…[Read more]

It makes a lot of sense that the poet in you is the part of you that takes pleasure in writing descriptions. Poetry can take seemingly simple things like the environment around us and put it through a new lens and make it into artwork.
I have so much respect for people who can do that well.
You can’t talk about great descriptions…[Read more]

Who doesn’t love a good plot twist!
I don’t know a lot of people who really enjoy the description of stories. Is there a particular reason it’s one of your favorites? And which authors do you think do description the best?
I haven’t read the book Pride and Prejudice, but I have watched two film adaptations. Why do you ask?
