Sparing and a bit of staff, nun-chucks scare me, as does the flail, lol. Guns and knives of course. Also ninja stars and other throwing weapons. Bow and arrow, crossbow. I’d like to do long-bow but I have never met a girl who could fully draw a longbow. Those things are insane. my brother uses one though.

You literally just answered the question I’ve been asking myself: why have I never finished first drafts? It’s because the middle of my book always feels forced!!!
There you have it! When I talk with people, either about my own work or theirs, that section in between the inciting incident and the midpoint is almost always the pro…[Read more]

Oh? I shall be interested in hearing how it goes! That’s why I want to learn it! My twin sister plays the violin, so we’ve been conspiring to get a mandolin for a while.

Thank you for that. The dichotomy of my feelings about this new development are now expressed in meme form. I may go on with contentment.

Hello and welcome to KP!
Essays… I have a deep love-hate relationship with them. I love exploring complex topics in an approachable way, but I also dread the search for sources. Which is ironic considering I would gladly look through old books for any other reason.
I’ve read Lord of the Rings, but none of the others, although many of…[Read more]

ACTUALLY.
Taking everything with a rgain of salt as always, you might prefer to put these two paragraphs together.
Yet beneath the glittering feasts, royal ceremonies, and fierce competitions, something darker is stirring. Not every prince is what he seems. Not every smile hides good intentions. And not everyone fighting for Keres’s hand wants h…

This is definetely intriguing! After reading it, I am interested in the vibrant world and curious why one prince is emphasized over the others. This sounds like it has a romance plot but also a complicated mystery. As a reader, I like mysteries, and I also like feeling like I have figured out the plot (but still want to be surprised).

Hi! It’s good to meet you again. I am so excited to see KP running like I remember it when I first joined five years ago. But even more, I’m looking forward to how this will grow as it serves a new “generation” of KeePers. This world is in desperate need of more lights set on a hill.
To introduce myself, because that feels vaguely…[Read more]

Waiting for Draft 1 of my finished novel, “The Imprisoned King,” to finish cooling down so I can edit it. In the meantime I’m working on a lighter book called “Shattered Twenty.” Also working on wrapping up a comic series, designing my first ever D&D campaign, and dabbling with my metroidvania-style video game “Limbodeath,” when I can. I’m also…[Read more]

This is such a fascinating character concept!
For names, I usually decide what letters “fit” the person, then look at names from the cultures I feel are aesthetically/culturally similar to my setting. I also like to look at name meanings. Sometimes I find a perfect name and sometimes I find inspiration for a made up name.
Whatever…[Read more]

Names are hard. They just are. My sister in fact came to me the other day and asked me this exact question:Â how do you come up with a good name? I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, but here are some things I’ve tried in the past:
- Going to a name generator and combining different parts of names I like the sound of.
- Coming up with…
