Hello everybody! My name is Elias and I like to write. I mostly write stories, in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. I would also love to write a historical fiction but I need to find a good storyline. (I am also… not super good at finishing my projects… *cough cough cough*
I have more recently also gotten into essay writing. I used to find it boring but now I am intrigued by it.
I would also love to write a screenplay for a movie but I’m very confused about it… like how to do it… lol. If anyone has tips it would be greatly appreciated!
Some of my favorite books are the Lord of the Rings, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dracula (by Bram Stoker), and Frankenstein (by Mary Shelley). (Neither of those are references to the garbage movie adaptations. None of which I have watched lol.)
Despite that, I am a cinephile, and enjoy movies such as pretty much anything by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, The Odyssey), Gladiator (NOT THE SEQUEL) Dune, Project Hail Mary, and The Martian.
Anyway. I’m looking forward to learning and making new friends on Kingdom Pen!
October 14, 2026 at 7:14 pm #214295Welcome to Kingdom Pen! I’m a writer of middle-grade fiction and poetry, a full-time university student, a historical clothing/culture/language nerd, and a hand-crafting enthusiast.
Finishing stuff is hard. I think that’s easy to forget sometimes, but it’s no less true.
As far as screenplays go, closest I’ve gotten was a stage play, so probably not much help there. Sounds interesting though.
And of course, I have to ask some traditional Ask-The-Newbie questions:
- If you could own a horse for a lifetime, or ride a dragon for a day, which would it be?
- Do Jellybeans qualify as a food?
A cup of tea is cheaper than therapy.
October 14, 2026 at 8:21 pm #214303Welcome Elias! So cool you write Fantasy and Sci-fi! I like to write those too.
Also intrigued that you like essay writing. What topics do you like to write about?
How did you hear about Kingdom Pen?

My name is QuicksilverWyvern (though you can just call me Quicksilver or Wyvern, I don’t mind) and I like to write mostly epic fantasy with hints of other genres. I also have a ridiculous amount of other hobbies, though I’m definitely not equally great at all of them, lol! My dream job is to be an author and eventually a business-owner.
That’s so cool that you enjoy some classics! I haven’t read any of the ones you mentioned (besides Fellowship of the Ring, if that counts as a classic), but there are some others I’ve read that I can assuredly say were some of the best books that have graced by mind and eyes. Classical literature is truly a great genre to grow oneself and one’s vocabulary. Keep with it!
Now, here are some questions:
1. What is your dream fantasy-style home? Not necessarily from a specific book or movie, but just in general, like a palace, cave, secret bunker, or something like that. Feel free to go into detail!
2. What is your favorite vibe for a book to be? Like, the general feeling the environment and story gives you. Whimsical, epic, dystopian, regal, etc.
3. What (in your opinion) is the best line you have ever written?

October 15, 2026 at 11:30 am #214358Hello and welcome to KP!
Essays… I have a deep love-hate relationship with them. I love exploring complex topics in an approachable way, but I also dread the search for sources. Which is ironic considering I would gladly look through old books for any other reason.
I’ve read Lord of the Rings, but none of the others, although many of my friends have. What do you look for in a book?

October 15, 2026 at 2:03 pm #214370Hello hello! I’m so glad you’ve gotten on KP at last!
I’m Ellette! I’m an author if fantasy, dystopian, and Historical fiction for middle grade, YA, and adults. I am also the owner of a publishing company, a content editor, and an artist/graphic designer.
What are some of your top favorite books?
If you could pick to spend a week with one of your characters, who would it be, and why?
What fantasy weapon would you like to own?
Would you be a dragon rider or a horseman?
So glad to have you!

October 15, 2026 at 6:10 pm #214413HEYYYYYY. I’M STELLY. THE BEAN. NOICE TO MEET YA. 😎
Ugggghhhhhh. I have… also never finished something. I just kinda finish the first draft and decide I’m good. It’s good. One day I’ll commit and make the coolest thing ever.
FOLLOWED BY YOUR SCREENPLAY, THAT’S COOL. IIII… don’t know much about it, which I really should, considering I wanna be an animator/director/something film related.
QUESTION OF AN IMPORTANT DEGREE.
Plural of cactus is cacti. Plural of alumnus is alumni. Fungus is fungi. Yet the plural of platypus and octopus are platypuses and octopuses. Which way is superior? Changing to an i, or adding an es? Answer… carefully. *mwuhuhu*

@kashka
1. that would depend on if the horse could fly or not.
2. they are edible which makes them food. However, chocolate is objectively better.my favorite essay I’ve ever written was about how natural selection fits into a Biblical worldview.
I got an email with a list of free resources for Christian young writers. (It was a long time ago and I don’t remember who from lol)(I appreciate your recognition of wyverns. I don’t think they get enough love and are too overshadowed by dragons.)
1. dream style fantasy home. Hmm. Can it be a hobbit hole in a cave? lol
2. Favorite vibe is definitely heroic and powerful. Ultra-manly if that counts lol.
3. not an exact quote but: “Levran watched his sister calmly sleeping, her golden hair pooled under her head on her pillow. She was so peaceful. More than peaceful. She was pure. A pinprick of the brightest light in a dark world.”
@elishivet-pidyon
what I look for in a book is mainly that it goes deeper than the surface level of the plot. I like a plot that makes me think to follow it. Which isn’t to say that I don’t like an occasional simple story, but I like for it to have deeper meaning.
some of my top favorite books are the Lord of the Rings, the Count of Monte Cristo, Frankenstein and Dracula!
if I could spend a week with one of my characters it would be Morvid Klent. Think Sam from LOTR if Sam were mixed with Duncan Idaho from Dune.
i would want to own hmm. A mace maybe. Or just a really cool sword like Anduril.
dragon rider for sure.
@stellybean I like i’s better. Mostly because it sounds more scifiish lol.i extend all of these questions to everyone who asked them!
October 15, 2026 at 9:55 pm #214447Hello! I am Bilbo Baggins, and like you, I am also a new adventurer to Kingdom Pen! (I am assuming you are new. Please correct me if I am wrong 😆)
All that you said is very neat. Unfortunately, I do not have any tips on writing screenplays, but I really do with you luck with that, because it is very cool! And about not finishing projects, I… also never finish mine. So that is completely okay! I do hope to finish a project one day though.
GASP. I LOVE LORD OF THE RINGS! And Project Hail Mary is such a good movie!! I’ve never seen Dune, but I really want to watch it.
NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS.
1. Who is your favorite character in LOTR?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. Do you have any projects you are currently working on? (you don’t have to explain it if you don’t want to, I’m just curious!)
October 15, 2026 at 10:03 pm #214452Hello hello and welcome!!
Oh my gosh, I’ve read The Count of Monte Cristo, one of my favorite books. How long did it take you to read the whole thing? Took me three weeks. Haha.
Screenplay writing, that’s awesome. I don’t have any tips, but do you have a specific idea in mind for the screenplay you want to write?
October 16, 2026 at 6:20 pm #214481Hello! Yes I am new!
I highly recommend the Dune movies, though it might be better to read the book first to kind of- understand it. There’s a lot of lore that the movies skim over.
1. That’s easy. Sam.
2. Either chocolate, or avocado oil-fried potato chips, or just a good, medium-rare cheeseburger.
3. I have one main one. I’m kinda experimenting with horror, modeling after Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker’s book House and also using timeline-twisting elements from Recursion by Blake Crouch. (FYI, that book has a lot of strong language- just a little warning. If you can handle/tune that out, I highly recommend it.) I don’t have a title for it yet, but it involves a world inside a mirror.
i think TCOMC took me a couple months to read, but it was scheduled out with ambleside online (anyone else do that?) so for a long time I could only read it once a week. Which made me sad. Lol
as far as a screenplay, I’d love to make a historical epic. Like, about the war between Athens and Sparta, or maybe early Britain. Like during the Roman time.
October 16, 2026 at 6:42 pm #214483Ah! I love The Count of Monté Christo!
I’ve met very few people who stuck it out to the end. That book is long for sure.
Do you have a favorite character from it?
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
October 16, 2026 at 11:29 pm #214507Ah, yes. The four-legged, two-winged western dragons get all the attention. People always forget there’s also wyverns and wyrms, drakes and amphipteres, sea-serpents and hyrdras, and of course little fairy dragons and the eastern dragons. I credit my many-faceted fantasy reptile knowledge to an excellent book I read on drawing dragons. I promise I’m not so nerdy that I go researching for all that type of stuff. (Looks at search history.) Most of the time, at least.
Love the heroic fantasy, and we can totally call it ultra manly vibes. A book with those vibes is one I’ll be easily sucked into.
That’s a great line! I love moments like that in books.

October 17, 2026 at 12:39 pm #214512id have to say my favorite character is either Albert (or wait, whoever the guy was who fell in love with Valentine de Villefort, I get the names mixed up) or Edmond himself. What about yours?
Sounds like a cool book! I owe my entire knowledge to a random whim of wondering whether the dragons from HTTYD were actually dragons. (Half of them aren’t, lol)
October 17, 2026 at 10:59 pm #214525Haha! Nice. When you say HTTYD, do you mean the movies or books? I literally just watched the first movie again, lol. I’ve read the first few books too, though.
