THREE PRINCES. ONE PRINCESS. A KINGDOM ON THE BRINK OF RUIN.
In the frozen kingdom of Iskaryn, dragons soar above snow-capped mountains, royal bloodlines hold the power to shape kingdoms, and a crown is worth more than a thousand lives.

Princess Kerestina has spent her entire life being told what she must become. The perfect princess. The perfect dragon rider. The perfect daughter of a king whose ambitions reach far beyond his own borders.

But Keres has never been particularly fond of doing what she is told.

She would rather spend her days riding dragons and escaping the suffocating walls of her palace than sit through another royal banquet or entertain the thought of a political marriage. Unfortunately, her father has other plans.

At the Winter Solstice Ball, the king makes an announcement that will change the fate of Iskaryn forever.

      The Solstice Trials.

Three princes. Three kingdoms. One prize: the hand of Princess Kerestina.

Prince Deimos of Sylvaren, heir to a kingdom steeped in ancient magic, may be hiding more beneath his quiet smiles than Keres first suspects.

Prince Ryuu of Vaelora is charming, clever, and infuriatingly playful. With a teasing grin and a talent for getting under her skin, he seems determined to make the princess smile—even when she would much rather throw him out a window.

And then there is Prince Alastor of Azhara.

A prince from a kingdom once forbidden to set foot on Iskarynian soil. A kingdom known for its dark arts and its ability to summon the dead. With golden eyes, a sharp tongue, and secrets Keres cannot begin to unravel, Alastor is as intriguing as he is dangerous.

As the trials begin, rivalries ignite, alliances are tested, and the princes compete for the right to claim her hand. But Keres refuses to be treated like a prize to be won. She has her own mind, her own ambitions, and absolutely no intention of making this easy for any of them.

Yet beneath the glittering feasts, royal ceremonies, and fierce competitions, something darker is stirring.

Not every prince is what he seems. Not every smile hides good intentions. And not everyone fighting for Keres’s hand wants her heart.

Some want the power that comes with her name.

Some want the kingdom that will one day be hers.

And one may be willing to destroy everything she loves to get what he wants.

In a game where love and loyalty are tested, trust can be the most dangerous gamble of all.

Because the greatest threat to Iskaryn may not be the enemy beyond its borders—but the prince standing right beside its princess.

(I know that was super long…but I would love your thoughts on it. Would you actually read a book with this blurb? Is it intriguing enough? Feedback?)

I seriously am already in love with your characters!! That is the kind of blurb that causes me to pause while scrolling through endless stories on my library’s app. I would so read that!

Now I have to ask: Of the four you mentioned, who is your favorite? Who is your least favorite? And, if you don’t mind sharing, why?

I love Ryuu! He’s was really fun to figure out the personality of. I really love his dynamic with the other characters. My least favorite would be Deimos. Just because I haven’t put that much thought into him. I think he could be a really lovable character if I really sat down and figured him out.

Yeah I totally get that. I have a cast of about 6 main characters and they all decided to rotate favorites in my head until I figured out who they actually all are 😅 How do you come up with character ideas? Do they just come to you or do you have to sit down and go through a process to figure them out?

It honestly depends. Some characters just come to me and I just write down what comes, and others I have to search. Sometimes it’s personality, style, looks, etc… I LOVE scrolling Pinterest for ideas on moods. And sometimes it’s a name and occupation and nothing more.

That is about what happens to me 😂 I often will think up like movie characters that seem to fit the one I’m trying to write and then base a lot of stuff of that as far as appearance goes. Once I took a character, based them off of Han Solo, and then called him Harrison. I was feeling really creative. 🤣

This is definetely intriguing! After reading it, I am interested in the vibrant world and curious why one prince is emphasized over the others. This sounds like it has a romance plot but also a complicated mystery. As a reader, I like mysteries, and I also like feeling like I have figured out the plot (but still want to be surprised).

I am guessing this is at least a dual POV? But if all these are main characers, with all these different goals in their minds, this will be quite the adventure!

I may and I may not read a book with a blurb like this. I may because I love big stories and imersive world building, and your characters sound interesting. I may not simply because it sounds like YA high fantasy, and I’m a bit more of a middle grade book person. The magic system is intriguing, but I’m not sure I trust it enough to read about it. That’s an audience issue, not a problem with your blurb. Overall, looks great! My only word of advice is if you can condense it a little that may make it easier to approach. For instance, the part where you list what “some… want” could be simplified/put together in a few sentences of the same paragraph. That would let you have more dramatic impact with your other one liners.

                    ACTUALLY.

Taking everything with a grain of salt as always, you might prefer to put these two paragraphs together.

Yet beneath the glittering feasts, royal ceremonies, and fierce competitions, something darker is stirring. Not every prince is what he seems. Not every smile hides good intentions. And not everyone fighting for Keres’s hand wants her heart.

Also, “Few smiles hide good intentions” would be less repetitive than “not every smile” and would keep your sentence emphasis more or less the same. But if you want the repetive use for emphasis reasons etc, it does still sound good.

Sorry if critiques aren’t what you wanted. 😅 It’s a great blurb.
