First off, that story sounds incredibly intriguing. Not your average story, and maybe one that you can use to deal with things most people deal with, but don’t talk about.
For developing character arcs, I would suggest you 1. Find a message, 2. Find a flaw that corresponds and fits the character uniquely 3. Determine what the…[Read more]

Baron (Brutus)—Ben Gunn, Flare, Ellis, trying to find Fel and Brea (I think I got that right)
Brutus hesitated in following the others. The soldiers were terrified of these creatures. He held his scarf up over his nose and mouth. His eyes followed the disappearing forms of his companions. He could use his wind to…[Read more]

Ah yes. Some writers talk about their super organized notes, and I’m just like “I have a head. And some notes here…or maybe over there…”

I…worldbuild in the dark at night usually (I have trouble sleeping) and I rarely, if ever, actually write a comprehensive thing on my world, I just scribble things on random sheets of paper or in notebooks that I then loose in the sea of notebooks that I have already.
Yeah, I need to change some of my writing habits.

I’m not sure what a good process is, but here’s basically what I do.
I have a doc for each of my series that is mostly just notes about the characters, the plotline, and a bunch of random culture things. And then I’ve scribbled some things down in notebooks, but I haven’t kept up with those so I don’t really know if I have that stuff…[Read more]

I talk about it to my siblings. XD And I keep an eye open for ideas. For instance, while at a funeral I realized I didn’t know my charrie’s traditional burials. Flash forward to when I ran across some archeology, and I decided to hunt for ideas. Now I have a detailed burial system depending on the place and/or culture in the world. Same thing…[Read more]

Ok, so I need some ideas from anyone who has them…
I started a story about five years ago and now I’m realizing the characters are really boring… there’s maybe one that’s more developed, but the rest are kinda just flowing with the plot. I’m having trouble coming up with good character arcs for them, so I need some ideas of challenges or…[Read more]

haha! I think it may have more been like loaded shotguns in plain view……………. lololololol. And a lot of protesting.
This can be a wild town because you have the super political people, and then you have the old school farmers and such.

I know right!!!
The Governor actually talked about splitting up households so that there were ten people each. So having small neighbor families move in together and big family split.
That’s when the American spirit kicked in for a lot of folks and they were like, “oh you just try.”

Tenz
As Emeline spoke, Tenz shrunk back against the wall. The vapor around him had all but disappeared besides the tendrils that carried Reid. “I want Omi,” His quiet, childish voice, barely to be heard, was tinged with loneliness and sorrow.

I am, but the city district banned all meetings over ten people of the same family and three who are not related, and people were getting fined and arrested. Our city can be pretty corrupt.

Thank you for the critique! You gave me some very helpful feedback.
Just a couple things to address so you don’t have to keep wondering
The second and third sentences seem to imply that Max’s only non-human feature is that his eyes are full of emotion. That doesn’t seem like a necessarily inhuman trait. Do I understand cor…
