I just now realized you mentioned you already liked some of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis’ works (and owned TWS), so sorry about that. XD. Also, I just remembered: if you ever want to try out a nonfiction book, you could look into The Writer’s Journey. It helps you structure your story, figure out character roles, and also touches on the T…[Read more]

*grins cheekily* *rubs hands together* Oh goodness, thank you for beginning such a lovely (and helpful) topic! You’re not the only one racking the shelves for good books. XD Anyways, I’d love to help you out if I could with finding some book recommendations, my dear writing friend. 😉 Though, I think we have similar taste, so most of…[Read more]

I had to hop on as soon as I saw the title XD
Older Classics:
- The Wide, Wide World by Susan Warner. I really really love this book; it is a slow read but so worth it.
- Jane Austen Books: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey.
- Jane Erye by Charlotte Bronte (though, to…

Ah, I totally understand about college reading lists. And I would recommend The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander but you’ve already read that series…
If you like historical fiction (and are okay with a legal thriller) I would suggest The Trials of Kit Shannon by James Scott Bell! It’s a series about a girl in 1903 who is trying to…[Read more]

@lewilliams Yeah, I get that. I’ve been trying to read more, too!!! Alrighty, *rubs hands together eagerly* I’m always down for giving out awesome recs. I don’t know if any of this will interest you, since I’m normally a loner in the books I enjoy. XD But I just recently read Fawkes by Nadine Brandes and Dust by Kara Swanson and they were SO…[Read more]

E.D.E.N. Southworth’s books are awesome! I’ve read Ishmael, its sequel Self-Raised, and I’m working on The Hidden Hand. They’re all set in pre-Civil War USA (Though Self-Raised takes place in several different countries.), and they’re very well written. Self-Raised is probably my favorite. 🙂 Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis is also a winner.

@lewilliams Ah, yes, books. Also something I’ve been struggling with lately. But I’d be glad to give you some reccs of books that I love! Although, I have to warn you…lately I haven’t been able to stomach anything other than classic lit, so maybe a lot of these books will have the same flavor as the things that you read for your college…[Read more]

Hello! Good to meet you! I love your name. 😉
Now, to answer your questions:
1. tea! I like over-brewed tea, which almost looks like coffee. Yum!
2. I like to knit, practice calligraphy, run, and hang out with my family.
3. I love the Ashtown Burials series. Do you have a favorite book by him – if you’ve read any?

@lewilliams Hey Elizabeth, fistbump right back at you!
When you aren’t writing, what kind of things do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not writing, I like reading (when I have the focus for it) or hanging out with my sister. I like doing active things either with a friend or alone. Most of my best thinking is done away from the computer, then l…[Read more]

Hello all! I’ve been feeling really discouraged lately about my writing. It doesn’t seem very good to me, and reading other people’s amazing work doesn’t help. How do y’all get motivated when you just want to chuck it all in the garbage can (if I’m not the only one that ever wants to do that)?

Hi y’all! So, wasn’t sure where to put this, but my church and I use these little bible study booklets called Into His Marvelous Light, and I wondered if anyone would be interested in being taught this Bible study? It’s simple and will give me good practice for doing it online and in my own words too. If you want to, let me know by simply replying…[Read more]

I dare you to post the very last sentence you’ve wrote in a story with no context.
And no cheating!
I know it’s tempting to quickly write an eloquent sentence before participating but DON’T! Be 100% honest and post the very last sentence you wrote. (Unless there is anything inappropriate of course).
Okay, I’m going to tag some…[Read more]
