Alexa Autorski replied to the topic Writing about the Bible in a Fictional World? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 11 months ago
Thanks, Elizabeth!! I wasn’t entirely sure if I wanted to try it/if I could properly pull it off, but I think I’ll try. I knew I wanted to include Christian elements, so I thought this would be an interesting concept and sideplot:) *Phew!* I’m glad you think it wouldn’t be strange, because then I would’ve been more stumped XD And…[Read more]

Katherine replied to the topic How do you develop your story ideas? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 11 months ago
@lewilliams Thank you!!!!! 🙂 Awesome question!!!!😀 I love creating characters! First I try to determine their family relationships (who they live with, how many siblings they have, how often they see other relatives, etc.). This helps me get a good understanding of my character. Then after that I play around with personality and interests which…[Read more]

Katherine replied to the topic How do you develop your story ideas? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 11 months ago
@lewilliams For coming up with story ideas, I pull inspiration from everywhere and piece things together to fit the way I like it (if that makes sense XD😉). Also, since I create characters first, I’ll often change up the scenarios for each character. Like, maybe with one character the boy lives with his stepfather, while with another character the…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What do you do when you feel discouraged and feel like giving up? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 11 months ago
Very true. Besides writing, what are some other favorite hobbies of yours?
I think have too many hobbies for my own good, but I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. XD
ugh, comparison is the worst right? Even comparing yourself to something that you wrote before can be discouraging if you feel like your…[Read more]

*takes deep breath*
Okay, so I wanted to share two more chapters of Fortitude with y’all to see your critiques/feedback and overall general thoughts! I’m really nervous about posting this, and just note that it isn’t the final draft, but that’s what improvement is all about, I suppose 🙂
I’m going to have my very helpful friend @gracie-j post th…[Read more]

Hello everybody!! 😉
Have you ever had a fantasy world in your head that you just wish you could actually see?
Welp, y’all, look no further.
I stumbled upon a program similar to Photoshop recently, it is actually very easy to use and very quick too. It’s possible to make portraits (that can look either very real, like actual people, or on the a…[Read more]

BuildsByGideon replied to the topic If you got to be a screen writer for a movie, what type of movie would it be? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 11 months ago
@lewilliams Haha that sounds like an awesome movie, I’d totally watch it! A fairy mafia, that’d be so interesting to see. The Godfather was such a good movie, the Irishman, similar, but less bloody and longer, also a fantastic movie!

Kathleen replied to the topic If you got to be a screen writer for a movie, what type of movie would it be? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 11 months ago
Oh, yes! A Pirate movie/Tv show would be so fun to write a screen play to. To see your swashbuckling story come to life on screen would be truly amazing.
I Think I watched Beyond the Mask a while back. What are some of your favorite things about the movie?
Mafia and Fairies? I’ve loved both for a long time, but it never…[Read more]

@daisy-torres Great!! 😊
@scoutfinch180 Ok, hope your editing goes well!! 👍
@devastate-lasting Ok! The purpose of the challenge is just to be persistent in writing, so as long as you write, then it doesn’t matter how much you write!
@lewilliams It’s ok if you participate in a smaller way! The purpose of the challenge is really just to be per…[Read more]

@wyn-rose Hi! Thanks for the welcome! What you write sounds right up my alley (I’m a big fan of fantasy). My favorite character in LOTR is definitely Samwise Gamgee!! He’s probably my biggest role model. How about you? I’m so glad to find LOTR fans!
Cool! I’ve always wanted to go to Sight and Sound but have never gotten the chance! Which one did…[Read more]

@abigail-m – Wow that’s awesome! I haven’t heard many songs in Russian, that sounds fascinating! I love how to tie the music to the mood and setting of the story, I’m sure it gets built in there if not consciously then subconsciously!
@writerlexi1216 – ooo, do you have full playlists for each kind of setting/mood you want to get into or do you…[Read more]

Thanks, Elizabeth!!! 😀 I’m glad you like them! Oh, YES, I know. Evie is one of my most mysterious characters… she’s introduced in the seventh chapter, I believe, and is kind of like the mentor to Caira. And yes, I meant it when I said she’s a ghost O.O She’s over nine hundred years old, but she looks like a young, eleven-ish year…[Read more]
