      Huntress

“Do you think he’s….?” Azalea trailed off.

I stared down into the chasm, my eyes blurring with tears.

He’s not dead. He can’t be. You thought he was dead once, and look what happened. He’s gotta be alive.

“I’m sure he’s fine,” she continued, not sounding very sure.

I stood up and tried to clear my head. “Yeah. He’ll….be fine.”

I didn’t sound very sure of it either.

“What do we do now?” she asked.

“I’m not sure.” I admitted. “We could keep going forward and hope they catch up eventually, or we could take our chances with the traps and try to find the boys.”

@theshadow Okay i’m ready now heheh

        Sniper

The tunnel narrowed to a single file line. I took up the back end of the group so my tail wouldn’t get in the way.

I woulda warned Trevor of what lay beneath his feet, but he’d already stepped on it.

He and Emmerich were both dropped through the floor before I ‘ad the chance to yank ‘em back. A chasm opened between me and Azalea and Huntress.

I tried to jump the gap but fell short, my claws scrapin’ on the wall.

Huntress’s voice shriekin’ my name was the last thing I heard before I lost my grip entirely and plummeted, slammin’ onto the stone and blackin’ out.

I awoke alone. I could feel blood on the side and back of my head, but whatever wounds I got from the fall seemed to ‘ave stopped bleedin’ a while back ago. No bones appeared to be broken. That was a miracle.

I stood up shakily and grabbed my weapon. Sure, I was a little dizzy, but I didn’t care. I needed to get back to my team.

I then realized someone else was in the same room, and he wasn’t one of my previous companions.

idk i guess we could say he got grabbed by one of the animals and taken to the guy in charge or something.

“Both my parents are human! They say…they say across the sea are different races, but there aren’t any on my island. Not for almost two hundred years. Both my parents were normal…and I…there’s no good explanation from my world…” Gabriel’s voice became shaky and terrified.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought about my parents too,” I muttered, but he didn’t hear it, and it was probably better off that he didn’t.

Interesting that there were other races across the islands of his world….but the fact that there hadn’t been any of them on his own island meant his planet either had absolutely no transport technology, or there was something stopping people from getting there. The  no transport tech idea seemed super unlikely–boats were fairly easy to design, much more so than starships, so I guessed there were probably sea serpents or some sort of monster or freaky weather pattern preventing inhabitants of the other islands from getting there.

            Weird.

i just did another one of the “asked ai to explain the rp” but this time with microsoft copilot and it was legit so funny lol

It misidentified Sniper as “the strong one” because i brought up his kind being strong lollllllll. apparently it missed the part that he mentioned he wasn’t like them.

Everyone else, it got reasonably accurate.

Still a little creepy that it can yoink the info so easily but it messes up enough that I think we’re decently safe.

“I could rip off a monsters head with my power. I choose not to, but that…what human can do that?” Gabriel fretted.

“Actually, that’s pretty normal where we come from.” I cut in. I nodded to Soldier. “He snapped a bear’s neck once. A bear. I’m sure you have something similar in your world, but if you don’t, well, they’re quite a bit larger than humans, covered in fur, and very dangerous when they’re angry because of their massive claws and teeth. And he killed one. Yeah, sure, it was a young one, but still.”

“Where I come from it’s not unusual for my kind to be able to kill a creature the size of a yeti–large ape sorta beast, white with thick fur, not sure if you’ve heard of ’em–with one hit. We drove ’em to extinction pretty much. It’s not somethin’ I’m proud of, really, even though I myself never hunted any.” Sniper added. “When I told the kids I didn’t ‘ave any powers, that’s what I meant. A typical Argonite is twice my weight, all muscle. Not like me at all.” He lashed his tail. “Although I’ll give ’em the credit they’re due, somehow they managed to keep a decent amount of that size for brains. My planet was the most advanced of ’em all up until a few years ago.”

“So, uh….I don’t know how to explain that,” I said, pointing to the handprint, “but it doesn’t seem that strange to be strong enough to kill like that. As for the stripes, well…” I held up my own arm and let the colors of the background ripple through. “Have you ever tried to do something like this? Maybe you’re a hybrid. I doubt there’s any Changelings in your world, but odds are there’s something, or someone who can do the same thing as you.”

“Unless they’re all dead and you’re like me. A solitary endling. Not too bad of a life if you’re used to it, but….sometimes a bit lonely.” Sniper mused.

I gave him a look. “I’m not sure if that last bit helped, Snipes.”

                    @rae

                    Sniper

“This was the hydra.” Gabriel handed me the knives, showin’ off the scales on their handles, after pointin’ out the direwolf pelt that he’d made a rug from–the only other monster he’d used to decorate the place. They were bright green and brown, brighter than my own scales. They were also smoother.

Huntress whistled through her teeth as I let her handle one of the knives, feelin’ its weight. “Those are impressive. That hydra’s probably serving a better purpose here than he ever did in life.”

Mel curled onto one of the rugs, enjoyin’ its softness. On the other side of the room, I noticed Soldier doin’ the same with another rug. A loose feather came off his wing and began to glide on the subtle wind current that blew through ‘ere.

I looked out the window and still saw the foggy labyrinth; we unfortunately hadn’t been teleported to Gabriel’s homeworld. Maybe it was for the better given all the beasts he ‘ad on his planet, but at least it woulda been a planet and not a cursed maze.

This was weirder than anythin’ we’d encountered before. This was his home, and yet it wasn’t. Probably some form of faked magic, but it still appeared identical to the real thing somehow.

I wasn’t sure if I liked it very much.

ok so here’s my writing style as of now. Note that this character in particular has a decently strong Australian accent so his words do get a little clipped in writing lol. I don’t write like this all the time, just when writing from his perspective.

and yes I probably always will have a “sharpshooter character with deeply buried self-esteem issues” as a major player in all my fics, between this guy (he’s my boy fr i love him a bit too much) and Crosshair, who you hopefully remember but who hasn’t been used for any rp’s in a while.

@godlyfantasy12 bro I hate when that happens.

I copy-paste my rp’s into google docs or microsoft word when I get the feeling kp’s gonna kick me out. Or just in general, sometimes it fails to reply.

                            @whalekeeper @rae @loopylin ok i’m back

                            Sniper

Gabriel walked around like he knew the place.

Sorta reminded me of, well, me during the war, when I was wanderin’ the old halls of my dad’s lab back on Staten, my earliest memories reactivated.

“Is this where you lived with that old man? Your master?” Lucy asked.

“This is where he found me. I had been bitten by a hydra, he stumbled across me looking for the person who was killing the monsters in the forest. I had a bad fever from the hydra venom, I don’t remember too much until afterwards.” he explained, starin’ through the window. A vase of flowers sat there, a type I’d never seen before. Their scent drilled into my nose.

Huntress looked around, takin’ specific notice of the neatly arranged knives and their half-woven sheaths. “Nice house. Simple, I like it.”

She looked over at me. “Sorta reminds me a tiny bit of our home. Well, our home the way it looks now, not when I first saw it. It was a mess back then.”

I growled. “Don’t bring that up, Jaylen.”

                            “It’s the truth,” she protested.

I rolled my eyes and studied the beast pelts on the walls. They didn’t look like any animals I knew.

“So are these the monsters you were killin’ when you got hit by the hydra?” I asked, lookin’ over at him and pointin’ back at ’em with my thumb claw. “Or are they normal animals from yer place?”

“Great, lead the way!” Trevor handed me the torch, and I began searching the maze.

Eventually, light began appearing, shining through racks in the wall. I extinguished the torch and studied the light. It didn’t seem like sunlight, but it wasn’t something like lava either. The cave was far too cold for that.

I pointed up ahead. “There’s an exit this way, although I don’t know what it leads to. Be careful, we could be walking into a trap.”
