For funsies and to keep the lore consistent
Rallascant
“…I’ll try to help as I can.”
Rallascant’s rabbit ears perked up as he heard the cursed word. Technically, he was there already. Summoned. He was under no obligation to actually show himself. He sniffed at the air and then dug up another dandelion root to nibble on. He watched things unfold from his hiding spot, one eye always on the red-headed girl.

May 16, 2026 at 9:28 am #212071Thank you for the useful ideas. I like 1, 2, 8, and 9 especially. We can also use the need for food as a motive to get stuck in these situations.
It’s funny that Rallascant is his own separate option
I have generated more ideas to add to your list:
11. Hall of mirrors challenge where the characters have to navigate their way past many reflections of themselves
12. Living topiary. Bushes/trees trimmed into different animals that really walk around and hunt each other.
13. Illusionary exits that turn out to be traps
14. The guardian sphinx trope where the characters have to honestly confess truths to continue on the path
15. Tiny tunnels only children can fit through, and the adults have to let the children go forward to unlock challenges by themselves
16. Corn maze (this would frighten Lu)
17. Rooms in the crawlspace that look like familiar rooms from each character’s home. Or any challenge where the characters are required to share their personal memories.-

May 16, 2026 at 9:38 am #212073May 17, 2026 at 3:31 pm #212086@whalekeeper Huntress has a pair of pistols I think. Sniper gave up his rifle of course but might still have a smaller gun on him, idk.
Not sure what Soldier has. A shotgun and/or rocket launcher is his typical weapon but that would be pretty obvious to everyone else. He might just be using plain old claws.
@loopylin @whaleypeak suggestions.
14 would be a riot with my guys haha

May 17, 2026 at 8:25 pm #212087I vote we do 17 sometime soon because that sounds like it could give Mel a rest, but anything is good with me. Or we could combine them.
MelMel sniffled a bit, staring at the ground in embarrassment. She shuffled her feet and then looked up at Lucy again, about to say something else, when she suddenly stopped. She was looking at something behind her friend which she hadn’t noticed before. It was an arched wooden door, painted red, nestled in the leaves of the hedge wall. It had a gold handle and a gold knocker in the shape of an animal’s paw holding something round in its grip. As she watched, the earth seemed to shift in front of it, pushing up stones out from under the grass to form a fresh stone pathway to the door.
Mel yawned and rubbed her eyes, the confusion of her new surroundings feeling more annoying than overwhelming now. She scowled at the door and pointed.
“Was that there this whole time?”

May 22, 2026 at 10:07 am #212144@loopylin I tried to write this yesterday but kp kept crashing on me. Thankfully i saved it in a google doc.
Soldier
Finally that big bird was away from me!
I’m not like him! I have a THINKING MIND, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
A rattling caught my attention, and stones appeared under my feet.
Stones don’t just grow from the ground! I should know!
Strange magic! I hate it!
“Was that there the whole time?” asked the new girl, the one who’d brought the crow.
“It was not!” I shoved my way forward to look at it. Maybe I didn’t hate it. It looked nice.

Soldier was so big and blustering, it was hard not to jump when he said something. Lucy still held Mel, but the two of them shuffled closer to look.
The stone pathway looked friendly enough, clearing away the silvery green moss and grass, and leading to the quaint red door. It had indeed appeared out of nowhere. Red was Lucy’s favorite color. If there was anything sinister there, it was hidden.

Gabriel
He didn’t like things mysteriously appearing. He moved closer to the girls, primrose eyes watching the pathway warily. He knew Soldier would try the door. He’d rather he himself scouted it out first.
“You two stay here,” He commanded the girls, pulling up his mask and drawing his blades. He approached the door silently, nose checking for any foul scent from monsters. He still didn’t trust his ears as the voices kept on rambling, a constant ring in his ears. He tested the handle on the door. It was unlocked. He flung it open with a single motion.
And stopped dead in his tracks.
A sweet scent, strong but pleasing, struck everyone. Inside the little red door it looked like the interior of a small wood cabin.
“It’s alright, there won’t be any monsters in here, but next time I see that imp, I need to know how he knew this place.”

I feel like changing my rp, but I can’t edit it, so please accept this alternative instead.
Gabriel Mai
He didn’t like things mysteriously appearing, especially not here. He moved closer to the girls, primrose eyes watching the pathway warily. He knew Soldier would try the door.
“You two stay here,” He commanded the girls, pulling up his mask. He stopped Soldier with a hand on his shoulder. “Let me go first.” He didn’t trust the Orniform* to have enough awareness to safely open the door.
His nose checked for any foul scent from monsters, or oddities in the air. He still didn’t trust his ears as the voices kept on rambling, a constant ring in his ears. All he could smell was the moss and the people about him mixed with oily feathers.
His hand gripped the handle, testing it. It turned, unlocked. With a swift motion, he flung open the door, drawing one of his blades at the same time.
A sweet scent, strong but pleasing, overcame them all in a wave as the door opened. It wasn’t there before. It made Gabriel’s senses dizzy, but he knew it. He recognized it. He knew it so well.
“There’s…no way…” He whispered, suddenly breathless. Inside the red door it looked like the interior of a small wood cabin. There was a crude kitchen, a simple table, a small cot. Animal pelts hung from the ceiling, besides the couple as rugs or as blankets. There was a pair of sharp knives on the table, next to strips of leather being sewn into two sheaths. It was obviously a one-room hunter’s cabin, built years ago.
Gabriel’s hands dropped. He sheathed his blades, stepping inside. “It can’t be…” He looked beneath his feet, at one of the only woven rugs, threadbare with age. He knelt, lifting it carefully as he inspected old blood stains. “I could never wash those out,” He muttered.
He pulled down his mask, then looked up at his companions who stood confused in the doorway. His eyes were wide as if in shock. “This…this place…I know it. I…I grew up here after…after…” He looked down at the pale blood stains again.
In a moment, he was back there again. The shouts of many people, chanting, cheering, jeering. His own screams in his sensitive ears. His mother’s face, the face he had always loved, now turning back at him with pure fear and hatred behind tears. The heat, his skin felt on fire. His body hurt, they were…
Lucy’s voice pulled him back. He dropped the rug, quickly putting his mask over his face, trying to hide all the emotions flooding across his face. He couldn’t let them see, couldn’t let them in. Not on this. He knew Lucy probably wouldn’t like him building up his walls again, but he wanted to protect her, not make her horrified at his own past.
Note: We can have a door (probably the back door of the cabin) leading to another room for another character obviously.
*I know that’s not spelled right, I tried 🙁 It’s almost 1 AM my brain is fired.
