@elishavet-pidyon ughhhh yes, that happens to me for basically no reason and I hate it

@freed_and_redeemed hiiiiiii how’ve you been?

@loopylin her giving Soldier three cheese sticks is so funny to me for some reason
Sniper
Mel handed three cheese sticks to Soldier, who ate ’em as ravenously as he did the first. She pointed out the various furnishings; I held back a chuckle as I realized she probably thought we weren’t familiar with all of it. (I don’t know about Gabriel, or Lucy, but everythin’ I saw ‘ere was somethin’ I’d see in my own house, although hers were a bit…sleeker, more like what you’d see in an Australis city than in my outback home.)
She then brought out a few comic books excitedly, givin’ the names of characters adornin’ the fronts and backs before settlin’ down to read the one in her hand.
“Scout would love these.” Huntress took one and flipped through it.
“Look at this one!” Soldier proudly held up a comic with a human bloke wearing red, white and blue on the front. Actually, almost all of the subjects of these comics were human, with only a few exceptions; Mel’s world must ‘ave only ‘ad a few of the other species livin’ on it. “This one has Systemic colors!”
I pulled a comic off the top of the pile and opened it. Accordin’ to this character’s backstory, he’d been sent up in a rocket to avoid his planet bein’ destroyed and crash-landed on another world, where he was adopted and raised not knowin’ where he’d come from.
I tossed that book to the side and instead picked up one with the bat-man Mel liked, hopin’ no one noticed the shudder that’d gone through me when I thought of my own, very similar experience.
“This book probably woulda worked a bit better if he were an actual Drachenehul,” I muttered.
Huntress
Sniper picked up a comic and read the first few pages before throwing it back on the pile and grabbing another.
Curious, I grabbed the same one. The reason for that immediately became clear. This story was a bit too close to his own for his comfort, presumably.
I can’t say I blamed him. This character in the comic grew up to become a symbol of heroism, a powerful being using his abilities to benefit his kind…..almost the exact opposite of the real, living being standing before me. I’d feel strange about having to read about a fatherless half-breed and her twin brother doing heroic things, too, rather than…all the things we actually did.
Actually, if I found a comic about that, I’d just become convinced the comic writers were somehow stalking us.

*Lu runs away screaming bloody murder*
Why did I laugh so hard at that
@rae Sniper would be like “wait, you LET your girl do this to you???” bro would be halfway across the planet by now if someone tried to make him do that (Huntress probably wouldn’t have such an idea on her own, but if she and Scout were together and scheming pranks like siblings do I can definitely see that concept crossing their minds lol)Gerald handled that. @rae lol
I don’t hate mozzarella (I actually kinda like it) but that is a very accurate description of a cheese stick. I don’t like my cheese too slimy, luckily cheese sticks aren’t usually like that (at least not the brand my mom buys) but fresh mozzarella used on pizza typically is so I hold off on eating that until it’s shredded and the outer sliminess is largely gone.

Soldier
“Do you guys want a cheese stick?” Mel asked.
I stopped looking through a stack of paper on the table (it was a boring stack of paper anyway) and looked up. “Cheese stick?” I repeated. “Where?”
She gently pressed one into my palm. I bit it in half. Delicious. All too soon it was gone.
I shoved through the fridge. “Are there any more?”
Sniper pulled me away. “I don’t think you should be goin’ through their food like that, mate. We don’t live ‘ere, y’know.”
I growled in disappointment. The food smelled good, and that made me hungry.

@whalekeeper not me trying to figure out whether or not my characters would recognize the name “Colorado” because the Spanish language and the name of the river (although it’s largely localized to one state/planet instead of multiple) both exist in their universe
in the end I decided not to bring it up lol
Huntress
“Can we go to the kitchen now? I’m hungry.” Mel said, pointing toward the door.
It had changed when we weren’t looking (and when Sniper wasn’t standing in it); now it looked like a typical wooden door in an ordinary neighborhood. I’m pretty sure I’d seen a nearly identical door once when I was a teenager walking down the streets of a Shawmut suburb. There was a cat flap and a few dirt stains around the bottom.
Sniper came close, reached out and knocked on the door. No one answered, I don’t know why I expected someone to. He turned the handle and the door swung open.
“Is this your home, Mel?” I asked as we walked in.

it’s been argued that changelings were an explanation for special-needs kids
That explains a lot
I should not be happy about this because if I lived in that time period someone probably would’ve murdered me by now, but I am happy about it.
now i just need cool stripes.

@rae ooooh interesting lore!!
also the adhd bit makes me think of how we decided that Scout canonically has adhd lolllll
wind charmer Jeremy would certainly be something but it actually really fits him tbh

Is Lillian sweet and smokin’?
LOL hearing the slang in Lucy’s world from her is cute.

@rae Soldier’s old roommate was a world-destroying ancient being who is now supposedly a ghost that lives in a brick (that he brings everywhere and considers a part of the family) so I’m pretty sure he would be completely chill with his kids bringing another one home lol

@theshadow we’re all very uncooperative lol

Lucy: *Looks at Lillian with suspicion* *Looks at Gabriel* “…She’s a fish.”
LOLLLLL
my characters would probably not even find it weird, I mean Huntress is a mostly-humanoid and Sniper’s half-crocodile. Soldier is a bird-like creature and his wife is a bear-like one–and they have two cute-but-probably-mutant children, but it might not be wise to tell Gabriel that lollll

@rae beautiful drawings! lol baron is so real for that
also Lillian sounds super cool! Species and culture breakdowns are fun, I’m totally up for reading about her kind!
Gerald handled that. You don’t question Gerald. (if you know you know)
@rae lollllll yeah I decided to use my youtube channel name across most of my socials now so it’s easier
@whalekeeper he does lol, it’s canonical to the fandom i took his lore from and I thought it was too funny to changeHuntress
Lucy explained the insect’s scientific name. “If you think it looks like a… another species, you can, er… call it anything you want.”
“No, his name sounds fine. I like scientific names. They’re pretty cool.” I said. “I’ve never encountered a Gryllus rubens before. I’ll have to show it to Engineer and Medic when we get home.”
If we go home, I thought, but didn’t say it out loud.
as for who we’re invading the home of next we have four options and three of them are mine. we can pick out of theirs or do Mel’s.
