@rochellaine  Yup! I wonder the same thing! I enjoy observing people and certain characteristics will come to mind while I’m writing. I guess I could put “This is not based on any real person, and any similarity to a real person is unintentional on the author’s part except the lady at the grocery store, the old man who sits in front of us in ch…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>@warrioroftherealm AAAHHHH!!! *tells herself to calm down* Read the Kingfountain Books by Jeff Wheeler! They are fantasy and have a fair bit of political intrigue, and are overall very well written, clean, and extremely hard to put down.</p>

@rochellaine don’t worry, I’m in no way, shape, or form against romance!
I just don’t like when something like this seems to have gone on in the author’s mind: “Ooh, now here’s an original idea! the perfect girl gets the perfect guy and they live happily ever after on their perfect horse ranch.”
So just as long as It’s a believable romance…[Read more]

@introvert_girl I know it isn’t the most normal of names, but Nysa is a group of asteroids in the main belt and it sounds kinda pretty. 🙂
Some more normal names might be Esther, Ariel, Cordelia, Lyra, Maia, Nova (fun fact: my mom almost named my little sister Nova!), Astra, Dara, and Elanor.

@dekreel those are great! the girl with the hat is my favorite too. You did a good job with her neck/arms/chest being proportionate with her head.

@epicaddie2Â Wow! hang in there! lately God has been showing me how important it is to trust him. I think that I know what His will is for me, and then it changes or circumstances make it impossible. I tend to try and figure things out. Is this what He means? What does this mean I need to do next? What is His will for me now? It’s confusing, but…[Read more]

@gh24682468999Â I’m no MK, but that was wonderful! you were able to eloquently express emotion without being like “she was very, very, overwhelmingly sad and it made her sad”. Good Job!
I think it’s cool how you did it in third person, I kinda expected it to be in first person so it was nice to see something so emotional in third. I also like…[Read more]

@rochellaine This sounds really cool!
I like how you have given her height issues because it’s way different than the “tall and blond beauty from the city” that you usually see in that kind of book or movie. I also like how you didn’t give her a romance with the local boy who is “really cute and just happens to have horses and be…[Read more]

Kaya Young replied to the topic Burn the Castles (Story Synopsis/Back Cover copy–Would you read this?) in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 1 month ago
@lightningmouse Hello! Your story sounds super intriguing, and I would read it. I like how you have a twist on the otherwise stereotypical “rebellious royal” and how you gave Rafe a superpower. That said, your synopsis is rather long.
personally, I would use a different word for your government. maybe Imperium from the Latin word for power? The…[Read more]

@dekreel I am rather fond of Piper, but one must inquire whom is this character you speak of naming? Please excuse my english accent, Jane Austen is getting to me. 🙂

@notawriter Thanks for taking the time to answer! I totally agree with everything you just said. I definitely don’t want the superpowers to become cliche, but it’s hard to come up with new powers. If you think of any let me know! Also that’s sound advice about not telling the readers everything about the superpower, I definitely could see myself…[Read more]

@ingridrd I like Devan too, but can I cast my vote for Arian? It isn’t a name you hear a lot, but it’s not hard to pronounce or spell which is nice.

Kaya Young replied to the topic Salutations! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 1 month ago
@notawriter Well, it’s not really with superheros as much as they have “magical” powers. When someone’s power becomes evident around age 15/16 they call it their “problem”, in general society sees these powers as a curse instead of a blessing. As soon as someone gets their powers they are taken by the government to work. some people are able to…[Read more]

@dekreel Nope, I didn’t draw it, although I wish I did! where do I even start with my favorite book? I enjoy all kinds of books, and I really just enjoy a good one regardless of genre or who wrote it. When it comes to movies and tv shows I like some Marvel movies, Granite flats, When Calls the Heart, and A Series of Unfortunate Events.

@notawriter My curent writing project is… Dystopian? Futuristic? I’m not sure what to call it. It’s set at least 100 years in the future, and people have special powers after a mega volcano was set off by nuclear activity.

@rochellaine Thanks! there are quite a few names that are obviously taken from the Latin, but they aren’t as pretty in other languages. For example our some of our english names like Mary and Lucy used to be Maria and Lucia in Latin. the other reason I like using Latin for names is it gives (in my opinion) more meaning to the character, and you…[Read more]
