@power Goodness, that accent. XD Have a pirate character in any WIP
@lavenderbookling Heheh, join the club as far as wandering-around-KingdomPen goes. XP

Lydia S. replied to the topic Some questions about characters in the forum Characters 3 years, 3 months ago
1. Definitely! I know for a certain book series, I feel that way about both the main characters. XD
2. For pretty much everyone (except maybe Sauron… Or the White Witch…), I’d say #1. (I’m a big believer in redemption arcs…😉)
3. The morally worst villain I’ve ever read about would maybe be Mordred from The Once and Future King or…[Read more]

Karissa Chmil replied to the topic What come to you first? Plot or Characters? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
Ooh. . . interesting question. Honestly, it’s probably the plot – which I find a bit strange, since my writing is so character-driven.
I think that I usually start with just a whisper of a plot, but then the characters develop much quicker than the plot – like they need that tiny whisper to bring them to life before they can take the…[Read more]

Ooh, sounds exciting! Fairytale retellings are awesome. 😀
My current WIP is actually a fairytale retelling, so let me summarize that real quick as I’ll likely be drawing on that a lot in this answer. . .
It’s a novella that draws on the what-if of if the shared last name between Robin Hood and Little Red Riding Hood was no accident at…[Read more]

Karissa Chmil replied to the topic Developing A New Story Idea! (Help? XD) in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 3 months ago
Ooh. . . sounds interesting! A few questions after reading through your idea so far. . .
- What happened to their dad? Is he playing a part in the story? And if he never really makes it into the scene, do the siblings have any kind of mentor characters?
- What causes these abilities to show themselves right then? Is there…

Ooh, this sounds awesome! <3
I’ll be going with Scarlet for this one, I think.
1. “Just because you left me to die doesn’t mean I did. Hate to break it to you, but not everything revolves around you.”
2. “What if I don’t want to be alone. . . or being with people? What if I’m terrified of being surrounded by people but just as terrified when…[Read more]

Is there a character (from a WIP or a fandom) that you don’t like, but you don’t hate either?
Ohhhh, yes. Plenty. A few that come to mind are Lilah (Tuesdays at the Castle), Ron (Harry Potter), and Atretes (Mark of the Lion series).
Pick a character, from a WIP or a fandom, then say that character is hanging off the edge of a cliff, abo…

Karissa Chmil replied to the topic Who has impacted your writing the most? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
Hmmmmm. . . so many people. XD Community is such an important part of writing. . . let’s see if I can summarize it at all.
1. My mom – She’s always been so supportive of my writing, and she does as much as she can to get me connected with various resources/supporting the time I spend writing. . . she’s amazing.
2. My best friend – We’ve both…[Read more]

So, I’m not the only one who does that!!! XD I very rarely read the ending of a book at the end of the book… Usually I spoil it for myself somewhere during the first chapter or maybe even before starting the first chapter… *facepalm* Honestly, I blame it on my writing style. I always know how my stories end and begin, so I guess…[Read more]

Yeah, ofc!!!
Aww, thank you!!!! I know; I LOVE redemption scenes… I’ll probably end up writing way too many for this series, and only a few will make it into the novels, but I’ll enjoy every minute of it. XD
Yes, I love being able to connect with Bible characters like this!!! It’s fascinating to get into their heads and persona…[Read more]
