I understand! All my early writing was Historical fiction. Then I found historical fantasy. Already being a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my writing, it’s a relief not to be constantly worried about accuracy.

So am I! XD I’m just now learning her back story.
The funny thing is all my
awfulyounger writing had female MCs. All of it. Then a few years ago I picked back up writing, and POOF! Nearly all male. -

So! Here is my other MC for Seas of Fury. She’s one of those characters I am still figuring out, so here is her first collage. She’s also randomly the only female character that made it to MC stage.

I can write and edit later parts of the book, bit first chapters? Ugh. I’ve completely scrapped them…I have no idea how many times.
So someone, PLEASE have good advice!! I’ll be haunting this topic…

Ah, makes sense. What I love about writing in a medieval-fantasy world is being able to use all the random historical facts I collect, and yet not have to worry about being completely accurate. (I’m a bit of a history nerd)

Ooo, intriguing. What sort of kingdom is this? Is the king good?
-
Koshka replied to the topic Hey, Everyone! in the forum Start HERE 4 years ago
Welcome to the Kingdom! I write non-magical medieval-fantasy.
What do you mean by ‘middle ages’? That’s a pretty wide range of time… Is it historical fiction?

I just flipped back through it, and remembered what I loved most about it; it’s far more likely to mention prayer than profanity.

Oh, yikes! He’s on front lines then…
Have you ever read American Heroes: in the Fight Against Radical Islam by Oliver North? It’s amazing, although there are some instances of military language, and I don’t mean tactical terms. That’s where I first got introduced to the military medical field.

That scene makes me want to hit someone. Hard.
And also makes me think of all the stories I’ve heard.
And seriously…will you need beta readers?

I don’t think I’ve ever read dystopian, but that sounds interesting.
What do you mean “doesn’t end in a successful rebellion?” (If it wouldn’t spoil it)

Why don’t you go ahead? Not to sound weird and stalking, but Freedomwriter isn’t on.

Wowsers.
What type of medic? (If you know that yet)
I am seriously thrilled with the prospect of the medical side of war. I have started research for Cecelia, my other MC for Seas of Fury, and it’s nuts how much this field has grown in the last wars.

Ah, black tea almost begs for cream.
It certainly is interesting, although for me it’s a lot easier than historical fiction, the genre I started out in.
Flash fiction is basically extra-short short stories, often only a few paragraphs long, like character sketches. It’s quite amusing, besides being good for writing…[Read more]
